I know several people who work for SWA, and trust me, their antiquated shit has caused plenty of issues for them as well. Some crazy stories...(not just about old Windows clients, but really, really old booking software and luggage routing issues)
Crazily enough, if these Windows computers had been in Azure or AWS, they could have been rolled back easily enough and would have limited the disaster significantly. So yeah, you'd have the Cloudstrike agent running in the cloud, where you could roll those machines back and then you lock down the "dumb" terminal in the airports, etc. For those super important clients you take the extra steps...no one cares if my machine gets bricked on a Friday. I can still do at least 85% of my work with a phone. (Teams, email, OneNote, blah blah) It wouldn't be fun by any means, but it would be doable in the short term.
