Is Survivor worth getting these days? I seem to recall it had a lot of performance issues at launch. Did they bother patching up?

The genre tends to be called "cozy gaming" - initially popularized by the likes of Animal Crossing, The Sims, and later Stardew Valley. Most of them are marketed as relaxing, non-violent, open-ended "life simulations". This new Tolkien game certainly appears to fit into that description, based on the trailer. Given the popularity of The Sims alone, it's probably safe to say there's a sizeable demographic for this kind of game.

So if one strips away the Tolkien license, what is the actual selling point of this game? (or is that it?). Remove the Middle-Earth setting and it just looks like another clone of My Time At Portia or Palia.

So is this basically an Americanized equivalent of the Onechanbara games? I'm getting the same kind of vibe from it (mainly scantily-clad female hacks up legions of zombies with sharp weapons). Definitely wouldn't pay full price for this though.

Pretty much why my interest has dried up. I got a Barbarian and Necromancer to level 100, a Rogue to 60 (in the last season) and I just can't be bothered doing it all over again. I'd like it more if I could just run the same preferred character (i.e. my Necro) through each season.

Return To Nangrim is another "dwarf-reclaims-ancestral home" game that's coming sometime soon. It's on Steam if you want to take a look. They had a limited time demo awhile ago and it didn't seem too bad.

I wish Rebellion would stop it with the Sniper games for awhile and adapt more of their 2000AD properties into videogames. We haven't had a new Judge Dredd game in over 20 years (mobile games not included).

Yeah, it came out in 2006 for PC and consoles but I don't think it's available anymore (it's not on Steam or GoG). A sequel game was planned by Activision but never happened.

Molyneux hasn't been relevant or respected since his long-gone Bullfrog days (Syndicate, Populous, Dungeon Keeper etc.) and possibly also Black & White. His long history of over-promising/under-delivering can arguably be traced back as far as the original Fable.

I got bored halfway through Borderlands 3 and barely scratched the Tiny Tina spinoff, so this one will probably be a pass.

Evil Dead: The Game was hardly a raging success. I don't really care for the Halloween franchise as a whole, but hope they come up with something more imaginative than yet another tired asymmetrical multiplayer game with a different coat of paint.

Yeah, the Novalogic voxel originals had a certain charm in their day. I remember playing the first two + Land Warrior and Black Hawk Down. But Joint Operations was probably the most memorably entertaining for me due to its scale.

I tried it awhile ago - mainly because so many claimed it was the next best thing to World of Warcraft. I got to about Level 40 before I lost interest. Maybe I've just played so many MMOs over the years that they fail to keep me engaged anymore.

I never managed to finish Village or bothered to buy the RE4 remake. I'm in no hurry for another game in the series at the moment.

You'd probably need quite an SFX budget to make an Elden Ring live-action series. I could see this being animated instead, like Castlevania etc.

Resident Evil and Alien Trilogy were the two titles that convinced me to buy the first Playstation console. While I have some fond memories of the original RE, I doubt I could go back to playing it again - especially with the superior remake that came later. I still have the original Resident Evil 3 release on PC and it's different enough from its more streamlined (and content-cut) remake to be worth a revisit. Same applies to Resident Evil 2 to a lesser extent.
