Why hasn't anyone made a first person shooter out of Downton Abbey yet? Missed opportunity.

I really enjoyed that interview, thank you for posting it! People make fun of Todd, but I still think he's the best in the business.

Well there's definitely no one better at milking one game for a shit ton of money. Maybe the Rockstar guys with GTA Online, but Todd did it with a single player game.

To be fair, if you're going to milk one game for ten years, it needs to be a great game that can keep people invested that long. Compare it to the open world games Ubisoft is releasing every year with just minor changes. The depth and quality of Skyrim makes it twice as enjoyable to me than even the most recent Ubi-drivel.

The pay raises ought to go to anyone who can breathe some creative life into their open worlds. So I don't know, new employees?

Truthfully, after watching the video, I'm let down. I like my open world games to use more than one color palette, and I'd really prefer realism and a sense of struggle while traversing the land, rather than inexplicable Unreal Tournament jump pads dotting the landscape. This looks dangerously close to an Ubisoft open world. I measure all of these against Skyrim, and unless Avowed delivers in a big way, I guess I'll be playing Skyrim yet again for the next 5 years until ES6 sees the light of day. Thank god for Mods.

@RedEye9

Thanks for both of those links! Up early and can't get back to sleep, just waiting for some football to start and killing time. Love Bill Mahr, (spelling?) and the Redneck Liberal was great.

Hells yes!

Some good old-fashioned Space Marine grunting, too. And for my money, the Quake 2 soundtrack is still one of the best all time.

Man, I hope it's Quake this time. It may be sacrilege to say out loud, but I always preferred Quake to Doom, and especially Quake 2. That's the game that got me into online gaming and VooDoo video cards, way back when. I don't usually like retread games, but holy crap, I'd go crazy for a new Quake.

It was kind of hilarious to have your character and the suit AI be like: "Hrm, I wonder why these creatures are so aggressive?" as you strip mine their entire planet, and literally recycle plants and animals into fuel to burn their world to a cinder as you drain it of resources. "What could possibly be angering them?"

*EDIT* Whoops missed your post, LordSteev, although I guess I kind of gave a review. TL,DR: buy it on sale for sure, if you like building massive bases. Avoid if you are a fan of They are Billions level of difficulty, because Riftbreaker is far, far easier, in a fun, massively overpowered, automatic nuclear missile launching mech sort of way.

Hey, thanks man! Exactly what I was looking for! Glad to see a small studio have success like this. Maybe they'll sell enough to invest in better AI/more diversified gameplay next time around. I like to spend my money on games like this, rather than a play it safe release of "Game Name Here" part 7, featuring all the same gameplay of the previous six, but now with more bugs and absolute social correctness!

All this said, I still enjoy the rest of the games. I even bought the Legendary Edition and have enjoyed most of that. Here's to the new teams at Bioware making games that excite me as much as their older ones. I hope the corporate environment lets them learn from the mistakes of the past and avoid recreating them.

I'm with you there, had a great time re-living the Legendary Edition. Played all three in a row and might have been getting a little burn-out towards the end of 3, but it just re-affirmed my personal take that this is the best, most realized Science Fiction universe ever made specifically for games.

While I also hope the new teams at Bioware can capture some of the glory from the past, imo the studio hasn't released a game in years that can compare to the early ME's and DA's, not to mention KOTOR. And what the corporate environment seems to do to game companies is kill all creativity in the name of playing it safe.

Anyone play The Riftbreaker yet? I checked out their website, and it looks pretty interesting, but there's nothing like getting a reaction straight from gamers.

Wish the media would stop paying attention to this fool.
emphasis mine
The last 9 months of almost silence from Mar-uh-Lardo has been a blessing.
President Twitter will be remembered as one our biggest fails.

Amen.
But now it looks like his henchmen have been whispering in his ear that our 'once great nation' needs him to run again in 2024, to save our very souls.

I love that he's decided to name his latest failure TRUTH, when nothing that dribbles out of his mouth even has a passing resemblance.

This will fail hard, only question is will it last as long as Trump Steaks or Trump University?

Wish the media would stop paying attention to this fool.

They still serve trump steaks I thought? You sound like a bitter hater. Enjoy your inflation, let's go brandon.

When it comes to the former POTARD, I don't just sound like a bitter hater, I AM a bitter hater. Blaming this current inflation on Biden is just so much more willful stupidity and obfuscation of the truth from the current version of the Republican party. I keep wondering how they get away with such high-level BS and still manage to keep any of their voters. Thanks for helping me form an answer.
