I wouldn't worry too much about the game not being any fun, if you enjoyed their previous games. I don't think they're going to stray far from their tried-and-true formula of open world sandbox. If they did, then I'd be worried. Just like Fallout 3 was "Oblivion with guns", this will probably be "Skyrim in space". That's ok by me, though.

I hope you're right. Many people have been critical about the statement "Skyrim in Space", but to be perfectly honest, that's exactly what I'm hoping for. It speaks volumes to me that as soon as Skyrim Anniversary Edition came out, I bought the game again for what must be the fourth time over different platforms, and it's the only thing I've really played since. Thank god for the modding communities that still pump out mods to keep this 10 year old game fresh. I still get pulled into a Bethesda world deeper than the worlds anyone else makes.

Those must be quite old development shots if the game is slated for release this Fall.

Yeah. "New" leaked images from 4 years ago. Doubt they bear any resemblance to what the game looks like today. If this game is bad, that might do it for me as a gamer. I can't tell if there really is no more creativity in AAA games anymore, or if I'm just too jaded from years of playing. Bethesda has always been my favorite single player game maker ever since Morrowind. If I can't get into this, maybe it's time for golf.

Didn't like Witcher 3 or Divinity series or Kingdom Come: Deliverance?

I liked Witcher 3 ok, but not as much as everyone else seems to have liked it. I thought Divinity 2 was a great game, maybe the last one I've played. But being turn-based, it's not the same level of immersion for me. Never tried KC: Deliverance, though I watched a few clips, it seemed too much like a medieval farm simulator.

But as good as Divinity was, nothing has the same magic for me as a Bethesda Open World TM. I think what I like about them the most is twofold. First, I love that you're NOT playing as a character, you're playing as you. And second, with all the interlapping systems going on in Bethesda's worlds, they always end up feeling more real somehow than anybody else's games. Like they're the only developers who can make me forget I'm playing a game for a while. I get pulled in to the worlds they make, if that makes any sense.

As a longtime gamer and a HUGE fan of Bethesda when they focus on single player games, I think this will be the best game of the last at least five years. Everyone loves what's new, what's hot, what's now, but if I'm really being honest with myself, there hasn't been a whole lot to get excited about over the last almost decade.

Flashing lights, prettier graphics, all covering up the same safe and proven formula of gameplay made by groups that have gotten so big they need to please shareholders first, gamers second. It's that whole 'let's make it for everybody' mentality that ends up making it special for no one.

I still enjoy playing modded Skyrim more than I like anything from Ubi, or Guerrilla, or anyone else dabbling in open world rpg country. Ubi has even turned open world games into a chore, like a fetch list is what I want to experience as part of my ultimate fantasy.

I predict Bethesda is going to once again show why they are the Masters of making universes. Hail to the King, baby!

Good on Riot. Not often you see heart in a cut-throat industry.

It hurts watching what's happening in Ukraine.

I'm actually a little let down by our country being too afraid of Putin to do anything with the military. He's become a madman, and verbally threatens nuke usage. I get that Ukraine isn't in NATO, but is the rest of the world really willing to stand by and watch them get crushed by a superior power who aggressively attacked them without provocation?

We are supposed to be the defenders of Democracy. The "World Police", so to speak. To insist from the beginning that in no way, shape, or form will we put boots on the ground strikes me as cowardly. If it starts World War 3, it's Putin who's started it. Better a war now than letting a madman dictate terms to us, and probably a war later.

Yeah, I'm the same way. The hype machine over the years has killed my excitement for new games. But that last statement definitely brings out a little hope. Back during the golden age of pc gaming ('96 - '04), there wasn't a lot of hype. Games just rolled out and you trusted most devs because the passion was always there. Now it's all hype with little passion. And then the game that you get is usually not even close to what they were hyping for years haha

You nailed it. Whatever happened to 'when it's done'? As corps buy up developers, all triple A games start to feel the same to me. Ubisoft has single-handedly ruined what I love about open world games. Hopefully this and Starfield can restore some faith.

These days never existed. Gaming ALWAYS was big business, even before Atari was bought by Warner in 1976.

I guess id never made Doom or Quake, then. Or Bioware never made KOTOR. You are wrong. There was a time when many of the best game studios were independently owned, and didn't have to answer to shareholders. Check your history.

Sign me up for whatever Rebel Wolves is serving. That blurb sounds like a direct shot at the corporate necks who decided it was more important for 2077 to be a Christmas Present than a finished game. Good for him, wish them all the success in the world.

Oh, and an RPG on Unreal 5 by the guy responsible for Witcher 3? Without looming boardroom death lurking in the shadows? Please pass that over here, I'll take seconds.

Any word on when they're going to finish Cyberpunk 2077? I'd heard about a fix and some free content due out before the end of last year, and then heard about the inevitable delay of that until sometime early in 2022, but I haven't heard anything about it since.
