I've seen some videos of the 4090s. Holy cow, they are like double the size of a 3090.

Sounds like typical YouTube clickbait material might have been at work there where they film the cards from weird angles to create OMGTEHMONSTAHGPU!!! clicks Wink . Yes, some of the custom cards are very large but twice the size? Doubtful. The RTX 4090 FE is actually shorter than the RTX 3090 FE. It is only a little more "fatter", too.

Yeah, OK. Some custom designs like the ASUS ROG STRIX OC are quite a bit larger but even that massive ASUS card is "only" 5cm longer than the FE and at ~5.5 pounds it is nowhere near 7 pounds. All of the other cards shown at TU were significantly lighter and smaller than the ASUS card so that DUBBLETEHSIZE 7 LBS YouTube MONSTAH card must be a rather exotic specimen.

Re: AMD Issues Early Q3 Results, well, $1bn give or take... who cares? Close misses can and will happen when issuing guidance.

This is the video I'd seen:

I've seen some videos of the 4090s. Holy cow, they are like double the size of a 3090. They are absolutely ridiculous. One reviewer estimates the ones he had probably weighed close to 7 pounds. They put one next to a PS5 and it was like 75% the size of a PS5.

I'll pick up a 4090 just as soon as EVGA releases one.
I'll buy the 4070 (aka 4080 12GB) when it is sold at the price of a X070.

I'm just skipping the whole Nvidia thing. Might get an AMD card if I get anything.

Look for a new Russian graphics card startup soon, located at the same address as Nvidia's previous office, called "Nvidio".

After Trump and Musk, I'm pretty sure being rich has nothing to do with being intelligent. Just involves being able to convince people to give you money.

Good point about PII with Samsung. They forced customers to provide it just to use the products they bought, and then Samsung carelessly let that PII fall into the hands of hackers, who can use that information in stealing people's identities. They should be held 100% accountable. Personally, I believe if any company ever loses your PII, they should be forced to provide lifetime credit and identity theft monitoring to all customers. One year's protection is laughable. It's not like that lost data will evaporate after a year. Those customers will have to worry about that information being used against them for the rest of their lives.

What? Whaaaaaaaaaaat? I'm sure everyone is 100% glued, GLUED, to their screen from 9 to 5 when working from home.

Honestly, I feel like I get way more work done if I can get up, go work out for 10 minutes, take a 20 minute nap in the middle of the day, etc. I used to work a job where I drove to work (doing the same work), and I knock out projects way faster working from home. Part of the reason is the time I wasted commuting is now used to work, but also because I can focus better by taking real breaks and just going outside to relax for 10 minutes or get a snack or hang out with dogs or something.

The "bosses" that aren't convinced are not good managers. Their employees being more productive when the manager isn't present just shows to the manager that they are actually worse for the business and not better, and so they are fearful that THEIR bosses will realize that.
The whole COVID/work from home has probably shown a lot of companies that middle managers hovering over their employees aren't necessary...if you have good employees.

I mean, you know how much work you give me right, boss? Does my work get done? Do you have more work for me? No? Then who cares if I'm furiously pounding on the keyboard 12 hours straight or go take a nap for an hour. The work is done. No need for keyloggers or other spy software. You give me work, it gets done and is 100% correct, you give me a paycheck and we are gtg.

Lol, look how fat that card is. It takes up like every available slot in the computer. Not sure what the future of video cards is, but a giant block eating up all available space in a computer isn't it.

I've been pretty Nvidia loyal for about two decades, but I've been on the fence over the years due to their bad practices. After the past two years, how they treated gamers, partners, etc., and now the insult that the 40 series is to gamers, I'm actively looking at AMD products going forward. EVGA has the right idea. Calling a 4070 a 4080 and trying to juice $900 out of gamers...yeah, no. I don't care if the 4060 and 4070 kicks AMD's butts, I'll sacrifice a little performance and a few bells and whistles for my conscience.

I had Ark, but glad to get Gloomhaven. I don't mind card games, tile based battles, etc.as long as it's a turn-based fight of magic, monsters, etc.

after evga dropped geforce... i'm sort of in a spot where i don't really want to buy nvda anymore. especially after how they have been treating their customers too. i'm also fairly happy with my 3090, maybe i'll skip this generation.

Kind of feel the same way. It pretty much started when Nvidia tried to ram the "Geforce Experience" down our throats so they could mine our data and market to us and sell our info, the proprietary nature of G-Sync, then we had the last few years when they just prioritized profit over gamers, now all these revelations about how they treat their vendors. Not sure AMD is that much better, but it's all really turned me off to their cards.
