Just canceled Netflix the other day. Didn't even know they were raising rates, but we just didn't watch it enough to justify the price. I think we both watch more Disney Plus and HBO Max than Netflix, and now both of those are cheaper than Netflix.

I still have no idea what the point of this thing is but I do hope it becomes a success

I just imagine myself laying in bed playing a few games, or sitting outside on a nice day or something. In reality, it will probably sit in a closet until it no longer charges because I didn't take care of it.

These days I find myself gravitating more towards easy-to-play, simple games over the massive AAA blockbusters or complex games with 100 hotkeys and 90 page instruction manuals. After a hard day of work, I just don't want to learn anything else.

I put in the $5 preorder, but kind of having second thoughts. Maybe better to wait for all the other people to beta test and find all the bugs.

T-Mobile has been hacked 5-6 times in the past few years, and they really don't seem to give a sh** about security or their customers' data.

So he already had malware installed on his machine, and instead of logging keys or something else, it just stole the stored passwords. Not like that is some kind of new nefarious twist other than all the passwords being in one convenient place, I guess. A lot of the scare stories always make it sound like there is some massive new security flaw that we should be terrified of, but when you read the details, the person's machine was already compromised in some way.

What do states/cities even get out of this? There aren't many employees at a crypto company, they provide no service for the citizens in the area, and they are a huge drain on the electrical grid, while probably not paying their fair share of taxes (last one is just a guess, though, since pretty much no one dealing with crypto pays the taxes they are supposed to be paying).

Got Windows 11 on my new desktop. It's not terrible, but it really feels like a step backwards. It's harder to find programs, simple things like checking properties of a file or even copy and pasting seem like more work now. I think they made it look sleeker while sacrificing utility.

People often reminisce fondly about American jobs paying wages that were high enough that a family could live on one income, and workers had pensions, benefits, and job security. They like to think these were "good-paying factory jobs", as if there was something magical about "factory jobs" that elevated them above other jobs. No, it's because all of those jobs were union jobs. The decline of American wages, employee rights, and benefits is almost perfectly tied to the decline of American unions.

It's funny to me when people talk about games costing $70 when I distinctly remember spending near that amount for MegaTraveller 2 at Babbage's back in the day.

Hell, if we were just to look at Atari cartridges being $30, then applying what that $30 is valued today, and you'll see that games are still pretty damn cheap overall. With ballooning development costs thanks to increased attention to the medium, I'm seriously surprised it took this long just to get to $70, let alone when $60 became the norm.

They are cheap today because back in Atari and Nintendo days you had a few new game releases per month, but now you have a few dozen per day. If a game wants to charge $60+ it had better be leaps and bounds above everything else.

I like my preorders with a discount as a reward for giving them my money early...not with a price hike.

Still no clue why Biden hasn't gotten rid of the Trump Tariffs. They are one reason prices have gone up and there is scarcity. A con man who had to have trade term definitions explained to him ripped up trade deals, put massive tariffs on our imports and caused a manufacturing recession is running around blaming Biden for all of the problems Trump created.

I can think of at least 3-4 that need to go in our current Supreme Court. The ones who are tossing precedent and the Constitution out the window while pretending they are unbiased and that they aren't doing the bidding of the Federalist Society and the GOP.

I played the original but never finished it despite having all the DLC. The world just felt too empty and plastic, the moves felt very basic, and after doing some DLC, I out leveled the main story and lost interest. Tried to go back to finish it a few times, but lost interest every time. Anyone play Re-Reckoning? Is it any better?

Frankly, I couldn't care less about DRM free. I applaud them for offering it, but I generally play a game once, if that. Very few games do I come back to and want to play 5 or 10 years later. I've never had DRM become a problem on Steam except if it's something stupid like requiring you to log into Uplay after you buy a game on Steam. It's simply not usually an issue that crops up enough that I'd seek out GOG. The only thing I want is good deals and current games 99% of the time.
