Same! I use linux nearly exclusively and there are ways to use the Epic store, but it's not as seamless as Steam!

Can confirm.... It's pretty cool. I've had the opportunity to stand near the operating HFIR reactor at ORNL and several of the storage pools at INL. Water makes a good shield....

I still have a "Marathon Mayhem Olympics" sticker on my old snowboard and a "Myth II: Soulblighter" tee shirt that I wear while working on the car....

I miss the old Bungie.

The Marathon they were pitching looked horrible. No one who grew up with the 90's Marathon would ever think "anime extraction shooter".

It's like they were trying to blend Oni and Marathon. They should have thrown in some Pathways in to Darkness and Myth as well....

Maybe Ultima Underworld (1992) or System Shock (1994, 2 months before Marathon), both of which used free reticle aiming and let players look up and down.

That took me down a rabbit hole of game history, trying to figure out what was the first. Apparently Marathon was the first with unrestricted free look (mouse look). Several others implemented looking up and down but they were by keyboard or by clicking the edges of the screen.

The sadness of Fruit Stripe being discontinued will only last about 20 seconds. All that will be left is a flavorless, plastic like memory.

Westinghouse can't even make decent appliances, and people should trust them to make mini nuclear weapons - yeah, because no one will ever be able to weaponize one of these things, right? This has zero advantage over solar panels and wind pods and a ton of downsides they do not. And how is this thing supposed to be remotely cost efficient? From the follow-up article....

Huge difference between solar and wind. The new micro reactor is a good design. This is a high temperature gas cooled reactor that can co-generate process heat and electricity. The process heat side has many applications that will eliminate the need for burning fossil fuels. From the perspective of a "carbon free" goal, this reactor can easily be justified considering how many tons of CO2 it will eliminate.

The CA$80M number is not unjustified. The amount of regulation, licensing, and testing required before these can be built is staggering.

Full disclosure... I'm part of the supply chain for this exact reactor (among others). I also am in the supply chain of the solar industry. From seeing both, I'd support nuclear any day over solar.

Both my dogs got that respiratory thing. Not fun. The 1 year old Airedale caught it while at the vet to get neutered. Came home and a few days later started coughing. A week later he was at the pet ER (on a weekend of course, when the regular vets were closed) after he was struggling to breathe. They took a x-ray of his lungs and found a significant case of pneumonia. They wanted to keep him over the weekend with IV's for a grand total of ~$6k. Nope. I love the dog but we'll take him home and do what we can... We did keep him there for a few more hours with a IV dose of antibiotics and fluids. That was about $1k for the day... They told us there was something going around that had not been figured out yet but they had several dogs pass away from it. We brought the good-boy home and with a strong antibiotic regiment he started getting better.

Then our other dog (Goldendoodle) got it. Thankfully our regular vet was open and we got him on the same antibiotic and he recovered OK as well.

Not fun watching your dogs struggle to breathe and trying to keep them comfortable.

Where do you people find the time to game on your Steam Deck? Seriously, I mean if I have an hour or two free to game (which has grown increasingly rare these days) I usually sit down on my gaming PC to do it. Anything less than that is usually better spent on my kindle or phone or whatever and just isnt worth the effort. Not criticising, just perplexed and amazed that people game on handhelds.

On my frequent 6 - 12 hour airplane rides....

Makes total sense and is probably the best choice. You missed the word "temporarily" in the sentence about laying the people off. By classifying it as a layoff the employees are able to quality for pubic assistance (unemployment, etc). Margins in manufacturing can be pretty slim. There's a good chance that place would be in very bad shape if they tried to pay 500 people as they fix the outage... Good chance it would put the place under unless it was backed by a large outside corporation (which this one does not seem to be).

In the machine shop that I work at (~90 people), I doubt there are more than two or three that would be equipped to help in a situation like this. We've got 8 people that are considered "office workers" and there rest are machinists and production technicians.

It seems that choice has nothing to do with corporate greed and but rather keeping the place strong to continue to employ 500 people.

Wow, I'm having pangs of jealousy. My beloved Hudson the wonder dog was an Airedale Terror. She was amazing. Just be prepared for the mischief that can be caused by a super-smart dog that has a somewhat evil sense of humor.

He's our third. Our first was Mocha and she lived a good 13 years. The first 4 years was a non-stop adventure of escapes, chewed up EVERYTHING, and joy. She mellowed (a tiny bit) after that and was the classic smart clown. We got the second one (Java) when Mocha was still alive. Sadly, he passed away from cancer at 3 years old. Broke our heart. Picked up our Golden Doodle (Dutch) shortly after that and he was with Mocha about 2 years. Our house has not been the same without an Airedale and we've known we need another. Kaldi is now filing that void. He's fearless and SMART. We're doomed!

Wow.... so many memories. This game will be embedded in my brain to the grave.

The incredible power of a text only adventure. That cave was immense and limited only by my imagination... XYZZY!

As a second grader playing it in ~1982 it was mind blowing....
