Happy about that. Ozark is great and all great things must come to an end (or stop being great).

I also think that going into a season knowing it is final is a good idea. It opens up design space as well as setting expectations.

Fantastic news that the final season will be 14 episodes. Some shows taper down episode count towards the end, which leads to "action packed" but ultimately unsatisfying episodes, as exemplified (in my oppinion) by game of thrones last seasons.

I played through most of the first half of the game recently, and I cannot for the life of me notice any real improvements.

Not saying there aren't any, but they are not obvious in the trailer.

Either way it is going to be interesting to see if any progress has been made in nearly 13 years...

I also picked up control. Not anywhere near done yet, but absolutely loving it. More than anything it reminds me of Prey without the jump scares. The attention to detail and, the amazing art style, and the creepy atmosphere is very similar. I would also be very surprised if the creators were not influenced by Twin Peaks while making this. It has a few of the elements and definitely the atmosphere.

The combat is good, and the environmental destruction is amazing, but it feels like the game could be heavier on the mysteries.

Well that’s nice of them. I picked up Control at the start of the sale and I’ve finished the main campaign. It’s not that it’s terribly short; it’s terribly compelling.

If you won’t buy from EGS, that’s your decision. Assuming it shows up on other stores, I highly recommend Control. Its like Warehouse 13, but done with the gravity and detail focus of X-Files. They clearly spent a LOT of time world-building, which isn’t the focus of gameplay videos. Yes, you absolutely have a lot of giddy room-destroying combat, but there’s also a surprisingly deep world it happens in.

Epic have my utmost respect for one reason that is afaik unique to them:

When they made it big they took the money they made and siphoned it back into gaming.

You may disagree with how they are doing it, but while every other big hitter is sucking as much money as they can from gaming Epic are essentially "stealing candy from kids" (fortnite) and giving it to game developers (and us).

Gog is easily my first choice for third-party games, but Epic is a strong second.

Creative freedom and ownership sounds like a silver bullet here. Epic is getting serious, and I like it.

50M USD in revenue from october 2018 (when the game was already more than 3 years old) is very strong. GOG revenue comes in addition, obviously.

While The Witcher 3 clearly still is one of the best games in the genre and therefore has long legs I'm still going to assume that a lot of this comes down to the fantastic success of the netflix-series.

Anyway, I'm glad CDPR won't have finanial woes going into the release of Cyperpunk 2077.

I never played "xbox"-halo and I think a thick nostalgia-filter must be a requirement to enjoy this series on the PC.

I'm actually a little excited about this. It feels like there has been a very negative trend the last decades where success in singleplayer games has led to a push in multiplayer games (negative for me since I prefer SP).

I do play some multiplayer games, and while i do not play league, legends of runeterra blew me away with the incredible quality for an early beta / preview, so I am very interested to see how Riot can contribute in the singleplayer space.

Anyone played this?

How open world and open ended is it, compared to Sniper Elite 4 or Metal Gear Solid V?

Edit: They fixed the bug.

It's not "open world" at all, rather there are a list of missions that you will progress through. The missions are large and contain multiple objectives and challenges. The game is more like Hitman than for example MGSV in that regard.

As a stealth/sniper-game it is pretty good. There is less wackyness than in Hitman, which may be good or bad depending on your preference. I have not completed the game and there is a superannoying bug (in game mouse cursor) on the GOG-version, which I am unsure whether they have fixed or not yet.

Apart from the bug the game is solid enough. Not a masterpiece, but it feels more focused and refined than previous Ghost Warrior-games.

Sniping is pretty satisfying except you can't turn off (AFAIK) in-scope wind-adjustment even on the hardest difficulty, which is really odd.

Look up "valve time" before you go investing in HW.

Better to wait and see if the game ever releases, and if it is actually good.

Not really my kind of game, but I have watched centerstrain01 on youtube playing the hardest difficulty, and it looks pretty good for what it is.

My skepticometer is going nuts. It's not enough for the game to be good, it must be revolutionary. They succeeded once with HL, I don't think they can do it again.

If one does not love MGS there is probably no reason to be all that interested in DS. I never played MGS on playstation (because I never had playstation) but when I finally came around to playing ground zeroes and later phantom menace I realized how special the games are.

My theory is that one of the reasons so many people love the MGS-games is the unusual attention to detail. So, even if DS surely is a very different game from MGS I hope that the attention to detail will carry it for me.

Absoluely a must buy for me.

I almost went for the founders edition, but I decided to skip it, and I think I made the right decision.

It seems google doesn't understand their own product. They are selling it as some kind of budget xbox when it really is the perfect platform (assuming it works on a tecnical level) for games as a service. Now they are selling inferior HW as a service? That does not work for me.

They need to up the offering. For exeample if they make all games free to play for an hour+ they would have at least one compelling argument. Integration with other platforms and importing licenses people already own should also be considered a minimum in my opinion. I have most of the games on this list that I want.

So, I guess they don't want us as customers, but I don't see how they offer much value to "console kids" either.

Seems well made so far. A lot of cool dialogue. Combat is not fantastic, but not bad either.

For the time being (beta-phase) the xbox game pass for pc is really paying off for me.

I am pumped for the game, but I think a delay makes sense. The gameplay videos they have shown have not been impressive. Hopefully the delay will result in a higher quality product.

I got it during the "fortnite"-sale some time back and have played a couple of hours.

It's a good enough puzzle-shooter. It's simple in every aspect, but for me everything has worked well and been intuitive.

I'm not a huge fan of the movies, but I liked the style of the game and that's why I got it. It has elements of superhot ape out and my friend pedro, but is definitely not very similar to any of those games.

Most of all it is fairly relaxing step-by-step action (with more focus on step-by-step than action) game in a fairly interesting setting. Art style carries it for me.

My main criticism is that the game (so far a couple of hours in) doesn't do a very good job of making you feel bad ass, which makes it sort of miss the mark a bit.

All in all I am enjoying it.

Disclaimer: I may have had a brewski while playing...
