I'd leave too, with all the SJW thought police taking over companies and destroying creativity.

If you want to live completely free, you should move to Somalia. There aren't any thought police there. In fact, there aren't any police there at all.

pfft. He doesn't need to go that far. There are plenty of places in the US where you can get an off the grid homestead and you're essentially on your own. You can't really use the internet if you don't want to be exposed to the thought police, or new ideas, or different opinions, or other people's beliefs. Shrug.

I'm hoping Ancel invests his times well and makes a difference. Everything seems like it's burning these years.

Microsoft: Come back, honey. Won't hit you again. Really. Ever. Honestly. Trust me. Just don't try to behave like a bitch again - OR I WILL BEAT YOU INTO A BLOODY PULP.

Let's see how intelligent Bungie really is.
That's not really how it was in practice. Bungie has been a hot mess since they got their independence from MS. Bungie's management really has no idea what they're doing, and while they might not have liked someone else calling the shots, at least MS was able to keep them focused and on track. While I'm no fan of Microsoft, this honestly sounds like good news to me, and I think it can only improve Bungie.

This.

It's always a hard balancing act of "we'll fund you" vs "we want creative freedom to do whatever regardless of cost". MS was probably too dominating before but I think they've learned their lesson. The seem much more hands off with their recent acquisitions (e.g. linkedin, double fine, inxile). And, they do have deep pockets.

I know absolutely nothing about Where the Water, but I have heard good thing about Railway Empire just always with the caveat that it gets old rather quickly. While that is a major concern in a retail game, it is a relatively minor quirk when the game is free.
If you enjoy reading and odd quirky games then give Where the water tastes like wine. It's... different. Probably too risky on the whole to play for the price of admission but if it's free it's worth taking a look at.

If you have a lot of time and like a large variety of games the game pass is really a good deal. Even at their newer price. That's $120/yr or 2 newly released AAA games. OTOH, game pass's library is really very good. They have a ton of good (and weird) games. If I _had_ time to play a mountain of games I'd do game pass.

If folks are willing to pay for cosmetics and that helps fund a better game then I don't see that as a bad thing. As long as it's not gameplay mechanics then it's fine imho.

Played the game all night long and it's an absolute blast, feels just like Quake, super fun

I had the exact impression instantly when I tried it. "This is quake!"

It's free to play but quake LAN parties were free to play and this feels exactly the same. That said, getting waxed reminded me how out of practice I was with first person shooters.

I put several hours in yesterday. WL3 is, so far, better than 2. Overall production quality and polish is better (look and feel, responsiveness, game mechanics, UI, etc). It's not perfect by any means but WL2 was pretty rough around the edges.

Combat is better (more xcom like than WL2 was) and, imho, is waaaay better. I'm too early on to speak to the story but the intro area has plenty of reactivity to it. That probably doesn't matter much overall in the story though. I'm on Serious Jerk difficulty and find it pretty well balanced which is nice.

I finished WL2. It got long in the tooth near the end but I thought the story wrap ups for decisions in game were superb. It was probably one of the most satisfying endings I've ever played in a video game.

Overall, I'm very happy so far.

This is the most helpful review I have read yet. Thanks! Feels like I should add this to the wishlist.
Glad it was helpful. If you get it I hope you enjoy it.

Brian Fargo seems to have a much more tongue in cheek/slapstick streak that he likes in his games. And it's evidenced by pretty much everything starting with the much maligned Bard's Tale 4. If you were expected BT3 gameplay then you were sorely disappointed but if you imagine it as a stand alone with no pedigree it's a rpg with a silly charm that doesn't take itself too seriously and it's fine.

I backed this (their physical box is wonderful -- way more than I was expecting compared to WL2's). I wasn't disappointed with WL2's game so I felt comfortable backing WL3. Glad to see the reviews are good. I was a bit worried after having tried the alphas but they're alphas so...

They didn't do DLC for WL2. I wonder if that will change in the MS world.

There's plenty to keep me occupied though, I haven't even started Deadfire yet and BG3 will probably be out before I finish WL3.

I'm all for this ruckus. Hopefully, something positive comes out of it. This duopoly needs to end. Or, monopoly if you're looking to access a specific OS's customers. Devs have no choice but use the apple store to access apple's userbase. Same for Google's.

It's almost like how you don't really have any choice for your cable provider and they somehow all cost the same and their service is all generally crappy.

I dont usually get Collectors editions, but his is one of those game I would probably do it. If they offered a illithid Statue like they did for the DOS2 Collectors. Larian really needs to let us know if there will be a CE.

I wish I knew what quality it'd be like before it came out. If it was like the WL3 box it would be a no brainer.

Yeah, it's really not a left vs right thing. When corpos have enough money to buy/lobby both sides with money left over it's no longer a govt problem. And politicians really don't cost much. How much do the ones that get caught swindle? A few hundred thousand? A few mil? When you're making hundreds of billions that's a drop in the bucket to make sure the laws blow in your favor.

Wow, and that just came out too. So, it's not even old games that have already been monetized. Still, there's only so much time for games. At this rate the free collection of games I haven't gotten to yet will exceed the paid games I haven't gotten to yet.

That's actually amazing.

Booker being the bad guy had hints sprinkled throughout the story and the ?twins? effort to fix the dimensions is also throughout the story. It's readily apparent even at the outset with the strange dialog while they're rowing to the lighthouse but it makes no sense until you've played through the game and gain context. Re-watching that conversation _after_ knowing everything makes that conversation make total sense and a lot of things the characters do throughout the game become "oh.... I see what you did there..." moments.

It's sort of like Fight Club where you find out at the end they're the same guy and when you re-watch it then you see the clues (and all the times brad pitt flits in for a frame or two in the background becomes obvious). But the first time through you don't notice it.

I quite like that sort of story telling.
