I like both the earlier start combined with continued/breaking news postings throughout the day. If i had to place a percentage on each it would e 70% / earlier start, 30 / continued/breaking.

Is there anyway the site could have a breaking news red flashing banner /s

Not gonna to lie.. That was like listening to Einstein talk to a gold fish.

90% of what John says I don't understand, but like Morgan Freeman's voice I just keep listening.
I've saved it for later, I'll feel proud if I can fool my goldfish brain into understanding 20% of what Carmack says.

i'm in the market for a new phone. anybody have a recommendation? android, mid-tier preferably, or last gen, good camera. SD card slot a bonus but not necessary.

I got a Moto G5 from Costco a few months back for $170 or $180? It's running Android 8.1.0 atm. I have a 32GB SD card in mine, not sure what the max mem is. Cameras are 13 and 5 MP. Battery isn't great IMO but I don't use the battery saver stuff either. However it comes with a rapid charger and it is really effing fast. Basically 0 to full in an hour. I don't like how integrated it is with Google so I've disabled as much of their shit as I can and I use apps from a company called Simple Mobile Tools on the Gplay store. I encourage everyone to use them. They fast, light, clean, work well, and the guy that makes them actually respects peoples privacy - which is why he started making them. They only ask for necessary permissions. Well worth supporting the guy. Good enough phone for the price point IMO.
Thanks for the info on Simple Mobile Tools, I'll put that in my toolbag.

The opening scene with Christoph Waltz in that farm house is one of my favorites in any movie. It gives me chills to watch it, and it immediately put him near the top of my "best actors" list.

jdreyer, Dacote - Recieved the 2080TI at work. I'll keep you updated on the 1080TI.
Let us know how much of an improvement it is over your other card.
I plan on updating my test guide with New sheet. This will also include my memory upgrade although I suspect the extra 16GB will have little impact on the FPS. The 2080TI should be handling the bulk of that.
The test guide is public but the New sheet asks for permission.

Exactly, I thought the second season was way better than the first.
Alas metacritic ranks season 1 at 76 and only gives season 2 a 78.

Ionizing radiation damages electronic equipment. Components can be "hardened" to shield them from the effects, but I doubt such old soviet-era equipment was built for such a hostile environment.

Yes I know that much but that doesn't explain why the prop fell off. It looked like it almost disintegrated.
The blade hit a crane guy wire.

This helicopter crash did happen in real life—there's even footage on YouTube of it hitting the crane line, and falling right out of the sky, just like in the show.

This entire thing is just hyped up to absurdity to sell more CPU's

I think it has more to do with confidence in Intel rather than being genuinely concerned in regards to MDS. Intel has been riding a wave of damage control ever since Spectre and Meltdown was discovered which was further compounded by the scope of the impact as well as the solutions which can undermine performance especially in older systems.

Just two days ago a new MDS, Zombieload, popped up. Intel's potential solution to this? Tell consumers they may have to disabled Hyper Threading. I'm still sure the chances of being affected are microscopic but this is how far down the rabbit hole Intel has found itself.

I'm not at all concerned about my system getting compromised so I've been more or less ignoring the mitigations but it leaves an incredibly sour taste in my mouth when consumers are asked to pick up the slack because Intel put performance over security whereas AMD has hardware mitigation out of the box and are quickly gaining ground.

... this probably doesn't address the point you were making. Caught myself in a tangent.
forum post snippet
"Intel engineers haven't respected ring 0 kernel mode security for ages. Its why their hyper threading has major issues... I mean their unpatched chips basically don't bother to check if bits have permission to be there until after they execute. (just saying it out loud even complete laypersons know that is bad... lets unlock the door and then check and see if that shady looking dude had a key)"

Thanks ChadD
