Wow sounds like the dude who did Banished should be suing these guys. Shame, I was hoping this was going to be good.

The way game design works is you can copyright assets and names, but you can't copyright ideas. If you could, id would be the only ones doing FPSs, Command & Conquer would be the only RTS series, etc. Remember how a cool new mobile game would come out a few years ago, and Zynga would release a clone of it 3 weeks later because they could churn them out that quickly with their devs working in shifts 24/7? They'd be basically exact clones, but nothing could be done, because you can't copyright game mechanics.

The upside of this is all the great games that come out standing on the shoulders of what has come before: Battlefield, The Witcher, Overwatch, any racing game, etc.

How dare you tell somebody that they are free to do as they please with their own work. This is the most blatant trolling I have ever seen. TROLL ALERT /s

Mentioning the original (2006) game 16 times while also referencing it 3 additional times in the CONs section does not a review make.
We get it, in your "review" you're upset that they used 4 letters of the alphabet that had been used 11 years ago for a dead ip.
But what you wrote was a thinly veiled rant not a review. Rant has 4 letters and review has 6, please make note of the difference.

And when people mention the fallacy of your wordy diatribe you bring up their hypocrisy by pointing out the outrage if something like this would have happened with the much cherished ip, Half-Life. All the while clearly ignoring the fact that there was Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2 Episode 1 and Half-Life 2 Episode 2.
Not to mention Blue Shift and Opposing Force.

You've mentioned logic several times but obviously don't know what it means or how to apply it.

You're right, how dare I reference the only other entry in the franchise that gamers have known and loved for 11 years when the reboot is absolutely nothing like it. You're right, it's useless information that nobody needed to know about.

What's that? no one loved it? The user and critic reviews say otherwise, but I'm sure that your opinion and that of the other 9 people in this thread supersede all of that.

I should have probably just written about the gameplay, graphics, story, sound design, etc. Oh wait I did, it was all very mediocre at best.

"Dead IP" lol, sure, I'll give you that one, Arkane killed it.

Again, tell me why Half-Life's IP is "alive" when the last full game was released 13 years ago, but Prey is "dead" when it was released 11 years ago. Square that circle and I'll say that you have a shadow of a point.
You not only referenced the dead ip, you kicked it several times, beat it within an inch of it's life and and drug it around your whole review rant. Making sure everyone knew what you knew. Believe me, we know.

You have repeatedly mentioned Portals as one of the original game-play features that Prey introduced, but all Arkane did was blatantly steal the idea from a student project that was released as freeware in 2005 source.

I never claimed Half-Life was a live ip, far from it. The point I was making is that the Half-Life ip consisted of 4 games from Valve and 2 additional games made by other developers. The original Prey was not worthy of this treatment, nor did it receive it.

But we've never had a "Science Holy War."

Really? Pretty sure the race to create the first atomic bomb between United States and Germany during World War 2 wasn't based on religious reasons. And I'm pretty sure most weapons of war have been thought up and created by scientists for non-religious reasons. Archimedes used his prowess in mathematics, physics, engineering, and invention to create weapons of war. For example, the Claw of Archimedes decimated the Roman Republic during the Siege of Syracuse between 214-212 BC. In other words, don't act like science is innocent of bloodshed and races to created scientific inventions did not result in the death of billions.
If you can't grasp the difference between technological advancement and war then I pity you.

It's much easier to believe an intelligent creator with the power, wisdom and knowledge of a billion geniuses and super heroes combined created it all.
Belief in such a being has led to nearly every evil mankind has ever known. But we've never had a "Science Holy War."
Gods and religions are an invention of ignorance, created by superstition and perpetuated by those with no imagination.

In this thread someone mentioned a "straight forward solution" and someone else followed up with "a real solution". Both implied that we all know what those solutions are and that they must be simple.

Well, no one knows wtf "the solution" is. And neither do the above hit and run posters.

The solution is probably something you never thought about. (Hidden for the religious intolerant:) Part of problem, not part of the solution.
I was looking for something not based on fairy tales and fables. The op's had trolled a magical obvious "solution", oh wait that's just like your suggestion so nevermind.

You sir are a gentleman and a scholar, well put.

A gentleman and a scholar wouldn't wish for the death of anyone.

We can't all be as virtuous as you. We don't have the advantage of magic underwear and door-to-door religious sales experience.

The fact of the matter is that the closest we can come to objective morality is the sum total of suffering on this planet. Usually when someone dies, there's an increase in suffering. Their family, friends, and so on.

But some people, like Roger Ailes, are responsible for a lot of suffering. Ailes was instrumental in the current divided state of our country. He made a business of playing on peoples racism, bigotry, and fear for ratings, money, and success. He is THE key figure in the editorialization of our news media. There are others, but he was the big dog.

The only time a villain dying is a bad thing is when it makes room for an even worse villain.
You had me at magic undies.

But on the other hand Roger Ailes dead. Small comfort though because that guy should have been killed by some time traveler from the dystopian future.

Wishing death upon someone is the lowest form of human expression and a lack of empathy for the surviving family members.

Don't care. His death is a net gain for humanity, and would have been a lot more of a net gain had it happened sooner. He was human garbage. I'm not going to pretend every life is sacred, or equal, or even worth the oxygen is sucks down just to virtue signal how empathetic and kind I am.

When someone dies who I think has put more suffering into this world than they removed, I will absolutely be happy about it.
