That's not a new trailer at all, same as the one they released months ago.

Doesn't bode well if they can't even be bother to cut new footage, or at least re-edit it.

This is not a "new" game, it was originally titled Moving Hazard but for some undisclosed reason it was renamed/rebranded.

This is not a quick port, it actually has been announced for PC since August 2016.

This was always the plan, to continue funding on their own website after the kickstarter campaign had concluded.

However, not sure how they think they will manage to get almost $6 million when their 900k kickstarter failed with barely 1/4 of that initial goal.

With screens looking like the game is more suitable for PS3 than current-gen, and scheduled for 2020 to boot, the future of this project look dim at best.

Attitudes like that are the other side of the double-edged sword that is Early Access... The game is in early alpha testing, yet people bring expectations the same as they would for any AAA title on full release. I can't speak to anything that happened previously, but it only launched on Steam this past October and there have been multiple news updates outlining what they're working on, which is slated to come in a major update sometime Q1 '17.

A 10-man team doesn't work miracles overnight, I don't think waiting a few months for significant updates is too much to tolerate for that stage of such a project. Don't buy into a game this early if you're looking for something to play 40 hours a week with monthly content updates to keep you interested. Player count peaked when it landed on Steam, and it has steadily tapered off. It will peak again when the update comes, and that seems perfectly normal to me. There's only so much to do for the tourists who aren't actually interested in providing feedback.

As for the copyright issues, there are two sides to the story and it's hard to say which one is more accurate. The guy who complained to Valve is a programmer who created an MMO starter kit for UE4, which he integrated to be used in the game in collaboration with the studio. He claims he was being screwed out of money he was supposed to be paid once they hit Early Access (apparently they didn't have a formal contract), so soon after that was when the DMCA takedown happened.

NeuronHaze has since replaced him, as well as all of the game code he contributed, and claim he wasn't paid because he stopped working a while before they launched on Steam, and when they offered to buy him out in order to keep using his code, he never responded. They also say they're suing him for extortion and damages caused by the takedown (it definitely delayed the work they're doing now and hurt the game's reputation).

I picked it up for $12 from the Humble store sale going on now. I don't care about any drama, all I know is they have some interesting ideas and as of the past few weeks they seem to be on track to start making them happen. I hope they can pull it off, but of course that remains to be seen. If at the very least I can get a decent amount of fun out of it while it's in Early Access, that's still $12 well spent.

Project Genom has no grouping mechanic, it has no in-game mail system. When your inventory is full (which happens frequently since the inventory space is TINY) and you get new missions rewards you lose it without any warning (other MMOs have it sent to your mail).

Those are some basic staples for any MMO, yet totally missing in PG.

It even went backwards when it came it Steam Early Access. It used to be seamless open world, when you went from the ARK to outside there was no loading, now there is (long) loading involved.

The game has been in alpha/early access WAY before it came on Steam. They have been selling an alpha version through their own website for a year prior, which I played since hoping for decent progress yet little to nothing is being added in terms of content nor functionality. Neither has happened in over a year.

That on top of the fact that their main trailer is not even representative to what the game looks like. It looks way worse graphically (mediocre at best), most of the items/enemies/weapons shown off are not in-game at all.

First you had a horribly laggy/rubberbanding game, so they decided to completely re-write the net-code, causing a delay. Then they had a falling out with the main programmer causing the game code to be re-written as well. More delays..

All the while the player count dropped from an all-time high of 1200 people (quite sure that's not very impressive either) to 40.

That's not just "tapering off," that's a mortal nosedive.

In all of this NH also decided to take on a new dev team for a different project, launch a failed kickstarter for it, and has already been dropped in the meantime.

During all this drama there most likely have no been any relevant sales/revenue so yea, smells like a fail.

It has since come back to Steam after NeuronHaze and the main dev settled.

It has been well documented, so I'm sure a google search will give you any and all details.

Wait, so the original developers had an arguement with Idea Fabrik over the HeroEngine (saying it was shit) causing them to shut down the game over a year ago while they ported the game to Unreal Engine 4, only to now sell the game to the very company they separated from who will most likely continue to use the gimpy engine ?

What the hell?

Maybe everybody missed it, or Activision quietly updated their FAQ, but since the game launched it confirmed that Infinite Warfare is NOT Play anywhere compatible, so PC users can not play with Xbox One players. This was never brought up before, indicating Activision probably kept this on the down low.

The Steam and Microsoft Store PC versions are not compatible due to the Win32/WP API issue that people have been up in arms about although Microsoft issued a brief statement saying "We support cross-play between devices and platforms for partners who want to enable it," indicating that the Steam/Microsoft store incompatibility is Activision's doing (or maybe they simply didn't care enough for the few people that would go through the Wondiws Store to get it in the first place).

You had a $40 million lawsuit to settle, and now you need money. We're onto you WC!

If they were serious about listening to feedback they would have made the expansion cheaper, reward your fan base by making the expansion 20% off, not the game itself (which the fans obviously already have).

Still waiting for the DirectX12 update that was promised last year!
