This game is cancer. I still can't believe how popular it remains to this day. Despite the lies, false promises and unmet goals. It had great potential and way back when it was in beta and for the first year or so since it came out of EA it was pretty good fun and headed in the right direction. Then it became P2W and it all went downhill from there. Fuck this game, but more importantly fuck these developers. They are the scum of the earth.

Also since we're throwing around false equivavelences all over the place, would you send someone to pound-em-in-the-ass prison for cheating on their wife?

That's cheating too, right?

People who make cheats for online games affect the monetary livelihoods of those who created the game. In effect, cheat creators steal. So yes, it's a crime, and even more so if they charge for cheats.

Yes, but you could argue that this is a problem - in part at least - of their own making because they don't allow players to host their and moderate their own servers. I used to play on a heavily moderated server in my CS days and there was always at least one mod on if not several so any cheating got nipped in the bud almost immediately.

Corporations rip off people all the time too and no one goes to jail so why should they? Or perhaps they just need to incorporate their services so they don't go to jail. I'm not saying they shouldn't be punished I just feel it's more of a civil matter than a criminal one. Put people on the hook for damages and punitive damages and it'll stop without wasting tax dollars on police, criminal courts, and jails having to get involved.

This.

Making AND selling cheats is organized crime

As far as I'm concerned, if there's no victim having his or her free will infringed, there's no "crime".

This is BS...

It's not about infringing free will. It's about stealing money from those who created the game.

Morality is really warped in today's society.

So if developers developed cheat codes for their own games and marketed them and sold them, would that constitute a crime?

You're mixing apples and oranges, cheating in games only affects the bottom line of the developers indirectly, it DIRECTLY affects the non-cheating players of the games, destroying their enjoyment of the game. This is where the worst part of the "crime" lies IMO.

But if the enjoyment is destroyed, they do not play it. If they do not play it, they do not buy DLC or microtransactions. They do not convince their friends to play it.

But if you preorder, they already have your money! And that is why children you should never preorder games.

Seriously though I get what you mean, but the effect is indirect, and very very hard to measure (if not impossible taking into consideration user drop off, bad customer service, poor support etc. etc.). Also cheating has not exactly stopped PUBG from topping the player lists on Steam, week after week, month after month etc.

(One other thing to consider, cheaters usually get banned by CDkey. All they have to do is buy another copy of the game and they can play/cheat again.)

Huh, overwhelmingly represented by one country. It's almost as if that country has set the example that cheating is okay.

A socialist country does not conform to capitalist values. In absolute socialism "Intellectual Property" can't ever be considered the property of the individual, actually if we take it further property is meaningless in such societies, as everything belongs to everyone. Equating cheating to IP theft only makes sense if you believe the two to be equivavelnt. "Cheating" is done for personal gain, something that is also considered immoral in socialist societies.

You realize arrested doesn't mean convicted right? Yes even in China there is something called due process, though it's significantly different than what you are accustomed to.

Cheating in games leads to cheating in life, so yeah I think these kids got what's coming to them. China has clamped down hard on corruption and despite the western propaganda they take pride in the way their society is structured.

Watched Angry Joe play the private beta, it looked pretty dull. Heavy bullet-sponge enemies, poor AI, and not much variety in mission types. Graphically it was very pretty.

I kinda feel like I've typed that before not too long ago.

It has the best AI out there or right at the top, perhaps what you saw wasn't all that, but unless they went backwards, it will be as good as we get with PVE shooters.

AI is abysmal, video evidence:

Best Mechwarrior game since Mechwarrior2: Mercenaries! My personal GOTY 2018. I actually bought it at launch and played and finished it bugs and all.

The multiplayer is fun too, I did a bit of that and it's quite a bit of fun. Though I imagine it's more fun if you have some friends to play against instead of random strangers.

Mass Effect 76, good grief what a list.
Games nowadays are a lot more complicated than ones that fit on a single 3.5" floppy and was made by a team of one.

iow nothing to see here

Except Anthem isn't really that complicated. You have two mission types. TWO. For the entire game. You also have three strongholds. You have a large open world, that's split apart with hundreds of loading screens. So, basically it's not an open world. Compare Anthem with any other open world game and it fails pretty miserably in variety and that's not even touching the technical issues with the game. (I.E. Loading Screens)

Uh, no. One of the worst headlines I've read in a while. This would be like measuring your driving speed based on the rate you are passing the rock seven miles under the road. Perhaps this article was written by a flat Earther? That's about the only way it makes any sense...

Not a good analogy. The headline is not as misleading as you imply it to be. The important bit is that the actual speed of the airplane is measured relative to the ground, this is what matters in air travel. The airplane itself is not breaking the sound barrier, relative to the air, but it is reaching the speeds implied relative to the ground. So yeah, the aircraft is not breaking the sound barrier (aerodynamically that would be impossible for a passenger jet) but to an observer standing on the ground, it's definitely traveling faster than sound.
