In EXO ONE, the focus is shifted away from traditional sci-fi and space game tropes, such as space combat.

Interesting way to say: "space combat can be tricky to design and code, so we`ll just skip that bit"

I`ll swap fifty cookie-cutter roguelites for one proper roguelike.

This one looks bland and seems to have the same "let`s get on the ARL-lite bandwagon" vibe. But that would be sort of okayish if not for the price: nearly 30 bucks? What in the flamin` hell?

Eh, same reactions, different crowds. There's plenty of gay weeaboo stuff out there, and it has its fans as well. Mostly girls and women.

Nice try, but even you must know it`s just a load of old balls. Care to name some of this "gay weeaboo stuff" and places where these alleged "girls and women" gather to discuss it? I mean, places as popular as the chan/reddit equivalents?

Is it as real as those subway men-only carriages?

I read your comment earlier, and thought you had a good point (perhaps could have been worded better). It probably would have gotten a different reaction if the protagonists were men.

Quite interested why was this removed. Is the word "homo" without the "sexual" bit a slur? Apparently so, at least according to Urban Dictionary. English is my second language and anti-gay semantics not my area of expertise, so I went with the second interpretation: "short for a homosexual".

Regardless, I thought it was rather obvious from the context that it was never intended as a derogatory word, but there you go. Path of a true SJW`s is a tricky one, I`ll tell you that.

And come on, when has Valve actually made a game? They're a store. Making games is so back-burner for them it's a running joke. As if they'd have to worry about impartial reviews for their own products... HA! They don't exist!

You miss the point completely. It`s not about Valve`s games getting preferential reviews but the fact that it`s in their interest to sell as many games as possible, hence to have as many positive reviews as possible. Rather simple.

Current system is just fine: if you don`t like lil` Johnny`s "dis game suXXXORZ" review, then move along and read another one. It`s the same with Metacritic. Anybody who has been around videogameing for a bit and has acquired some basic reading comprehension skills shouldn`t really have problem with recognising genuine reviews. Read a few of them and make a judgement based on averages. Usually works rather well.

The only REAL problem with these free-for-all reviews is astroturfing and hate/loved-in mass-spam campaigns. Quite easy to filter out though (my favourite template are the ones starting with "this is another dumbed down for console..."

So, a company hires journalists to review products it is selling. I`m sure as hell they would be impartial and unbiased. Absolutely no conflict of interest here, nosir, please move along.

Also, 100K pa to write some reviews? Is this like, industry standard? Nice gig, if you can get it...

Win 8.1 rules supreme - sentence I would`ve never thought of typing a year ago. I`m sure it will last me quite a few years still, and then will jump to some Linux thingy.

I will never "upgrade" to OS-as-a service BS model (ie: MS living in my PC), and if I really need it for TES 7 or whatever then the install will be only for games and firewalled to hell and back.

More people running around with their smartphones out sounds dreary, but yeah, it`s way better than being hooked onto some Candy Crashers digital zombie crack.

Also, the Pokemon charm is irresistible. Reminds me of the golden era when Japanese games were loved and respected, not being sneered at and dismissed as childish.

Feel a bit sorry for the boo-boys with their worn out and lame anti-procgen arguments - you can keep your linear-scripted-tedious games, no prob - but you`re missing out on something bigger.

In the words of our recent Canadian hero, I`m so stoked, my dudes. Sure, NMS may turn out to be heavily flawed - just like any other videogame. So many systems in such a huge world could be tricky to get right, especially being designed by a small studio and at the first attempt.

But even if, I believe it will be worth it - with this kind of openness and randomization, I`m pretty sure it will be possible to chisel your own adventure, even if the main systems fail to some extent. And if they work, it just might be the game of the generation.

At the moment pondering if I should pre-order - something I`ve never done before. But the concept itself could use support (and big kudos for making it DRM free too).

Silly me, I was worried that Mozilla Firefox might fold.

Honestly Mozilla Firefox probably should fold.

Yep, sure it should - and leave us with no alternative to the Google cancer.

My slightly customized Firefox works like modern version of 12.1 Opera - the best browser ever. There simply is no need for anything else, unless you`re kind of person who agonises over nanosecond differences in page load times (and I`m pretty sure they`re doing okay in this department too).

Great story, setting, horse models - whatever. Shame about gameplay.

Slick has a point about auto aim, but it wasn`t really that - once you hit the slo-mo, you`d wipe out everybody anyway. No challenge whatsoever (and blaming it on gamepad is daft).

This also removed the need for any upgrades, hunting, poker - anything. What`s the point when you always win?

when it's my time to sit and unwind I'm enjoying the labors of my shit bot and playing the actual fun parts of the game.

How is that not easy to understand? Do you not have a life filled with responsibilities?

There are plenty of games that are not part-shit/part-fun and don`t require such convoluted gymnastics to enjoy. I rather stick to these - you know, since our lifes are oh-so-busy and full of responsibilities, why waste time on half-baked and ultimately dishonest products?

You're expressing fear of the unknown which is not rational. You're implying that change is bad when you agree the system is evil. [..]You imply it would be chaos

Whoa, you really went on a wild "implying" tangent there, in response to a simple - and genuine (check the quantifier) - question.

Simple explanation on why abandoning the fed would be a good idea would suffice. However you struggle with that - the naive belief that everything would heal itself is not enough. Neither is proposing to "end the system in the right way". But what is the right way?

I`m not a fan of labels but if pressed I would stick with "radical leftie" - suppose I am sort of that, after all. But I also find people from "my" camp hugely infuriating: they`re mostly well-meaning but either have no plan for afters, or worse yet, start waving Ayn`s booklet around or cheering on Stalin/Castro or bringing up Alex Jones.

We cant` win this way, I`m afraid.

Endless Space was sort of solid, but also quite tedious. I`d much rather play Distant Worlds or Stellaris.
