EDF is a cult classic, so goofy it`s awesome.

Glad to see Rimworld still flying high, not so glad to see tha tpeople are still buying Starbound, that empty husk of a videogame.

Voting is easy and elections are excitable, but yeah, they don`t change much. Obama is the best case in point ever.

If you want real change - not a slogan - you need to get involved in grassroots movements and then keep at it, not just pop in for a minute because it`s summer and it`s nice to go to a protest and tweet about it on a gadget.

So, vote Hilaria in - much as I hate her - and then spend next four years trying to salvage good things from Bernie`s movement and turn it into real political force with a real candidate, who`s perhaps bit younger and not a turncoat. Then, who knows...

I disagree, I think this is a valid art style, without any need for nostalgia goggles. However of course it needs to be done well and also banging on about how awesome and retro your "pixel art" is can be super annoying.

I`m personally sick of lame "accelerated" games using some banal Unity asset store gfx only because "3D is king". Not always.

For me the "new" factor only counts when buying certain things like shoes, and from tech, monitors or HDDs.

Buying used is a bit of a gamble, admittedly, but I haven`t had a single thing die on me yet and I been buying used gear since forever. The truth is that quality PC components mostly cause problems when they`re new and untested - if somebody with a good rep on ebay sells a GPU or some such then it will most likely serve you well for a good chunk of time.

I tried Classic Shell, but didn't like it either. When the Win10 Start Menu search was working, just like with Win7, things I regularly used still only required me to hit the start key and type the first three characters before it was the top item, and all I had to do was press enter. With Classic Shell, it was showing different results.

Do people really do this? I mean, type/search to find regular stuff? What`s wrong with shortcuts?

And Total Commander, of course

I've been running a 4.7GHz 2600K for what seems like forever now and at least as far as gaming goes, even with money burning a hole in my pocket, there's nothing to replace it with that would be remotely worth it.

So am I, only at 4Ghz. This industry was always centered around hype and proportion of price vs gain skewed as hell.

It`s the same with the GPUs. Even if I was buying a new (new-used of course) card now, I`d still go for 780Ti instead of 1060. The gains seem to be minimal, meanwhile price is substantially lower.

Anyway, since G-Sync appeared on the scene it should be an ultimate priority for anybody upgrading in the first place.

I call these games "bubblewrap simulators". Tried most of them and it`s all about endless mining...kind of pleasant for 5 minutes, just like squeezing the bubbles and hearing the pop! - but ultimately empty endeavour.

Terraria is indeed the best of the lot, most resembling a real game. But even so, still waiting for one with much better that would utilize the environment much better and had wiser crafting vs gameplay ratio.

As for Starbound itself, it will always be tainted by their shady, endless EA tactics.

Nice to see some people so thirsty to see this game fail. I bet if that was anybody else, the narrative would be more of the usual "f**k the patent trolls".

I hope it will fizzle out, obviously, and that they don`t really have a legal leg to stand on. In this case it`s a good thing Hello are partnered with Sony: a small indie studio on its own could be in severe trouble when faced even with a baseless lawsuit.

As for the game itself, for those still on the fence:

Can`t wait, for the first time in years I`m genuinely excited about a videogame. Yay!

I think the comparison to Diogenes is bullshit

Pretty much. Diogenes was one of the coolest figures of the Antiquity, partially because he talked the talk AND walked the walk. Dude didn`t preach that poverty is a virtue and lived in a mansion like most of modern day fakers. His barrel-dwelling habits are legendary...

Imagine that pampered brat Milo standing up for anything? Not likely. But yeah, I get that thirsty alt-R desperados will try to weave some righteous narrative into his obnoxious tactics.
Anyway, if Milo is Diogenes, that probably makes Trump some sort of Alexander, cutting through modern Gordian Knots with the power of his blunt speech.

*sigh*

Milo, @Nero, Diogenes...my my, all these learned, ancient-sounding monikers. I`ll be bit more blunt: he`s just a low-life, bottom-feeding scum. Guess you can count me as a "detractor"

Seriously though, people who think this is just some innocent online shenanigans should get a bit of a grip: such mouthpieces influence and encourage others to cause real life misery and inflict serious damage by proxy.

Twitter can not ban every single asshole poster and the uproar over the Ghostbusters girl was huge, so they banned him. Not sure if that helps a lot, he`ll probably be even bigger, freedom-of-speech sorta hero to his minions now.

CDPR talks the talk, because of course they can`t come out and say that piracy is all right. However, their actions, company policy and sales figures speak for themselves.

However there`s another layer to this story: just like anybody who grew up in Poland in the 80-90s and played videogames, the whole core CDPR crew were pirates.
From Wikipedia:
Iwinski, in high school, sold cracked copies of Western video games at a Warsaw marketplace.

Lol, quite possibly I bought some off him.

Glad they didn`t forget their roots and proved that DRM Free philosophy can work pretty well, eh?

Dunno, I`d rather see some custom engine in action. It`s the always-samey U4E look here.

Miss the days when I was going to arcades to see some mind blowing gfx in action because poor PC-3D scene was not existent...

Well bye bye opera you now i the hands of chinese so i am out Book

Opera was dead since going full chrome. Nothing to do with "the chinese". 12.1 is the last decent version, still installed on my machine for nostalgia sake and as a backup browser.

I`ll miss it dearly just as I miss the wild heady days of pre-corporate internet. It was an amazing product, light years ahead of the competition.

There`s that Vivaldi browser thingy now, made by members of the original O-team - however it`s still fully based on chromium so of no interest to me.

Predictable bleating from PCMR. Dead Rising was in fact highly original and fun - if only you could let go of the usual must-save-everybody mindset and play for high score over multiple runs. Looking forward to this.

"Clunky", eh? Sure, a little bit. But of course all PC games are highly polished masterpieces with high-precision controls and zero-glitch policy, so maybe your remarks are justified.

That all sounds like a load of crap.

Sorry to have hurt your feelings. However, if you`re so offended because some guy on the internets may have indirectly alluded to your comment as "not commendable" then perhaps you should take a break from the medium, or grow a bit thicker skin.

Source? Do your own research, buddy. I don`t have to link up everything I say, it`s not a court of law, nor a matter of national security. I was never interested in getting a key, so remember this being mentioned vaguely and most likely not because he was predicting being scammed. Something more along these lines: https://www.reddit.com/r/RimWorld/comments/40g64v/some_concerns/

Overall, I suppose it`s easy to be oh-so-clever in hindsight but I tell you what: go on and spend 3 years coding an uber-complex game nearly non-stop (hence the burnout mentioned in the link), try to get it in best possible shape to release on a huge medium (unlike heaps of other devs who put few Unity assets together and call it EA), then release it - and if all goes without a hitch I will redact my "not commendable" post. Sounds fair, eh?
