Compared to Quake's speed, DOOM feels like Halo. Doom also has a two-weapon limit, which I believe Halo introduced and made standard. Any multiplayer game by id will be judged by Quake standards and DOOM doesn't measure up.
Id is about as much the "Quake id" as Bioware is the one that released BG. Doom haven`t had a real sequel since the Nineties. Halo was released 15 years ago and "2-weapons/slow" criteria is rather vague given that figure.
I`m not saying there`s no reasons to complain, it`s just that these complains seem a little misguided.
And a note to people like Suppa7 with the
" So Halo was actually downgraded for consoles. The regenerating health, little in the way of powerups and "hold you by the hand gently" gameplay"
madness:
-you either never played Halo or
-you haven`t got a clue what makes a great FPS game
I should`ve known
because I was there waiting for it, had my heart broken when MS kidnapped it and boycotted it for couple of years. Then my friends and The Edge 10/10 review messed with my brain, I borrowed an Xbox and had my blinkers removed.
To put it in context, I replay the original Halo every year or two and it`s still a blast, every time. Half Life 2? Played once, never went back.
