So you don't consider fact checking (that takes like, 5 minutes for this) kinda important for news sites ?

Article is beating that dead horse though, true Doesn't make it any less valid.

Yeah, sure, fact-checking, great stuff - but let`s not get carried away. It`s not exactly Benghazi or San Bernandino caliber scoop, we`re talking some glitch that might actually take more than 5 minutes to confirm (especially seeing as, you know, it was a hoax.)

Besides, it`s not the point of the "article"...you can see how gleeful that dood is that he can instantly jump to his fave topic.
It`s the typical 4channer-on-steroids trademark bullshit tactic that fueled GG and tried to pretend it`s about honesty in journalism and not misogyny and harassment. And the saddest thing is how many otherwise sane people fell for this BS.

So it`s all going downhill fast...Firefox is shrinking and google marches on. The heady days of early, open internet seem like another era...

And I can trump that “million apps” with 20 programs.

Their games have some interesting concepts, but the "art" and general vibe is far too whimsical for me. Also, the narrator...ugh.

Apple joined PRISM in 2012. But human memory has a span of about a week, so now they`re freedom fighters.

The preview from what i saw at Giant Bomb was really a disappointment. It really looks like they changed the whole to a giant parkour zoo and it doesn't look anything alike as in the first game.

I actually remember that the main complaints about the original was linearity and not enough freedom.

Then EA goes and makes it an open city, cue people complaining it`s a parkour zoo. I rest my case. Seriously, with this attitude it`s no wonder all the innovative titles get canned or never get sequels, or if they do, they`re dumbed down. Thanks, Obama!

Compared to Quake's speed, DOOM feels like Halo. Doom also has a two-weapon limit, which I believe Halo introduced and made standard. Any multiplayer game by id will be judged by Quake standards and DOOM doesn't measure up.

Id is about as much the "Quake id" as Bioware is the one that released BG. Doom haven`t had a real sequel since the Nineties. Halo was released 15 years ago and "2-weapons/slow" criteria is rather vague given that figure.

I`m not saying there`s no reasons to complain, it`s just that these complains seem a little misguided.

And a note to people like Suppa7 with the

" So Halo was actually downgraded for consoles. The regenerating health, little in the way of powerups and "hold you by the hand gently" gameplay"
madness:

-you either never played Halo or
-you haven`t got a clue what makes a great FPS game

I should`ve known because I was there waiting for it, had my heart broken when MS kidnapped it and boycotted it for couple of years. Then my friends and The Edge 10/10 review messed with my brain, I borrowed an Xbox and had my blinkers removed.

To put it in context, I replay the original Halo every year or two and it`s still a blast, every time. Half Life 2? Played once, never went back.

Procgen Starflight is kind of my wet dream, however skeptical that it is not gonna be just another FTL clone, which is the case with most of these games recently.

Colour me interested though...who knows.

This is the first I hear of this 10 year BS...guess Tories have been cooking it up on the hush hush. Last I heard it was some sort of 3 strikes and you`re disconnected kinda deal. It`s nonsense anyway, even with this scumbag government in charge I doubt they can ever get something so draconian through.

In any rate, UK is not perfect by any means but calling it an Orwellian nightmare by somebody from the good ol` US of A is a borderline farce. Lol...dude...have some perspective. I don`t have to worry about getting thrown in jail/shot on sight for small possession, jaywalking, or in general being alive. The cops are actually helpful most of the time.

I didn't care for the beta, but Halo's slow movement speed, regenerating health, relative player vulnerability, and atypical weapons were no where to be seen. I honestly don't see where the Halo comparison is coming from, unless its just a generic way of saying "I didn't like it."

Nailed it.

Halo was a FPS console hit...DOOM needs to be hated...we hate consoles ??? DOOM = Halo

PC Nazis at their dumbass best. Is DRS really that different from dynamic LOD or any other common tricks employed in games with complex gfx? Technically, what they do on consoles to maintain some sort of fidelity is actually quite impressive. Unlike some lazy-ass PC devs with their unoptimized garbage.

Do you shake your hate stick at Netflix too, when it drops the stream quality? Surely you only watch stuff on UTube when it`s in true HD and all your music is encoded in 24 bit flac, right?

Last but not least, you play all your games on Ultra in >=60fps (though true PCMR should balk at this peasant framerate)with some sort of Free/G/VSync enabled...goes without saying, eh?

Lol. This is not a rant. The stupidity of this whole phenomena is actually quite entertaining.

Star Wars? "No Country For Old Devs" more like.

They`re a Nineties crew, and should leave it at that. These "returns" are more often than not embarrassing disappointments - for every Avellone you have five Schaffers, it seems.

All these companies throw huge amounts of cash to lobby against such proceedings and mostly succeed. Also M$ always had an image problem while these are beloved Silicon V treasures.

I know it`s a drop in the ocean really, but at least they`re trying, unlike US which just keeps bending over.

Even the simplest item can be the key to unlocking one of the many puzzles and secrets lurking within this 5-8-hour voyage.

If it has interactive puzzles, it`s a game. If it doesn`t, it`s a walking sim.

(I still wouldn`t touch it with a bargepole - always detested Myst-likes - but that`s how it works)

To answer the latter: yes, it is. Creating actual gameplay is much more difficult (and expensive) than coding a sightseein` gallery, so some devs just say f-it, and go with the easy street solution.
