News Comments > Fatal Shooting at Game Tournament [Updated]

might actually be real come a couple days time

1. healthcare, especially the lack of mental healthcare and the ridiculous cost involved
2. the still taboo nature of seeking help for (1)
3. self diagnosis and medication

no balanced person would kill for a videogame.

but hell, these aren't sexy prime time topics. So we might never actually have a proper discourse on this , again...

in a country which can barely support VA, there's no way for them to have a proper mental health system

Not talking about preventing what happened here, I'm questioning why idiot kids have access to machinery like that at all. At the very least they shouldn't be allowed on public roadways with it.
Self driving cars can't come soon enough.

who wants a self driving supercar

having a CS:GO FPS system is pretty much one of the worse way to go about making a good shooting system

-random bullet spread (still can miss a person at point blank in CS:GO thse days) , random damage, bizarre range and accuracy, bad hit boxes (still can hit a sniper round despite the crosshair not even on the target in CS:GO still), lack of weight and heft, and so many other things wrong with CS:GO which had became institutionalized due to prized tournaments...

Every other day there is a study saying XxX is bad for you, then another saying XxX is good for you. Avocado, raw food, chocolate, alcohol, gaming, smartphones, social media, shock therapy, coconut oil and so on.

People will believe whichever study that confirms their bias. This recent alcohol study is excellent news for teetotalers. And in this thread we know who those are - they've come out of the closet!

white bread and BBQ too

they used data from 694 studies to work out how common drinking was and from 592 studies including 28 million people worldwide to work out the health risks.

a study on studies is generally bullshit, and they cannot come up with any conclusion that any amount of alcholol is harmful based on this study of studies since these studies themselves:
  • do not even test this hypothesis.

  • and if we were to take this study of studies as accurate, i might as well continue drinking as i have already drunk before in my life, considering how they insinuate that even a little does harm.

    Bioware talking BS.

if they was any real change to the narrative, they would proudly and confidently show it off like Dying Light 2. (which makes me want it out NOW!)

2nd, 3rd, 4th....and so on question of Big Interview

Q:The one change the demo did have is you could now play as male V as well. I was interested to see that regardless of the gender you always seem to wake up in the morning with a male companion.

Q:I ask because the option in it is to play as a male or female character type. If someone wanted to choose a character who was gender fluid, how would you portray that?

Q:Beyond the aesthetics, could you choose to have a different pronoun? Is that an option in the game?

game journalism in Western Europe is now this....

" If you are weeding out Fake News, there is nothing so Fake as CNN & MSNBC, & yet I do not ask that their sick behavior be removed".

Trump and his tribe keep saying this, but when pressed over what exact news stories are fake, not a single one has managed to provide evidence of it. They seem to be operating on the "keep telling a lie enough times and people will believe it" assumption. If all of their news is fake, or even 10%, it should be easy to prove, but none have done so.

"fake news" is more about selective reporting, nip-picking facts, deliberate omissions, bias in choice of narrative, lack of critical analysis, mixing of editorials with fact-based news, deliberate misuse of context or the lack of it, and even the choice made to run which news at which hour.

it was not about news where fake numbers or events are made up.

If by conservative voices you mean hate mongers and outright fucking Nazis, then yes. And deservedly fucking so.

Fuck you and your ilk for wanting to bring back goddamned fascism.

so like Antifa (violence and harassment against any speech they deem unworthy = classic fascist behavior) & BLM (violent rhetoric against police enforcement personnel by coopting racial identity politics ).

I think you need to freshen up on what fascism is. Anarchists like Antifa cannot also be fascists. Anarchy is in fact precisely the opposite of fascism.

which is why Antifa is a very dangerous animal. They are not classical anarchists that want no government, self-governence, laissez-faire and all that. They have media facing activists pressuring universities et al to shut down events , and they also have masked goons threatening protestors on the streets, AND they also have sympathizers in positions of influence and power to shut down any discourse that they deem as 'dangerous', and regularly they have unmasked leaders calling for books and other forms of media to be banned.

Their primary goal is a government that censor voices that they do not like. Now that is a classical fascist goal

(those that riot for the heck of it , as in real anarchists? They are nowhere near as troublesome as those annual car burning riots in France)

and anarchists with Guy Fawkes masks burning down government buildings only exists in film

The best option would be to eliminate term limits, ...

    What The Actual Fuck
    If anything we need more.

There are a lot of pros and cons to term limits for certain offices. I think that the Presidency should be limited to a single 6 year term though. Enough time to get major projects done, and the ability to tell your base to fuck off when they are being ridiculous because they can't threaten to not re-elect you. Two terms is awkward because it's only 8 years, as opposed to the decades congresspeople can potentially get, but there's still the burden of re-election to consider.

But for congress I'm more skeptical about term limits. Our political system is complicated and there's a lot for a new congress critter to learn. They aren't going to have a lot of contacts or political juice. It could create a revolving door of unqualified hacks who show up, take a few paychecks for voting a certain way, then go back to the private sector. Keeping the threat of re-election looming over the head of congresspeople is more important, I think, because they are representing a particular group of people with certain interests. In a way they SHOULD be pandering to what their base wants.

It's different for POTUS. The President is supposed to be working for all of us, so a situation where they are forced to pander to their base, no matter how crazy they get, is not very good.

problem is that these days, even the President cannot cancel and sign executive decisions without battling it through the courts. So even the President cannot enact policies that they were voted in for,in a straight forward manner anymore.

Three Kingdom's a reskin that does disservice to the period.

they should had upgraded their engine by now to support 100k plus battles.

the intricate diplomacy, subterfuge, the nefarious scheming is of course missing from a Total War game.

and the map looks like an artistic interpretation

sigh, too bad we no competitors in this type of game

And for anyone worried that the move into multiplayer territory will prevent private server and modification support in “Fallout 76,” worry not: both will be in the game. Bethesda is still sorting out the details, but Howard affirmed that the game will feature those elements.

“That is something that, given the online nature of [“Fallout 76″], is going to be very, very complicated,” he said. “But we’re committed to it, and we’ve been starting to design what that system is going to look like. It’s a complicated problem, but one that we are 100% committed to solving.”

No. No it's not complicated at all. Just have PvE and PvP servers, problem solved. These clowns are trying to reinvent the wheel thinking you can allow PvP in some form by tacking on a mild punishment. Griefers do not care. They'll just keep griefing regardless.

I imagine this asinine system will be scrapped in short order and they'll simply go back to PvE/PvP servers instead. Otherwise it'll cost them a lot of sales.

How about instead of assuming you know the best way for them to make their game, you go play something that does not have any risk in it or doesnt do anything new. This isnt everquest, and the attempts to make it have a "safe space" for people who don't like the type of gameplay it brings to the table, are people who shouldnt be buying the game in the first place. There are plenty of games you can play right now that dont have the prospect of any griefing, and Bethesda instead are trying to do something different. We need new paradigms in gaming, even if they dont hold your hand as much or make you feel safe when you're walking down the virtual street. It's not simply about the griefing, its about making compelling gameplay systems that can tackle that without turning the world into a monotone carebear fuckfest. Good on them for at least giving it a shot, I say.

dude, do you even build settlements in Fo4?

it's sure fun to destroy another's 10+ hour build, but is it fun if you were the owner instead?

and imagine the world where you can't cheat for 1000 steel , 1000 copper, 1000 concrete... ( ahem, without micro-transactions that is)

well, you don't ever expect japanese devs to say sorry for shoddy ports, or even admit performance is unusually bad .... so this response is for par for norm

the mindset is that they are doing a service for pc gamers by releasing it on the pc. An even more damaging viewpoint than doing it for higher profits.

the amount of chemicals they put in alcohol now days is probably a cause for the rise

worse thing is that these ingredients are not listed on your purchase

(some public funded institute should do a study on this. Pretty sure they will face stiff competition from the industry)

at least we know the junk in soda. We should have info on beer and hard liquor as well. And the poison they spray on grapes most likely creeps into your wine as well.
