To RogueSix's point, not only do 53% of Steam users only have 8GB of VRAM or less, but 58% game in 1080p. I wanted to game in 2k and 144 mhz, so that played a part in my purchasing decision as well.
Sorry but I never said that. What I said is:
- 53% of Steam gamers have played games from 2016 and BEFORE in the year 2024 (source is the 2024 'Year in Review' stats on Steam). There is no direct correlation of this number to VRAM and I never claimed there was. What I said is that this number shows that there is a HUGE market for cards like the 5060(Ti) series because a majority of gamers (53% is the majority after all) played games older than seven years in 2024.
- 69.64% of Steam gamers own a card with 8GB VRAM on board OR LESS (source is the Steam hardware survey, March 2025)
- Out of those 69.64%, 35.52% have a card with *exactly* 8GB VRAM which makes up the single largest group BY FAR... it also means that 34.12% own a card with LESS than 8GB VRAM
- The single largest group of 8GB VRAM owners (35.52%) is followed by 12GB VRAM cards at 18.42% so the second largest group is only about HALF the size of 8GB VRAM owners
- Only 7.18% of Steam gamers own a card with 16GB VRAM or more or, if we are generous and add the 0.73% 'Other' (could be RTX 5090 owners with 32GB VRAM) to this figure then it is 7.91% maximum of gamers who own a card with equal or greater than 16GB VRAM
- 56.49% of gamers have a primary display res of *exactly* 1080p and a total of 64.03% of gamers have a primary display res of 1080p OR LOWER
All of this proves that there is a significant market for 8GB VRAM cards. The resident haters need to make up your minds. You comedians like to call nVidia "nGreedia" (a real knee slapper right there!). You think a greedy company would release cards that no one wants? Really? Nope. Say about nVidia what you will but they know their market. They know these stats, too. 8GB VRAM is far and beyond the largest demographic on Steam with a huge lead.
Most people out there aren't like us core gamers. We are the niche, not them. Metric fucktons of peeps game on a budget and play old shit. FACTS. Proven by the numbers above that were drawn from Steam's publicly accessible info.
If someone doesn't want an 8GB VRAM card then they have a myriad of other options from nVidia as well as AMD and even Intel. Again: No one holding no guns to no one's heads. It's never been easier than today to make a somewhat educated purchasing decision because you have a gazillion hardware/gaming websites and YouTube shitfluencers to obtain any information that you might need for YOUR individual use case. Need more than 8GB VRAM? Don't buy this card. Simplez as fuck.

Surprised dog food for brains didn’t blame it on DEI, though there is always next time.

Decent card, but not worth the hassle of selling my 7800 XT for it.
So true, man I miss EVGA. That hassle would be non-existent. (I realize they only made Nvidia cards, but the point still stands).
Glad to see that FSR is finally catching up to DLSS, even if ray tracing & path tracing still lag behind (drivers could fix that). I want to see competitive cards from AMD, because competition is good for the consumer.
