Not to defend this guy against corruption but at least he was on the rational side of the violence in video games debate and served his country in the military.

Randy Cunningham was a vet, too, and was convicted for bribery and fraud back in 2005. The Starship Troopers theory that someone who puts their life on the line for their country couldn't possibly act against its interests just doesn't seem to hold true in practice.
I agree serving in the military doesn't excuse anyone from criminal behavior. I probably should have stopped at video games.

I lived my entire life being told witches weren't real and that I need to stop hwackin it off to Bewitched, The Craft, and Charmed. Turns out they are real, and they are ugly men instead of beautiful women. What a god damn blow this has been to my childhood.
And I'm guessing, your libido.

Someone should let the people in Hong Kong know that a 4D printer is impossible as the 4th dimension is time.
From the article...
"4D printing is conventional 3D printing combined with the additional element of time as the fourth dimension, where the printed objects can re-shape or self-assemble themselves over time with external stimuli, such as mechanical force, temperature, or a magnetic field."

FFS, I already loathe Amazon Video because you can't watch two episodes of anything without being thrust upon by a commercial for whatever retarded original programming they've got coming out... If Netflix starts doing that, too, I might as well just switch to Hulu.
Too late, Netflix has already started doing it on my Netflix app for Fire TV. You can hit play next or sit through 20 seconds of 'preview' for another show.

With this latest Windows update I seem to be getting an annoying message popping up when I boot asking me to sync windows with my phone. Does anyone else get this? If so, any idea how to remove it? I tried googling but all I got was instructions on how to remove the normal windows login screen.
Is it a native windows prompt, or did you ever install phone carrier or phone manufacturer software.

It looks like one of those notification popups in the lower right corner similar to the Windows Defender summary that sometimes shows up in the same area. I've never installed a phone carrier, phone manufacturer software or even said yes to those occasional website popups that want to send me notifications.

I don't even own a smartphone although I occasionally charge my ancient cell up with the computers USB port. But I always tell the phone just to 'charge' not be a device.

While HG gets some credit for continuing to release NMS bug fixes there are so many bugs right now pretty much everyone is left saying, "Yeah, but what about this?"

Like not being able to use the Plasma Launcher with the Blaze Javelin?

I noticed a couple new minor bugs with this patch. For instance, when you scan any of your ships in your freighter bay, they'll all show the same size inventory and tech space as the most recent ship you exited.

Still, I'm finding the game very playable and highly addicting. But I wonder if there are any UI mods out there like SkyUI was for Skyrim.

Not sure about the bugs, I haven't run into anything that's major or game breaking. and yes, at least they are pushing out patches. that's a good thing!

Here's a hint, when you buy a freighter or a cargo type ship. rename it with the name and a designation number being the cargo size of that ship. Makes it 10 times easier trying to figure to what ship has what cargo space.
Thanks for the tip. I didn't realize I could rename my ships.

Scratch staying at anything related to MGM Resorts for my next vacation.

Jeezus! Imagine surviving a mass shooting at a concert and for your troubles, months later you get a lawsuit in the mail. Not only do you get to re-live that night but now you gotta find the cash to hire a lawyer to respond.

Fuck Mandalay Bay. Fuck MGM. I wonder if the victims and/or their families can counter-sue for additional emotional trauma.

Edited to add:
As a public service, according to their website the following hotel/casinos owned by MGM Resorts...
Aria
Bellagio
MGM Grand
Mandalay Bay
The Mirage
New York-New York
Luxor
Excalibur
Circus Circus

Lions eat 'rhino poachers' on South African game reserve.

That's some serious karma right there, assuming they were actually poachers.

Yeah but...

There has been a rise in poaching in Africa in recent years, to feed growing demand for rhino horn in parts of Asia.

In China, Vietnam and elsewhere, rhino horn is erroneously believed to have medicinal properties, even though it is made from the same material as human fingernails.

More must be done to combat this superstitious stupidity. Animals the world over are endangered because of it.
Supply free v1agr@ to Asia, and you'll save the rhino.
Maybe there's a business for ground fingernail clippings marketed as "I Can't Believe It's Not Rhino!"

funcom... make AO2...

I remember running in to walls due to horrible lag in AO1's launch. You'd line the camera up with where you wanted to go (aim at a wall so you stop), push forward, then wait 30 seconds for it to catch up. Thought it was a shitty game. But man do I want an AO2. I tried going back to AO1 a year or two ago and just couldn't get past the interface.

I still remember the IGN quote "Rock Solid" proudly displayed on the AO box. I remember Funcom promising that the 'gold' version would be better than beta. Then that cluster**** of a launch happened. I've not been tempted to buy anything from Funcom again.

Funny, Trump enacts moronic trade tariffs that will cause the cost of Harley Davidson motorcycles to go up thousands of dollars. In response to his terrible decisions, Harley Davidson plans on moving some manufacturing overseas so that they don't go bankrupt, and Trump attacks THEM for it. Meanwhile, crops rot in the fields because Trump is deporting all the seasonal help, and farmers are worried they might go bankrupt because of the Trump Tariffs. Prepare for massive layoffs, pay freezes and for the cost of everything we buy to rise. Republicans should strip him of this tariff power and roll back the Trump Tariffs. No one person should have the power to levy tariffs on the entire economy. That's ridiculous.
I'm not laughing at you. I'm laughing at the idea that Mitch McConnell would have the balls to do anything about it.

Right, this trade war is just a speed bump. The real threat is automation. And not just for blue collar workers either. Day traders, accountants, investment brokers, lawyers, radiologists, etc are all under threat. Any job with large amounts of analysis and low creativity requirements are candidates to be replaced with AI. Millions will be out of work, replaced by machines. It's already under way, with the results being things like the opiod epidemic and the election of Trump.

I'd say white collar workers are much, much more in danger. Not only is it easier for software to do their job than hardware do much of manufacturing (robots still aren't nearly as nimble as humans, and that hasn't been changing rapidly), but there's more incentive to cut out someone making $250,000 than someone making $45,000.
Sadly this thread seems to have much more thinking about our economic future that what we're getting from leadership. I've yet to hear anyone from Congress or the White House provide a vision of what life will be like 50, 100 or even 20 years from now. Instead their best efforts are to stick their fingers into a dike made up of economic policy from the last century. And their worst efforts are to pander to people who want to turn back the clock.
