Blind Hatred isn't, and that's what's getting on people's nerves. People frothing in the mouth at just the thought of epic and then spreading their insanity on the internet. Also, a bad comparison Star Citizen will never get finished. Compare Epic store's first year to Steam or any other gaming storefront's first year and you would realize it has the same growing pains. In time the problems will get sorted out.Steele Johnson wrote on Sep 24, 2019, 01:25:
I guess that blew the wind out of the anti-EGS brigade. And it only took one game lmao
Kind of like how the Star Citizen whales make a ton of noise about the game when new trailers debut, amirite?
Yes, I am comparing EGS defenders to die-hard Star Citizen backers. Almost verbatim the same cadence of ad hominem attacks because the store itself, much like Star Citizen, is indefensible against legitimate criticisms.

glad to see the anti-epic store cult boycott went well. lol
That’s oddly specific… Is that the circle jerk ritual you guys do before climbing on the hate train ?
Which train is that? the irrational hatred for Steam train? The delighting in frustratingly empty friends-list in a game built for co-op train? Or the Fortnite money train buying exclusivity in lieu of having a competing platform train?
Please be specific.

WOW, and they did that without giving us exact numbers and not possibly overstepping on other developer’s private info. Who knew it was possible to do it this way?SabreT wrote on Sep 23, 2019, 11:26:jacobvandy wrote on Sep 23, 2019, 11:13:
They didn't sell more than Metro, or whatever has the most sales on EGS so far. If they did, they'd be touting that instead of presales.
Not sure 2k would have different developer's precise sale numbers, also the game has only been out for 10 days... Anything else you want to make up to spread your hate ?
How would they know they set the record for EGS pre-orders? Epic told them...

They really go out of their way to keep from giving an exact PC statement and try to tie it to overall record statements.
Convoluted, that's a good word.
Just imagine how much stronger the PC sales would be, if it wasn't an exclusive on the weakest store platform, in the world.

I want to know what the break down is of sale per platform. Guarantee you it wasn't on PC where those sales came from.

Wish all the uniformed parrots thinking that Fortnite is Epic's main source of revenue would just shut up. Do a bit of research yourself ffs.
I am aware that Epic have other revenue streams, but it is news to me that Fortnite is not the main one. Do you have any more information? I found this https://www.telegraph.co.uk/gaming/news/fortnite-earned-annual-revenue-game-history-2018/ but it is not current.

When Fortnite ends up like all the other competitive online shooters "AKA: Flavors of the moment" (Action quake, TF2, Overwatch, etc) they won't be able to do this anymore.
Works good for the devs, though. They get paid to subject Epic's user base to what amounts to an early access game and get to test patches so that the official release on Steam/GOG a year later comes pre-tested.
Can't wait for Metro Exodus this upcoming February.

I've seen no proof of actual threats other than those devs claims. Seeing the way they already behaved on their blog, reddit and discord, I have zero confidence in them not lying.

If Epic wanted to be honest about being pro developer in any form, they should just start to be first party publisher.
Now they cherrypick products from developers letting them carry the risk until their product shows potential profit, let them carry the burden of going exclusive and breaking their crowdfunding promises, all for a measly minimal guaranteed sales. They're exploiting indie game devs big time this way.
If Epic had to front the cost of financing devs like other publishers do, carrying most of the risks from the start, they could not even afford a tenth of their current exclusive output. They're parasites plain and simple.
