To this spoiled techno PC rig elitist, all or you who don't have similar rigs, you know like most of you out there whose PC most likely breaks a sweat at anything approaching 24 frames per second this is a real slap in the face. You don't matter. According to this guy you should not be playing PC games unless you can afford to maintain a state of the art gaming rig, every year.

Like many smarter than average people, Mr. Smarts commentary just goes "whoosh" past the smaller minds of your average internet commenter.

Just like the television media, your average person tends to get mesmerized by the spectacle and personality, while loosing sight of the facts that are brought to light.

In my opinion it is time to reign in this wackyness that is crowd funding with a bit of regulation. If not, every huckster out there from tv preachers to diet gurus will be milking this crowd funding bonanza for all it is worth very soon. It is time to require crowdfunding to follow the same kind of rules offering stock for sale comes with.

Chicken and Egg deal, not a bad game by the reviews, but mostly multyplayer with no players, so could be a good move to jumpstart some more players to give it a go this week.

Looks pretty, but I bought SC2 a few weeks ago in the big summer sale, and have yet to fire it up.

Still competition is always a good thing, good to see some new effort in the RTS field.

Reads like a scared VP desperate to shore up his standing with the boss. Whistling past the graveyard.

This is like watching a huge train wreck in super slo mo.

Stock up on popcorn.

Just give it time, people will be gaming the system, just look at any forum out there like reddit. You have people who live for dominating such things and they tend to form cliques of opportunity with like others. If such abuses can be prevented, this would be good for several MMOs I can think of.

News Comments > No Man's Sky Gameplay Video

If this were single player like Skyrim, I could see this working, but as an MMO, within 2 weeks, 95% of the reachable worlds would be discovered and named with sophomoric monikers, and unless you grind 24/7 you will rarely actually discover anything new. Anyone making a MMO today, is just repackaging WOW, unless they manage to come up with a new and different formula. Every MMO out there suffers from the same downsides, whales, elites, Beavis and Butthead social skills etc.

It also looks like GTA in space. Just wondering if the sentinels will be as easy as the GTA cops to lose by getting a new paint job.

Also I am finding the Fisher/Price day care color palette too much for me.

Near impenetrable user interfaces is part and parcel of any space sim above arcade quality.

Many of us have scoped out Mr. Roberts snake oil sales with less industry experience than Mr. Smart. The thing that is really slick about this particular brand is that it is being marketed to the 1% gamer segment with virtually unlimited discretionary funds. These folks, as Roberts has figured, can laugh off any losses should and most probably when SC goes tits up. They in fact revel in the knowledge that the amounts they spent are trivial and meaningless to them and represent ego boosts in knowing they can slough off them as a bad roll of the dice. I am willing to bet that most of the total raised came from high rollers and a small percentage for those to whom $50 is a meaningful transaction.

Mr. Roberts has established his retirement fund and most likely will face zero repercussions when this house of cards falls down.

I admire Derek Smart, for trying to build the games we all dream of, in a time when so many games are rushed out the door completely unfinished and often broken just to make a quick buck.
