I wonder just how many ship sales it took to pay for that cover slot at PCGamer?

The state needs to go after any game or outfit that sells what amounts to only the chances of getting something of equal or greater value than the price, like mystery packs in MMO's like Perfect World.

This stuff is clearly gambling, and as such should:

1 - Pay serious taxes as gambling should.
2 - Be fully regulated.

I hope they next go after all the gambling memes infecting many MMOs now, like mystery pack sales.

I remember using Terra, it was slow.

Amazing how a smart guy like Gates totally did not "get" the internet.

MS was still flogging CD-Rom based products then.

Funny how some whitenights have shown up who seem to completely oblivious to the firms the "collate telemetry date into specific individual profiles." So Win10 turns on your webcam, films you and or significant other getting it on, but does not identify you by name. Then MS sells it to a telemetry collator, and bingo.

With the way Win updates work, you have no idea what changes MS is making to your computer or for what purposes. Do you take candy from strangers or large multinational corporations?

Cloud is not progressing further until fiber is universal, which if ATT has any say, will be a very long time from now.

Clearly written by a PR person with no clue about coding and bugs.

These are getting repetitive.

"That out of this world game with a billion features is still coming along, but it's buggy as hell, and we are having to decide which features/bugs to fix and which to leave out, or carve into a separate module.

Thanks for all the money, please send more."

Duh, those games are all coded for Win graphics hooks. If more games were coded to run native on Linus things would be different.

As far as steam machines go, I don't think expanding the pool of gamers to include thousands of 8-15 year olds who have no idea what a command prompt is a good thing for PC games.

90% of the conflicts we have participated in over the last 10 years have been ones with 100% air superiority, i.e. little to no opposing air force or air defenses beyond RPGs.

Drones do what is needed now, plus better cruise missiles, bunker busters etc. and those huge C-130 gunships can do the heavy destruction at a safer distance.

A-10s belong in a museum, they were great planes.

The real reason is that viewership is way down, and with it advertisements contracts are also down.

Ah System Shock, one of my favorite game series.

These guys don't seem to excited about bring it's core zeitgeist back, sounds more like, lets consolize it and pile Bioshock schlock on top of it.

Notice how each press release is craftily written to almost imply that these machines play Steam AND non Steam PC games.

As a PCMasterRace person, you will have to pry my joystick, keyboard, and game mouse from my dead hands.

News Comments > Blizzard Sues Bot Maker
13. Re: Blizzard Sues Bot Maker Nov 12, 2015, 06:42 Bub

Yeech... This younger generation that thinks botting is a good thing.
Until you play something like the MMO Perfect World, that is infested with both proprietary bots and bots provided by the game, you have no idea how it ruins the entire game. Botting usually causes massive inflation, devaluing farmable resources to the point that to make any profit one must run multiple bots 24/7. For players who just want to quest and run raids and dungeons, it means they will have to buy gold just to cover maintenance costs and upgrades.

Blizzard however is chained to the Korporate edict that says as long as a customer pays cash, it is not worth it to ban them for anything.

Before retiring I wrote code for a living, and I can appreciate the "fun" of tweaking a bot to succeed in the game which is a bot itself.
But this does not make up for the fact that bots generally have an overall negative effect on Online games.

News Comments > J.J. Abrams Collaboration SPYJINX Announced
12. Re: J.J. Abrams Collaboration SPYJINX Announced Nov 12, 2015, 06:26 Bub

This game sounds like one from back in the 90s where it sent emails and text messages, and even phone calls, but it never really sold that well.

As to Abrams, I am a lifelong Trekky, and love what he has done with it. The ST-TOS and the ST-NG casts are all mostly gone or retired. I think Abrams is very good at getting to the core spirit of iconic stories and characters. His choices for ST repacements were spot on. I think Karl Urban is a perfect Bones, and Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto are very good Kirk and Spock. The way he worked in the older original Spock was very creative and worked for me. He is very good at character development, so I am looking forward to his Star Wars.

I was not watching TV when "Lost" was broadcast, so I missed it and wondered by Abrams was getting all of these Sci-Fi classics thrown his way. I finally got to binge watch the entire Lost series, and was just blown away by whole thing. I was truly amazed by the every episode.

I will be keeping my eye on this game.

TW Roku - introduced just like cable originally was, $10 bucks a month for basic, 20 for enhanced, etc. and data caps that streaming will bust pretty quick.

$120 bucks a year to get something you now get for free with you digital TV. Duh.

Once they hook you, rate hikes are the norm back to cable levels.

10. Re: Steam Hardware Launches Nov 11, 2015, 06:52 Bub

I am a PC MasteRace kind of guy. I despise game controllers. I will take a good joystick, mouse and keyboard every time.

As someone else pointed out, the steam machines are useless for all games that are not from Steam, like most of the top ten most popular games now.

I think is is kinda funny and awkward, most Steam games are PC games, but the Steam machine locks them down to game controller twitchiness and limited input options.

3. Re: Guild Wars 2 Raids Next Week Nov 11, 2015, 06:45 Bub

"..everything that sets Guild Wars 2 apart from other MMOs."

twitchy rock paper scissors combat
required long jumping puzzles in dungeons
Large group PVP (WVW) neglected
Some of the most dispised lore NPC's in gaming.

That said, it is pretty. I like how there is no kill stealing and you don't have to be grouped, only do enough damage to loot open world elites and up. I liked WvW, but it seems to be the devs least favorite thing to improve.

So convoluted, we sent the divisons tax money to buy spectrum.

Private enterprise is lobbying us to sell them cheep spectrum.

Divisons don't want to give up spectrum.

Hey it's only taxpayer money, lets send the divisions more, in return for giving back the unused spectrum.

Your government, buying things twice, once from an external source, and once from itself.
