Car deaths and gun deaths. One of these things is not like the other.

What would be similar is the times someone intentionally used their car as a weapon to kill someone. How often does that happen?

* Googles *

Looks like a couple hundred over the past decade worldwide. Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands have been killed by guns worldwide over the same period. Let's say that again:

Hundreds vs. hundreds of thousands.

Vehicles are safer now than ever before.

After total deaths peaked in 72 (~55k) they have trended down to where they are today. Take into account the population increase (+113 million) and increase in highway mileage driven and it's clear that there has been huge strides in automobile safety.
TLDR deaths per million during that time frame dropped from 260 to 110.

Firearm deaths on the other hand have levelled off or increasing.

Compared to 22 other high-income nations, the U.S. gun-related murder rate is 25 times higher. Although it has half the population of the other 22 nations combined, the U.S. had 82 percent of all gun deaths, 90 percent of all women killed with guns, 91 percent of children under 14 and 92 percent of young people between ages 15 and 24 killed with guns. In 2010, gun violence cost U.S. taxpayers approximately $516 million in direct hospital costs.

Alright, here's what we'll do. We'll ban videogames for a year.

Then, when we've seen that doesn't work, we're gonna ban guns for a year.

At the end, we'll pick the real culprit. Deal?

Fuck you NRA.
Logic and common sense will not be tolerated.
It just has to be due to the gamez.

Having this same conversation in OoTB with proud Canadien Tipsy McStagger and one of his thoughts was lack of guns ie gun control.

But we all know it's really because Canada does not have any masculinity, amirite asmodai? Rolleyes

Riddle me this; Why are there no school shootings in Canada?

There are but they are much much fewer.

Shootings in Canada

I think it's a few things that contribute to it, I've never really researched into it because I have better things to do but here's my SWAG opinion (Scientific Wild Ass Guess)

#1) Gun Control, I own a few rifles and shotguns. I had to do a course and get my PAL (Possession and Acquisition License) from our RCMP. Next, our guns are unrestricted and restricted. All hand guns are restricted and while it's easy for a criminal to get one, the average household has absolutely no use for a handgun because you'd have to drive between your house and a driving range only with it under lock and key. Since most school shootings are disgruntled teenagers, most parents who have disgruntled teenagers don't have weapons. Rifles are limited to 5 shots. Most of my rifles are world war 1 era with single shot and scopes. If you can't hit a deer/antelope/bear with 5 shots for a kill you are a terrible hunter.
Rifles are limited to 5 shots by a pin welded into the magazine of the weapons. I can own an AR15 with 5 shot clips and take out my PIN. Criminals can easily do this but again, comes down to licensing and acquisition and such. They have to steal the weapons to do this most of the time.
#2)Our population is much lower, so way less chance of it happening from crazies.. but even if you look at that the Percentage numbers don't jive.
#3) Mentality. There's a very big difference between canadians and americans. I find it weird the disconnect.. I have no real proof/articles/etc. But there seems to be a really weird mentality about disrespect and other things that escalate in the USA versus Canada. Shit heads live everywhere but I'm always shocked, especially after working in the shittiest bars in my youth how different people are in the USA about simple things like spilling someones drink.
Thank you for your thoughts on the subject.
You could add another "much" to the 'much much' fewer shootings in Canada statement and it still would not begin to describe how few shootings occur in your country.
How lucky you are not to have our 2nd Amendment.

Santa Fe school shooting is 2nd this week, 3rd this month and 16th this year Washington Post

USA, currently on week 19 of the year with 22 mass shootings this year.

MURICA!!! GUNS FOR EVERYONE! THE RIGHT TO HAVE ACCESS TO GUNS TO KILL CHILDREN!

Sometimes I wonder the craziness of following a thing that was written ~230 years ago?

I wonder what gun will be used on this one... bump stock? Semi-auto with 30 round clips? Hand gun with 18 round magazine?

Has your Prezident or congressperson sent prayers and wishes yet.

When something was priced $X and went on sale for $Y no one should ever pay $x again. ever
Unless of course they want it now or don't want to wait till the next sale.

I'm pretty sure that much is understood even by your average gamer.

"why is this games acronym so many"
Short answer, why not.

Long answer;
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. stands for "Scavengers, Trespassers, Adventurers, Loners, Killers, Explorers, Robbers".
But
If you take every letter and convert it to its numerical value in the alphabet, then sum the results it totals 86. The Chernobyl nuclear power plant catastrophe occurred in 1986.

That bloke sounds more like a boffin but both were wankers.

Bloke - A guy in American. A "good bloke" would be like a "nice guy".

Boffin - This is the word for a nerd. Usually male, a boffin would be highly intelligent, have no dress sense and probably grow up to be a an HTML programmer!

Wanker - Someone with a faintly sociopathic lack of regard for other people.
