The biggest worry of that nature I am aware of is the very small chance we might see a gamma ray burst from WR_104.

WR 104
Thanks for that, it answered all my questions about GRB's
The rotational axis of the Wolf-Rayet star would have to be pointed in the direction of our planet. The star's axis is estimated to be close to the axis of the binary orbit of WR 104. Observations of the spiral plume are consistent with an orbital pole angle of anywhere from 0 to 16 degrees relative to the Earth, but a spectrographic observation suggest a significantly larger and therefore less dangerous angle of 30 - 40 (possibly as much as 45).[23] Estimates of the "opening angle" jet's arc currently range from 2 to 20 degrees. (Note: The "opening angle" is the total angular span of the jet, not the angular span from the axis to one side. Earth would therefore only be in the intersecting path if the actual angle of the star's axis relative to Earth is less than half the opening angle.)
The jet would have to reach far enough in order to damage life on Earth. The more narrow the jet appears, the farther it will reach, but the less likely it is to hit Earth.

Basically if the Earth won lost the Cosmic Mega Millions Destruction Lotto.
Did you know that if the North Star burned out tonight, no one on Earth would find out about it for over 679 years.

More like he didn't want to end up in jail.
The 1% rarely go to jail, and if they do it has a spa, olympic size swimming pool, 9-hole golf course and is catered with (h&b). On that note, where do I sign up.

Our sun will also run out of fuel one day too. That will be spectacular (but not as spectacular as some of the more massive stars)
Luckily there is nothing close to us that can go supernova.

Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything (42)
snippet
"While 42 was a number with no hidden meaning, Adams explained in more detail in an interview with Iain Johnstone of BBC Radio 4 (recorded in 1998 though never broadcast) to celebrate the first radio broadcast's 20th anniversary. Having decided it should be a number, he tried to think what an "ordinary number" should be. He ruled out non-integers, then he remembered having worked as a "prop-borrower" for John Cleese on his Video Arts training videos. Cleese needed a funny number for the punchline to a sketch involving a bank teller (himself) and a customer (Tim Brooke-Taylor). Adams believed that the number that Cleese came up with was 42 and he decided to use it."
