It's stupid because such a remake mod is free advertising for Lucas Films, and the original games, and does not detract from the value of Lucas Films IP in the slightest--I'd love for those lawyers to tell me how such a remake, which the authors were doing out of love for the games and *not* for monetary gain, apparently, threatens the value of the Star Wars IP.

You have to be pretty dense to not understand that

1) This wasn't a mod. They were remaking the ENTIRE game. Stop with "that's okay." You know that's a load of crap.

2) How does it threaten the Star Wars IP... Lets see... The game ends up being glitchy, it looks badly on them. The game is literally a FREE version of their game, so now they're never going to sell another copy of it, or an enhanced edition if they decide to do that. Hell, it makes a sequel even questionable if theres a modern engine version of the real game. Lets also see... they start letting people use their IP for free... now nobody needs to license the property.

Anyway, had these folks the money they could likely take Lucas Arts to court and win on the simple basis of fair use

Yes, reusing the entire script of a game, sounds, basis of graphics and the IP are "Fair Use". Come on man...

That's such a load of rubbish from Redmond.
When I work on a persons computer and hand it back to them the last thing they want is a system that's gonna be sluggish and/or down for an hour installing updates as soon as they go online.
What am I supposed to tell them, "Sorry, but I can't install updates for you so expect your system to do it sometime in the future when you need it most.
idiot microsoft.

If you're not sure about whether or not a mushroom is poisonous, you should wear gloves when handling it. For example, the mushroom the little girl is holding looks a lot like Amanita phalloides, also known as the "Death Cap" mushroom. About an ounce of that will kill a full grown human being.

Not trying to be alarmist, but you have to be really, really careful with fungi as even inhaling the spores from some varieties can make a person extremely ill.
and i'm sorry both those look nothing like death caps. don't wanna alarm blue over a false ID. death cap
The little girl will be fine, she was wearing a helmet.

So many videos, so little time.

They are thinking that people will forget they're supposed to be making a game if they shovel out enough media.

Charging Amazon or UPS/Fedex more would help, but as always, the real problem for the USPS financially is their utterly insane retirement fund requirements. Unlike any other entity on the planet, they are required by federal law to have, in liquid savings, the FULL POTENTIAL BENEFITS for their entire plan.

No other organization on the planet has that requirement, as far as I know. Sure, the USPS can charge more, but get Congress to stop trying to put them out of business with that retirement pre-funding bullshit first.

Read here.

Surprisingly, most people don't know about that, and assume the USPS is utterly financially incompetent or something.

Yep, most people just take it for granted that the stabbing victim (the USPS) somehow stuck that knife in their own back, rather than the obvious conclusion that someone else was trying to kill them. But it has been reported quite extensively, if you're paying attention to anything other than Fox News, Glen Beck, or Breitbart. At this point, those who still think the problems of the post office were of their own making, probably aren't capable of rational thought.

No. I guess it depends on who you see as the little guy. With 14 year copyrights, Spotify would be able to play music from 2004 without paying the guy who made it.

Even when we're talking Disney, I still don't see any benefit to allowing anyone to use Mickey Mouse. We'd have Mickey Mouse porn, Mickey Mouse knock-off shirts everywhere. It would utterly devalue what people enjoy about Mickey Mouse. But since people can't use Mickey Mouse, they need to be creative around it, or create new characters altogether. There's no small amount of products, especially in games, that we love that solely exist because a licensing deal fell through at the last minute. Mario was supposed to be Popeye. At the time Popeye was 50 years old. Had his copyright not existed, Donkey Kong would have been Popeye saving Olive Oil from Bluto. Because of copyrighting, we have Mario, a character that soon became as recognizable as Mickey Mouse.

Hell, if we had weaker copyrights, my guess is 1980s arcades would have been about 50% Mickey Mouse games, because it's much easier to get someone to play that than something unknown.

Well, with 15 year copyright, artists could demand a lot more in royalties during that time period.

Also the bit about Mickey Mouse is not particularly relevant, because Disney company trademarked Mickey ages ago, having made him essentially the mascot/equivalent of Disney, and Trademarks never die if they're defended aggressively.

Current copyright extends until 70 years after the artist's death. And that's not just crazy, but it results in a huge body of orphaned work that can't be reproduced, or even *shown publicly* without the permission of the copyright holder who may not even exist. It's a goddamn mess and it's designed not to protect artists but to protect corporations.
Corporations are people now so don't expect to change anytime soon.

BULLSHIT, 20 years ago, this would've been considered a mod and the developers would've likely extended their help to the modding team... Thus profiting in the process. Nowadays they just shoot themselves in the foot.

I can't speak for 20 years ago, but 19 years ago you'd be wrong.

Or how to cherry pick at the beginning of the end^^

The amount of people not getting their children vaccinated is mental.

Everyone in north america has it too good these days, they forgot what horrible things used to kill children which are completely curable now.

These people think vaccines are bad for them but how do you live with yourself if you kid dies of a curable disease because you thought he would get autism (Which is stupid).
tRump is not the only result of people getting "news" via fakebook and twitter. The next outbreak of measles, rubella, diptheria and polio can't get here soon enough.
