Description There's a fool-proof way to tell if something a conservative/right-wing/Republican said is true or not. If they call it "fake news", you can be sure it's the solid truth.

This looks like it has the potential to be a fun romp, but more than likely will end up being terrible. Still, will probably be better than Life.
Beyond White Space.
You just had to say Life. shudder

So now we're going after Space Whale Oil. Made me think of Bill Bryson on what the first Alien message might say;
"It means, for a start, that even if these beings know we are here and are somehow able to see us in their telescopes, they’re watching light that left Earth two hundred years ago. So they’re not seeing you and me. They’re watching the French Revolution and Thomas Jefferson and people in silk stockings and powdered wigs—people who don’t know what an atom is, or a gene, and who make their electricity by rubbing a rod of amber with a piece of fur and think that’s quite a trick. Any message we receive from these observers is likely to begin “Dear Sire,” and congratulate us on the handsomeness of our horses and our mastery of whale oil."

Can you imagine your Steam backlog going from 23 games to over 15,000.
Of course 14,117 of those you'd never want to play even on a rainy day.

I thought the Wii Netflix 'app' was largely just locked down Opera. Not sure why they would drop it. Then again the only major users of that I know are people wanting Netflix on a SDTV, and that can't be much of a market anymore.

It's not Netflix, it's Nintendo.

“Unfortunately, Nintendo will suspend all video streaming services on Wii – including the Netflix Channel – after January 30, 2019.”
In other words, they did it "Forever".

"An actual multimillion dollar study into piracy by the EU that was supressed when the results didnt tell them what they wanted to hear said that there is no noticable loss of profit from piracy, but that it is more likely to increases profits since piracy increases sales.

Hyperbole aside. The study cost $428,000, not multi millions.

https://gizmodo.com/the-eu-suppressed-a-300-page-study-that-found-piracy-do-1818629537

Here is the study in pdf.

I would not put all my eggs in one study. I don't even know how you could even begin to quantify the data. Because every movie or tv show or song that is illegally torrented is a lost sale ( i can also use hyperbole).
You can't tell me that someone who torrents the movie Papillon is also going to pay $2.99 to stream it. Same goes for the creep who steals a $60 dollar game, to think that they will turn around and plop down 60 bones on it is pure nuts. imho

Microsoft’s October Update Failure is Holding the Whole PC Industry Back
Fiddlesticks
This was in my mailbox (a word for word copy of the email):
Good news — the next version of Windows 10 (codename 19H1) is now available for you to preview.
You’ll be amazed at just how many Windows 10 Insider Preview feature highlights our engineers have already packed into this early 19H1 Insider Preview build, including a more powerful Windows Search, an even faster, safer Microsoft Edge browser, a beautiful new design update, and more.
Microsoft has so much winning just around the corner. Can't you feel it?

I'm so stoked and giddy that I puked bile.

Do those work pretty well? I read that they lose their heating ability pretty quickly and can be a pain in the ass with people melting them while trying to boil/recharge.
Do they work? yes
Do they work well? Depends
You would not throw one in your backpack or glovebox and expect it to work when you need it months later, but in theory in could..
There's a reason REI no longer sells them and only one seller on Amazon has them... (peeps who melt them would also scald orange juice, there's so few humans but so much stupidity)

tldr: cool party trick

I'm a Edenic Burrito? Sweet! Thanks for the upgrade!

But, yeah, breathless wanking over IoT devices aside, they're a giant fucking security nightmare and should be avoided at all costs until either a standard is put in place to force manufacturers to adhere to at least a minimally safe securing of the devices or your average user gets much, much smarter about their home network's security.
holy wankers, how in the hell did i get paradise out of peace. has anyone seen my readers.
