News Comments > Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number Released

6. Re: Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number Released Mar 11, 2015, 08:42 beremot

For those of you that have played it, is there anything in particular that sets this one apart from the first one? Found the first one ridiculously addictive but got frustrated with a boss battle where I kept dying and had to repeat the level to get back to the boss battle only to die again ... i.e. I still haven't finished the original. Is it worth it to jump into the next one or should I just go back and finish the first game?

You mean because they were poaching, or because they were preventing it, HalfElf?

Apple got in trouble big time for conspiring with other companies not to hire each others employees. They did this so the employees couldn't bargain for higher wages ("If you don't give me a raise I'm going to look elsewhere for work," etc ).

I'd say poaching in that instance is more ethical than not.

I'd rather be wrong about a Kotaku article than give them any sort of traffic though.

I really wish Blue would stop linking to those clickbait idiots that belong to gawker. Nothing they say should ever be given any amount of credit or thought towards.

There are actually good articles on Gawker, especially IO9, but also Kotaku sometimes too. I like that Blue often picks some of the best ones to highlight here.

So you hate all men. That's what I hear you saying, jd. That makes you one of those self-hating eunuch types. Welcome to our little club!

You're kinda proving beremot's point about agendas here. You don't engage with any arguments, you just descend into hysteria.
Considering I asked a legitimate question, I'll take that as a no. I read both sides of the field and am pro-GG. I've yet to read anything where it hasn't devolved into a class black and white, males are evil, gamers are evil, they're sexist because of xyz reasons, or apply various labels like terrorists and so on.

The anti side lives, breathes and eats identity politics while using unverifiable yellow press style journalism to paint their opposition as such. I'm sure that it was a huge blow for their morale though, when Gawker of all sites came out under oath stating that GG is actually about proving the ethical lapses in the industry. Damn that narrative.

Oh let's toss this in because I just ran across it and chuckled, since it the narrative.
aGG narrative timeline:
  • September to October 2014: Gamergate is nothing, just 200 dudes being loud, they're insignificant!

  • December 2014 to january 2015: Gamergate is a child porn ring and ISIS terrorists, theyve literally killed people!

  • March 2015: Gamergate has ruined gaming!

  • You might be going derp wat?! On the last one, but you've probably missed the gaming press and their latest round of attacks. We're now so big and powerful we're ruining gaming.
I seriously can't figure out if you're being hyperbolic for effect or you actually believe this.

No, he claims others are hyperbolic then goes all hyperbolic.

It, sadly, is kind of common in these talks. It's really, really hard for people to not go hyperbolic. On this site. Both sides. I don't think I do, but people say I do. I don't know if you do but I don't think so. Beremot often does.

    Et Tu, Beam-ay?

Just more proof of the SJW-created conspiracy against GamerGate.

Either this feminazi blog launched a DDOS attack against itself to make the GG boys and other anti-feminists look bad, or

There was no attack and this feminazi blog made the whole thing up to make the GG boys and other anti-feminists look bad.

Please don't accept the possibility that there could be any other explanations, because there aren't any.

Can you find one that doesn't jump right into cis-white-male-gamers are sexist, racist, homophobes with internalized muhsoggyknees that are worse than ISIS, terrorists, and are the leaders of the KKK. No one beats the gamergate drum louder than AngryGamerDude. He's 100 percent on their side. ( Funny how the GG guys are always whining about other people having an "agenda"--what they really mean is, agendas are bad unless they're pro-GG agendas. ) If you read the interview AngryDude did with one of the guy's behind Hate, it is laughable how hard he tries to get the Hate guy to follow the approved GG script. His questions are designed to elicit the "right" response--and he doesn't get it. The Hate guy just refuses to give him the answers he clearly wants all the way through the interview. Actually made me respect the Hate guy, the way he refused to take the bait.

I think Blue is usually pretty even-handed with this stuff but if we're going to keep getting links to AngryGamerDude's stuff, how about links to a blogger who is equally anti-GG to even the playing field a little bit?

First Bush lets Bin Ladin go in Afghanistan so he can go invade another country which has NO LINKS to Islamic terrorism whatsoever. This leads directly to a civil war between the Sunni and the Shia, which leads directly to the formation of ISIS!

All he's been doing the last few months is making a headline like "Republicans blah blah blah" and you all froth to rabidly comment even if you have absolutely no idea what it's about (like that 10 page Net neutrality legislation you all signed on for and have no idea what's in it).

Baah Baah, have you any wool?

We live in an age of hyperpartisanship. And most of it has been caused by Lee Atwater, Roger Ailes & Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Frank Luntz, etc. etc. The Dems simply don't have anything close to the amount of infrastructure and money that the Repubs do

Cmon JD, the president bashing was never worse than during Bush, and dems just kept going and going pushing the hate and people apart because that's what they do:

    Everything is still Bush's fault
    Everyone is a racist
    Everyone is a bigot
    Everyone is an islamophobe
    War against women
    War against homosexuals
    War against war
    War against science
    You eat too unhealthy
    You use too much energy
    Take their guns
    Let illegals in
    Capitalism is evil
    Income inequality

I could go on and on and its ALL liberal ALL DAMN DAY every damn day and it's all complete and utter bullshit 99% of the time.

Liberals and Democrats own the root of hyperpartisanship, no escaping it and you know it. Everyone sees it -- and any who say they don't either are willfully blind, or pay no attention to that which they say they do.

With an argument as iron clad and well-reasoned as that, Axis, I don't see how anyone could fail to be convinced by you.

But you left out one thing.

What about the liberals War on Christmas?

I was okay with the creeping socialism.

I was okay with the death panels.

I was even okay with the whole destroying-the-foundation-of-marriage thing.

But when the liberals went after Christmas?

    That was just unforgivable.

I think the Republicans should call their new legislation the "Freedom is Slavery!" act. Or has that name already been taken?

But that couldn't be right, could it? I mean, if Hilary's email account is creating such a stir, then a private email network run by the White House itself would surely have created an enormous scandal, and there's no way such a scandal could have slipped from our collective memory ... right?

As if this wasn't on the long, long list of things people perpetually shat their pants over with Bush - rightly, by the by.

Next we'll hear about how /obviously/ there is nothing wrong with the Patriot act, because if there was, party X certainly wouldn't have been silent while party Y was complaining, right?

I don't quite follow you on the Patriot bit, but my point was the so-called "liberal media" go into a frenzy with anything involving either of the Clintons, i.e. Whitewater, Travelgate, and many many other phoney scandals concocted or vastly inflated by conservatives.

There is a double standard here. Yes, Bush's illegal email system drew some coverage, but nowhere NEAR the amount of coverage Hilary's email has already gotten and will continue to get as the Republicans issue their endless series of subpoenas, hearings, etc etc, all designed to convince your typical low information voter that where there is smoke, there is fire. So what if what she did was perfectly legal at the time she did it, so what if many other politicians have done similar things--W's brother, Jeb, for one--so that's TWO Bushes right off the bat ... all that matters is that it there is a D after her last name and that last name is Clinton. It will be "Email-Ghazi" from now until the end of time.

Not a fan of Clintons by the way--either of them. But a double standard is a double standard.

You know, as soon as I heard about this story, it reminded me of something. Something about a private email network, created in violation of the law. It wasn't run by a Secretary of State. It was run by the White House.

But that couldn't be right, could it? I mean, if Hilary's email account is creating such a stir, then a private email network run by the White House itself would surely have created an enormous scandal, and there's no way such a scandal could have slipped from our collective memory ... right?

If only I could remember more details about this illegal email network run by the White House ... Thinking ... Thinking ...
