I was pretty underwhelmed during the beta and was really close to cancelling my pre-order. However, my friend was really excited to play together so I kept it.

I'm actually pretty surprised at how much I'm enjoying the game, it's a pretty fun cover shooter rpg that turns into a diablo grind for epic loot at the end game.

If you have a friend to play with and enjoy loot hunting this is a really good game. Can't really say much about the solo experience except that the game is solo friendly.

PC only vote for a DA tactics game, but only if it's going to get the same care and budget on par with Xcom or Darkest Dungeon.

If it's just going to be a disposable mobile clone don't even bother.

Hopefully this unlocks at Thursday 9pm pst, they only do that for big releases. The Game Trailer review has a spoiler for an alien mechanic that kind of pissed me off, might want to avoid that one.

Played the beta for a couple hours and I'm not totally sold on it. The world felt empty and I was pretty bored with not much to do. Compared to a real MMO this game has a shockingly low number of quests. The environments are nothing more than pretty hallways you run down, there are only a handful of buildings that you can actually enter and explore.

The side missions feel like fluff you would encounter in games like Saint's Row. Only 10 main missions in the game is baffling. It looks pretty although no where near as good as the initial videos showcased.

I'm enjoying the Witness but so far it feels a little over hyped, it feels more like an 8/10. The main problem is there is no story or plot in the game. This makes it feel like your only goal is to run around and solve maze puzzles for 30 hours.

If it had an actual story or mystery to solve while you were solving maze puzzles it would feel more complete.

I have to say most of that was spent playing Hardcore characters, which is where the game is supposed to shine the brightest yet falls flat on its face in so many ways.

I cannot stress how much Diablo3 fucking sucks, it just takes a while to get to that point because you are impressed with the Blizzard polish and because you want to give it all the chances it can get.

If you haven't played since launch you might want to give it another try. They've made a lot of improvements to it since then, it's like a whole new experience.

just wondering, what exactly were you taking it at as before today?

and the pcness has a lot to make up for, the last big new IP WATCH_DOGS still has TERRIBLE mouse support, permanent mouse accel that people have still not yet figured out how to disable. they haven't patched it, it's hard-coded into the engine, it's literally the worst.

Was hoping it was a MMOFPS with a large open world, but it seems a lot smaller in scale. If someone would release a vanilla Wow sized game in scale and content with fun shooting mechanics I think it would surpass Wow in subs.

This seems like it'll be a lot like first year Destiny with a better story. I'm lowering my expectations and just taking it is as a co-op shooter / rpg.

It'll do well simply because there isn't a lot of competition for it on the PC atm. The only other one I can think of is Defiance and to a small extent Borderlands.

The previews for Xcom 2 look really good. Procedurally generated maps with really high soldier customization compared to the first one.

I'm tempted by Dark Arisen but I still haven't finished DA:I, Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Mad Max, MGS 5. I'm experiencing open world fatigue.

Actually bought more games than I thought I would,

Ass Creed: Black Flag $7.49
Invisible, Inc. $9.99
Renowned Explorers: International Society $11.99
Dying Light $20

Hidden gem would have to go to Invisible Inc. It's a must buy for people who like turn based rogue likes with an emphasis on stealth gameplay. I put it on the same level as FTL and Darkest Dungeon.

So, in terms of open world shennanigans, would the money be better spent on Metal Gear Solid V instead of Just Cause 3?

It depends on what you mean by open world shenanigans. If you mean you just want to fly around and tether things together and create lots of pretty explosions then get Just Cause 3.

If you want the better game with deep mechanics and unique emergent gameplay opportunities then get MGS 5. The shooting, stealthing, upgrade path, story, and mechanics are far better in MGS 5. However, the open world is just an excuse to tie bases and outposts together, most of the action takes place around these outposts and bases.

Another gross simplification for open world fun, MGS 5 = Taking over outposts in Farcry 3 on steroids. Just Cause 3 a more prettier version of Just Cause 2.

The melee combat in this game looks more simplistic than Skyrim, I didn't think that was possible. I don't understand why these first person open world rpg's don't just rip off the combat of Chivalry or Mount & Blade. This just looks like mash A to club someone to death, or chain insta 1 hit kills. Doesn't look fun at all.

dying light has WAY better first person melee than those games..

on that note, im hoping they make an open world PRG with that engine, the movement and combat is fucking perfect

The combat in dying light works because you are fighting mindless zombies who just swarm you. I'm talking about fighting intelligent human opponents who feint, block, parry, and have various melee styles and weapons. You need a more complex system than Dying Light for the game I'm talking about.

you clearly havent played it because there are intelligent humans that feint, block and parry and have various melee styles and weapons.

so, get a fucking clue first, then we'll talk

Doubtful, can you control the direction of your swing? Can you use your left or right hand independently for different attacks? Don't think so, I have over 50 hrs in Dead Island and I doubt the combat has evolved much beyond that.

It's the same kick them to knock them down and stomp on their head for an insta kill combat that grew tiresome in Dead Island.

Talk to me when you play a real game that takes actual skill not mashing the attack button like a spaz.

no use arguing with a brain dead dumbshit like yourself, go jerk off to your "skill level" LOL

Go troll some more in your mom's basement, it's all you're good for. I've talked to 6 year olds with higher IQ's and better reasoning skills than you, that's just sad.

So it seems like the standard edition of Overwatch is $40, you can upgrade to the Origins version for $60 which includes 5 skins and some extras.

https://us.battle.net/shop/en/product/overwatch

$40 is reasonable for a mp only shooter, although I'd probably still wait for a sale.

$60 for a mp only game with a couple modes is poor value. Not saying it wouldn't be worth it in the end, but people expect a campaign and other single player / co-op content for a full price boxed copy.

I still think Battleborn will end up being more fun because of the PvE elements and account leveling treadmill.

Are you serious? You don't think you'll like this because it's like Team Fortress 2 (which does have PvE stuff) but think Battleborn will be more fun?!?
What color is the sky where you're from?

Yeah, I know it's a stretch to think that the company responsible for the best mixture of rpg and fps (Borderlands) couldn't possibly make a fun online shooter that mixes fps and rpg.

Lol if you think TF2 has any real PvE experience, that cobbled together horde mode is awful. Mass Effect 2 mp had a way better horde mode and the movement and shooting of the ME series is AWFUL.
