They can either be the publisher who pays a studio up front for development or they can just develop themselves and get the same since they don't have a cash crunch.

So what is the total investment now to get both "games"?
Right now the starter package is $45.

This is something that plain should not happen if there were professionals at work behind the Steam curtains. This incidence reaffirms my notion that Valve is a bunch of amateurs held together by a fat blob in the center called Gabe.

...from what I've read some of the planet based instanced stuff only shows up if you're driving around in the SRV - you can't see any of it if you're flying over the surface in your ship. I've read that it is working as intended and not an issue with the beta.

Why the fuck is Valve allowing this? This could potentially be a criminal issue.

I played Neverwinter up to about level 17 or so on PC. Was okay...but the game locks so much stuff behind paywalls. It dangles level-up awards in front of you and teases you with them hoping you'll fork over cash to be able to open items in your inventory. It's awfully sneaky.
I've heard that at higher levels it's impossible to get anywhere without spending large amounts of cash due to the limitations placed on crafting.

That doesn't strike you as spin? Funny timing that they were bought just 30 days before planning an unrelated shutdown.

I'd love to know what sort of a hardware you'd need to get the kind of details shown in the trailer running at 1080p-60fps.
I doubt my GTX760 will cut it.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing; however, unless they've bumped them up recently, I recall the 'recommended' system requirements being pretty reasonable:
•CPU Core i5-2500T 2.3GHz or Phenom II X4 975
•GPU: GeForce GTX 480 or Radeon HD 6970
•RAM: 6GB
•OS: Windows 7,8,8.1 64bit
•HDD Space: 20GB

Now it's just shitty Neverwinter trying to steal every good long known DnD name they can in hopes to make a buck, trickery or whatever it takes.

A lot of high fidelity games are large in size, this isn't surprising . Its probably going to continue as long as HD-tech and graphic requirements also increase. Witcher 3, for instance, might require at least 40GB of HD space.

That will all change, as ISPs have to bring those areas up to par... which will take years and cost a fortune, which will be passed along to us. Not to mention that the QoS for the rest of us will suck as ISPs try to save money by overloading their server nodes as they spread their existing bandwidth around.
