If James Earl Jones signed over the rights to his voice in the full knowledge it would be become the butt of jokes in some warped AI version of Darth Vader in a shitty videogame, that's one thing. But I have a feeling he had actual films and TV in mind.

1. Fortnite is not a "shitty" video game.

2. JEJ had a sense of humor, i know its hard to believe. I think he would get a kick out of Darth Vader talking smack to video gamers.

3. He nor Dath Vader in this game not even remotely "the butt of jokes". He walks around and roasts the living shit out of players as they are playing.

Staying with my "never upgrade the driver unless you have to" policy.
Yeah, in the 35+ years I have owned PCs I have upgraded the video drivers maybe half a dozen times? That said, in the early days I was buying a new PC (with a new video card) every two years. More recently I tend to have the same PC for 5 years or more. I think I have done it twice for No Man's Sky now, which is probably my record for a single game.

I actually agree with you on something. Amazing.

As long as the image quality is good I'm totally OK with "Fake Frames". I have a 4080 and when games are properly programmed to use "Fake Frames" it looks and plays awesome. I just did the Dune beta weekend and that game looks and plays great with DLSS, Quality mode and 2x "Fake Frames". Even AMD is doing it properly with FSR 4. Its making me reconsider upgrading to a 5000 series so i can try 3x and 4x "Fake Frames"

People don't understand how much hardware it would take to do all this advanced ray tracing and "lumin"ation with brute force rendering. The Video card would be 5 or 6 thousand dollars and weigh 15 pounds with the cooling it would require.

looking at the benchmarks I fail to see the justification for paying 10k+ for an RTX pro 6000 over a 4k 5090. (The 5090 is still way over priced it should be 2k)

I've read about this that it does not have forced pvp but special zones for this but also read that you better enter those zones because the good loot is only there. I will definitely wait for a few weeks after the release. If this is really a "sort of" forced pvp game (because one day you will have to enter the "Gid gud" areas or stop progressing), then this will be a hard pass.

This is very similar to the way they handled Anarchy Online PVP. The greatest MMORPG of all time IMO. I still have an active paid account.

Seems a little overly harsh, just saying, but that's just my opinion.
Of course, that's no implication you're not completely entitled to voicing your own view being the rascally Rogue that you are.

This is the same ol song from the 7950x3d. Until they add 3D V-cache on both dies, you're at the mercy of Windows as to weather it detects it properly or not. That being said, AMD is not the only one to blame here. Intel has equally banked on strange asymmetrical core layouts (P and E cores) which are always at the mercy of software understanding what to do with them.

Wrong. Say about Intel what you will and, yes, their CPUs are mostly complete fucking garbage (for other reasons than discussed here) these days BUT Intel have introduced a hardware scheduler (Thread Director) ages ago. The thread director partially decides on its own, and partially in conjunction with the Windows 11 software scheduler (close collaboration between INTC and MSFT on that end), which cores to use and it works almost flawlessly.

Yes, there is supposedly the occasional outlier and the rare hiccup but it is a far cry from the AMD shitshow where you have to make sure that GameBar is running and you have to keep your chipset drivers up to date at all times and then still monitor what is going on to be 100% sure that the cores are doing what they are supposed to do.

I have had a degenerating piece of shit 13900K for ~24 months and, while it was indeed a degenerating piece of shit, I never experienced a single issue with scheduling. Ever. That part just always worked perfectly thanks to Thread Director + the Win 11 scheduler (Win 10 might be a different story but if anyone still uses a vintage OS then that is their problem).

This is one thing that AMD should have copied ages ago. They should have long since introduced a hardware scheduler on their CPUs. Instead, they chose to make things even worse as, contrary to 7900X/7950X, even the non-X3D parts, i.e. 9900X/9950X, require the lame-ass GameBar to function correctly nowadays. Pathetic.

Riiiight. the best CPU performance by far is a "shitshow" because you have to install a driver. Because people who buy top of the line gaming CPUs don't know nothin about installing a drive right?

If you use the Xbox game app on your PC its automatically installed anyway. also they are releasing new motherboard drivers that remove the need for the xbox utility anyway.

REGARDLESS....

I have a 7950X3D and it took me all of a few minutes to download and install the xbox game bar 2 years ago and i have not had to think about it since then.

The idea that installing the xbox game bar or any other utility to improve CPU performance is an issue when nearly all of the PC gamers are already running Riva tuner, fraps, and updating GPU drivers every month already is RIDICULOUS.

They deliberately sold product with a defect.

Prove it.

There are literally thousands of law firms out there who would love a case like this to make big bucks. But first you need proof. Where is it?

How could it not be true? Are you suggesting that Nvidia didn't see this internally with all its testing and verification processes? They obviously did and chose to mislead and go to market anyway. Also there are not thousands of firms waiting to sue NVidia over a video card. There are no big bucks to be made over a few missing rops on a gpu.

people seem to have short term memory loss on how deceptive Nvidia has been for decades now.

Monolith is one of my favorite developers of all time.
They have like 10 amazing games. My First Monolith game was SHOGO Mobile Armor Division.

But how amazing are games like NOLF 1 and 2 and FEAR.

This is very sad.

Oh please AMD...Make the 9070 and 9070XT priced right and have useable features...

The 50 series is a joke by Nvidia to those that made them what they are today. They care not for us Gaming Plebs, only for the sweet AI cash they roll around in.

I think AMD is realizing they messed up. the 5000 series is barely faster than the 4000 series. AMD was clearly expecting Nvidia to have another large performance increase.

Fortunately, AMD only showcased a 9070 card. It seems like they can do a 9080 that is close to the 4090 and a 9090 card that is at least in the ballpark between the 4090 and 5090.

If they can do that and FSR 4 is as good as it looks like it is.... They can get a win this new generation. Especially if they price the cards hundreds lower and have avalability.

People buying a 5090 are going to regret it when the 6090 comes out. because its probably going to be the generational performance leap that the 3090 was.

This is the first time nvidia has released an 80 series card that is slower than the previous generations 90 series. The entire 50 series is underwhelming.

I switched to T-Mobile 3 years ago and its been awesome.

I have been using their Home Internet because of where i live. It was great when i got it 3 years ago and they keep making it better and better.

They never slow it down and i regularly pass 1 TB in a month.

I also just got approved to be in the beta test program for their new partnership with Starlink. i cant wait to test it going out in the boonies.

I have a 4080 and am pretty happy with it. ok really happy.

I really wanted AMD to release a reasonable option because ive always liked them. The new fake frames DLSS 4 actually looks like it has pretty decent image quality.
I usually use DLSS with Quality settings at 4k on my 4080. and i *always* use MAX settings with maxed out Ray Tracing if available.

I bet i spent 6 or 7 hours in Cyberpunk IQ and Speed testing with my 4080.

I will probably get a 5090 this time in a few months.
