This game (Alpha) is a ton of fun. I would highly recommend to anyone to check it out. Believe they have a free demo available.
Here is my 5 years old son driving
Note at around 2:20 one of the Ai cars stuck on top of the fence

You son is clearly a champion. That looks like a ton of fun, think I'll look into it. If you can build your own cars and or arenas, then I think I'll buy it.

Now there might be games in the future that I'm willing to buy early, but the company making them has to have a good history, AND it's got to have some reasonable amount of gameplay visible at least in movie form.

Since I don't care what the box for a game looks like (hell, I havn't bot a game that way in several years.

It might well end up being a good game, but I would never buy it "sight unseen" and I wouldn't expect anyone else to do so either.

News Comments > SimCity Offline Mode Coming
40. Re: SimCity Offline Mode Coming Jan 13, 2014, 16:05 verybad1
The problem with EA is that they design games according to some of their executives latest "brilliant idea" on how to make more money off of their games... not to make games that are genuinely enjoyable, and naturally succeed because of that.

SimCity was a genuinely enjoyable game, but EA designed it with the intention of making a bunch of money off of DLCs. So they effed it up.

They could have made SimCity 4 over again with better graphics and performance and it would have been a better game than SimCity 5 is.

I don't think that it is the actual people working on the game that screw so many of EA's game up, but the managers that are more concerned with them getting out by a certain time, and with their latest money making idea designed into it.

I don't buy consoles, but I would prefer that both major players do about equally well. Lack of competition isn't good for anyone, including PC users.

Looks interesting.

As for people complaining that it's not an action game...There are enough action games out there to keep people busy for their entire waking lives, and the Alien from the movies is cheapened by having multitudes of them.

You can do action with anything, the true Alien horror is a rarer emotion, and if this game is done right, then it will be a lot more memorable than an alien vrs predator type game.

I like action games a lot myself, but action doesn't need Alien, Alien needs horror to be as good as it's been in the movies however.

I thought that the standard SimCity was the limited edition. And by limited I mean smaller towns, worse gameplay, and AI so limited that it still won't buy Skyrim even at 75% off.
They all are. I was pretty disappointed with this latest one. It's a nice looking engine, but the cities you can build are tiny, they don't look anywhere near realistic (eg towns with 10,000 people having multiple skyscrapers.

They sort of dropped the sim part. It mostly functions ok now on my machine, but I've got no desire to play it.

EA could ruin a date with a porn star.

Trine 2 for $2 is really good. Thought it was an error until I realized it's been more than 3 hours since it's been up like that.
I can total confirm that. I've already got my money worth and then some. Beautiful artwork, it's a fun game and has different ways to do stuff. I don't normally play this sort of thing but I'm glad I bought this.

Can't beat that price. Best item no the sale all year.

The legs on Skyrim has been literally inconceivable (that word...). I would love to see the monthly sales numbers for that game since launch. I am so curious how many millions of copies they have sold.
I just hope it makes them realize that there is a serious market for that kind of game done well. I don't want an MMORPG. I want an RPG.

China is such a stupid country

Care to draw some examples?

China and the U.S. are equally stupid when it comes to their governments. The people however of these countries have little say in what their government does.

Nonsense. While the US is hardly perfect, there are a lot of freedoms here that we take for granted that aren't possible there.

They've got their Internet locked down, and even if you want to send a PERSONAL letter to someone in China you have to have customs papers with it.

China is far more corrupt than the US (not saying we're not corrupt by any means btw)

They're a one party government, and the government is far more intrusive on the everyday lives of people there than they are in the US.

The US has more than it's fair share of issues, but yeah, China is a bit sensitive. I think we're used to being criticized because we've been on the top of the hill since WWII, but China does look idiotic when they whine about a video game "smearing it's image"

A modern version graphics of the original WITH mod support would be the best possible option.

Just redoing the original in modern graphics would be nice, but support for online play including a universe you can conquer ( random starpmap with jumplanes) would be a ton of fun.

I'd probably buy an update of the original, it was that good, but there's so much that could be added to it, if they're not willing to do so ok, but PLEASE add better mod support than Relic did.

Lawsuit from Microsoft in 3...2...1...
Nah, doesn't look at all like the Battletech/MechWarrior Atlas. Atlas was a name of one of the Greek Titans as well so the connection is pretty close. Microsoft can't claim the name Atlas because they didn't invent it and it's got an enormous history.

That being said, I'd like to see actual gameplay for this game. MWO is incredibly dull, and doesn't seem like they'll ever add the depth they promised ~3 years ago.

Considering it's coming out for Xbox and PC, I don't see Microsoft going after it, it'll probably make more money for MS than MechWarrior Online is doing. (ie sell Xbox Ones)

News Comments > The Elder Scrolls Online in April
26. Re: The Elder Scrolls Online in April Dec 11, 2013, 13:49 verybad1
No mods in an MMO, so I'm less than enthused, I hope it doesn't mean that they're stop making single player elder scrolls games, but it is likely.

They probably got excited by the success Skyrim got, and decided to try and make a successor to WOW which really is looking pretty long in the tooth and losing players,

Some of it looks pretty good, but I don't have the time for MMOs, I would rather have a good SP game that I can play when I do have time.

MMOs are fine and dandy, but playing them without groups loses quite a bit of the point.
The lack of Mods, for which Skyrim is legendary also reduces it for me.

Actually no you can have a stable orbit around a black hole quite easily. There's no difference between their gravity and that of a regular star,

Were our sun to become a black hole (at it's current mass it won't, but using it as a discussion point), the earth and other planets around it would continue to orbit for billions of years just as they are now.

Active black holes (i.e. ones emitting a lot of gamma rays) have an accretion disk where matter gets close enough be heated up and releases gamma rays and other light (heat etc.). The loss of energy allows that matter to fall closer to the black hole however that matter would NOT fall closer to the black hole unless it is in the accretion disk and the friction allows it to.

If you were to get close enough to the black hole that you're in the accretion disk, then you're dead in any case.

Additionally, a lot of matter is not absorbed by the black hole, but is instead speeded up and spit out at close to light speeds (ridiculous radiation).

Orbit physics around a black hole is absolutely the same as around a star unless you enter the accretion disk. (which us similar to about the same as entering a star in terms of heat.

7. Re: Star Citizen Hits $35 Million Dec 8, 2013, 15:37 verybad1
It's not a physics impossibility at all. A black hole has to be @10 times the mass of our sun in order to form. So long as the planet(s) are orbiting at a distance far enough from the black hole that they wouldn't be torn apart by a regular sun that size, then they could survive orbiting the black hole.
