heheh if I was playing in 1080p or 1440p and needed 8000 fps then maybe I would upgrade the CPU. For 4k@120 - cpu and ram doesn't matter whatsoever. Maaaaaby some 1% lows here and there? Still not worth it. The money is much better spent on the graphics card.

As a 4K@144Hz gamer, I thought the same when I first put the RTX 4090 into my good old i9-9900K rig but then I found more and more info online that the CPU matters more than I thought, even at 4K ultra. So I upgraded to an i9-13900K very early last year (Jan 2023) and it was true. The shackles came off the RTX 4090 and it learned to fly .
I would definitely recommend to do yourself (and your 4090) a favor and get that sweet 5800X3D at the next opportunity (promo or sale). It is worth it.
