However I don't think it will be uncomfortable enough for most Americans to effect a big change. I think Trump knows this and is great at manipulating the masses to keep a perception of balance. He'll make it seem comfortable enough all while he gives us, "the business". Now if he had 8 continuous years in office then I think things would be different.HoSpanky wrote on Nov 20, 2024, 12:51:
You can say that this isn't Trump's choice, but every single person he's marked for a position has been completely inadequate for the position, and is only getting it because they're loyal to him and do exactly what he says. So this is, in every way, Trump's decision.
In a nihilistically bemused way, I am looking forward to seeing just how fucked up everything becomes under Trump. One, because the people who said "The leopard would never eat my face" are going to find out that the leopard has no fucks to give about whose face it is chewing on. Two, because you can't change something unless you break something. If things become broken enough, people are going to push for protective changes in the future. Sometimes something so terrible has to happen that a sizeable part of the population has to rise up, say "Never again", and enforce that thing never having the opportunity to happen again.
There is a whole lot of pain and misery forthcoming on multiple fronts. That's a given. But maybe that's what we here in the US need to pull our heads out of our asses and stop being a nation of largely stupid, lazy, and ignorant jackasses who blindly follow a convicted rapist felon grifter.

Hmmm...this got me to thinking. Why not package these up as VMs or containers? Everything isolated and self-contained with no requirements on any particular OS.

What scary movies will everyone be watching?

Would you argue for the unilateral dissolving of the sovereign tribes?

regardless of what you call the indigenous in America, they should only be treated exactly the same as non-indigenous, just as every other citizen historical context be damned ...

Fuddruckers always stuck me as someone asking their 8 year old to make up a swear word that isn't actually a swear word to use for the name of the restaurant. I thought their burgers were better than average but not worth the much higher than average prices they changed.

I had time to review games and demos under 144 Hz. The only way I can describe it is like when we first saw The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in 48 FPS in theaters (the first major film to shoot at that framerate)—everything looks so lifelike in its motion, with zero "gaps."

There are millions of people who have messed up immune systems for various reasons, who are living as shut-ins because a covid infection is very likely to kill them at worst and hosptialize them at best.

It's why I got so annoyed way back when everyone was falling over themselves praising the first Avatar as a great movie. It was unequivocally not a great movie. It wasn't even a good movie; it was pretty bad. It was a stunning technical cinematic achievement at the time but as a movie it was awful. And people got distracted by that so much that I kept getting told what a great movie it was.

For those unaware, it was revealed that last year Remington signed a product placement deal "as part of a marketing plan to reach young customers" in Modern Warfare 2:

This new lawsuit seems to be building upon that story from last year.

"Patient had COVID for record 613 days, accumulated over 50 mutations from virus before death."
This is why vaccines against influenza viruses don't work. it mutates too fast. no one ever had "just a small case of polo, thank god i had the vaccine or it coulda killed me" moments. 90% lies and falsehoods about COVID. and no, I'm not against vaccines, just for those that actually work. (MMR, Tetanus, polo, smallpox...etc)

Wow, the Pompeii find is impressive.
Poor donkeys. Slavery has always perplexed me. Generally there are way more slaves than masters in any given scenario. Why there weren't uprisings or murders of owners at every turn boggles my mind. Maybe there was and it was just never recorded so future slaves didn't get any ideas.
How do we stop the next round of games industry mass layoffs
Such a painfully naive question. Although to be fair the author was slightly more realistic in the tone of the article. Slightly.
The balkanization of the United States is going to happen sooner rather than later. There is no longer a national identity. There is "my side" and "the other, wrong side". Politics, media, and business have capitalized on that and pushed it for decades at this point. In my opinion, we are past the PNR. The only thing left is guessing when and being prepared for it as much as possible.
