I was a COBOL developer many years ago, and the level 88 variable was how a Boolean was defined. I never realised I was actually a closet Nazi.

This level of black/ white thinking really needs to go. Look at what's happening in Gaza. If you don't agree with Israel killing civilians, you're a Hamas supporter. If you decry the horrendous events carried out by Hamas in October, you're happy for Palestinian civilians to be killed. How about thinking both things are terrible?

Ethernet hasn't gone by the wayside at all--if anything, it's more a part of a basic system today than it was during the times when you had to buy the cards to plug into ISA slots--for peer-to-peer networking at home...;) All that's changed is that with chip manufacturing nodes going the direction of The Incredible Shrinking Man, the tech is simply integrated into the motherboard today. But the tech isn't going into an "old parts" drawer anytime soon.

Did you actually read it or just look at the pictures? He didn't say ethernet was old, it's the ethernet card that's old as most mobos come with the socket onboard now (like you said, he also says in the article). But the article is generally nonsense anyway. With multi-GPU only ending 5 years ago, remembering that wouldn't make you old. And I've got two 2.5GB ethernet cards boxed up behind me waiting for me to install as my mobo only has 1GB ethernet on it, and there's therefore a slight bottleneck with my 1GB internet connection (it's actually 1.1GB as my ISP allows a 10% increase over spec to allow for contention).

Introducing "Worm Tunnel," the show where four panelists will review short stories from aspiring writers!

And tomorrow, we're launching "Legal Eagle," a show where rookie lawyers will have their legal chops tested to the limit with litmus cases.

ALL THIS WEEK ON E-R! ENTREPRENEURIAL REALITY GONE REAL!

Their already is an Legal Eagle. Legal Eagle Youtube channel
That's not an entrepreneurial reality show where rookie lawyers will have their legal chops tested to the limit with litmus cases.

P.S. my comment was a joke making fun of reality Shark Tank knock-off shows.

Which is itself a copy of the original Japanese show, Dragon's Den. Shark Tank US is one of the latter copies.

Indiana Jones playing? Was my colonoscopy different to everyone else’s? They put me to sleep for about an hour while they preformed mine. They kept it pretty professional.

Or do they mean they play it before putting the patient to sleep? Still unprofessional!

Maybe normal in the US, but in the UK you don't even get painkillers. It's an interestingly uncomfortable experience.

Not much of a policy change. Instead of linking it to inflation, it's going up by £1.50. It's still a mid-contract price rise which itself is problematic. By all means increase it at the end of the contract term, but doing it in April regardless of when you take out the contract should be illegal.

Tell me you have a red baseball cap without telling me you have a red baseball cap. I'd not heard of 88 as having any particular meaning either but that doesn't mean I go blaming a political party in America. Woke asshattery by all means, but that's not the sole domain of the Democratic party (you should see what a real left wing party looks like rather than the not quite as mad as the Republicans that you've got).

Or on a positive side maybe the recycled/donated PC business will boom
The article/ study already addressed that. You could argue that someone buying a 10 year old PC doesn't care about the OS, but there was nothing really stopping you running the latest version of Windows on them before. Linux is ok, but even as a user of Linux and a PC user for 40 years, I still would pick Windows for ease of use for most people (me included). Businesses won't want them as that's where most recycled PCs came from in the first place, and the last thing we need is 240mil home user PCs on the internet with no security updates.

Played a little bit, seems to be a fully functional little survival game with lego, kinda fun. reminds me of minecraft , or maybe even more valheim, but the fact that everything is LEGO is really cool. Yes, I'm 43. And maybe it should not appeal to me, but maybe it exactly should.

I'm older than that and I'll be giving it a whirl. I wheel this quote out every now and again, time to dust it off: "We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing."

And clearly both Python fans

Guess you didn't read the article before deciding your opinion was so important? First sentence "racking up more than 435,000 players and 2.7 million game sessions in its first two weeks of release.". The number of people playing a single player game at the same time isn't an important metric.

4070 or higher just to get 60 FPS at 1440 without any ray tracing seems a bit cray cray.

You mean that fake frames and upscaling could make some developers lazy like "don't waste money on optimization, let the drivers do their magic and save us money"?

Is this a DLSS 3 game then? Looks like it's DLSS 3.5 so the ray tracing reconstruction is there, but I can't see anything about standard DLSS 3.0 frame generation. Interesting that the 3080 is missing from the list, which "should" have pretty much the same performance as the 4070.

Not a single Iranian missile and drone factory is getting bombed, so Hamas is not losing any capacities either way.

There is little doubt that Iran helped finance, consult on, and supply this offensive. Israel is often bombing Iranian arms shipments to Hamas and Hezbollah for this reason, although obviously not enough. Gaza was granted self government after the occupation, voted in Hamas, and this is the end result of that decision. Reoccupation isn't out of the question, nor are attacks inside Iran. The IAF has a limited ability to strike Iran, and the Mossad operates there as well. I would prefer the ME not turn into a shitstorm while we're in the middle of a war in Europe, but I don't see the Israeli hardliners in control pulling their punches.

Israel has been blockading Gaza since they voted in Hamas. They're not the poor, undeserving victims here. They've been the aggressor for far too long, but anyone attempting to call them out on it or even open dialogue is deemed antisemitic.

I'm not sure how selling their game streaming rights to Ubisoft is an expansion into other cloud streaming services? They'd already said they'd make the games available on other streaming services.
