But the evidence in the article doesn't actually say what the author says. For 30 series cards it still recommends the latest, and only roll back to the 566 series if you're having issues. But I suppose that won't get the clicks. But it is why I kicked Tom's Hardware off my newsfeed.

Sign up for D+ for a trial, and you're now obligated to forced arbitration for all Disney products for life. Tough to find a better example of late-stage capitilism.

Maybe in your country but definitely not in mine. Luckily we have some decent robust laws. We were the first to get steam refunds and also the first to have EULA laughed at. We can resell software contracts too. There are no ads on our Disney+ "ad free tier". This shit simply wont fly here.

I don't think it's Disney itself that's showing the ads, it's the other subs under the Disney channel. If they did, I'd just cancel and go back to other methods.

The last BF I really played was Battlefield 4. After that I just played all the beta's and those didn't hook me so I never played the full game.

I think I need to try the Black Hawk Down multiplayer, because that looks more Battlefield than Battlefield at the moment.

BF1 was very good. BFV got a bit too bogged down in trying to be different and introducing gender politics. They should have just made a decent WW2 FPS with well known battles. I hear 2042 is better now, but I don't like the whole hero shooter thing in a larger multiplayer game.

Yeah, coz it really is that easy. Isn't that the same argument that Chump has made about his impending tariffs? All they'll need to do is move their entire operations somewhere else. Or they could just make everything more expensive for America and focus on other markets.

If you see an article on XDA written by that guy, I'd say it makes sense to skip it as it's normally an uninformed opinion dressed up as fact.

What search monopoly? I haven't used Google for years.
As Beamer said, this means nothing. The vast majority of users only know about Google. This means people who rely on getting business via searches are beholding to Google. Frankly, I don't really care one way or the other. The number of people who lack any real understanding of computers despite the fact they are integral to just about every business activity, never fails to amaze me.

Beholden, not beholding.

Pretty insane to see what was the top of the line Intel CPU a few years ago is the minimum spec required. Hopefully the FSR frame gen mod will work on this to enable it for non RTX4000 users.

Without reading the article, it's because of multicore/multithreaded CPUs. There's no point in having multiple CPUs in a standard PCs any further.

I still have them in servers but that's mostly for compute power and memory bandwidth.
Or to put vmware esxi on them, which requires 2 physical CPUs.

Are you sure it's 2 physical CPUs and not just 2 cores? I've got it installed on an old HP Microserver powered by a dual core Turion.

Apparently some people have found performance gains by moving the hot caching of the streamed assets from the C drive to an alternative drive, if you have one.

Posted in a Steam review:

1. Open the game save directory: C:\Users\***\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, and move the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 folder to your desired location. I moved it directly to D:\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

2. Make sure the file copying is complete and delete the original Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 folder.

3. Run cmd as administrator and run the following code: mklink /j "-original address" "-new address"

Here is my example: "***" needs to be replaced with the specific name according to the actual username: "mklink /j "C:\Users\***\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024" "D:\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024"

You can move the location of the rolling cache from the settings in the game, no need to faff like that. It's in the online section. The game is still broken today though, saying not enough bandwidth available..

People were asking for that for BF:V too to try to get a more authentic feel. But it never happened coz it would devalue the skins.

It'll be interesting if Trump does go ahead with his proposed tariffs on imports. Then you'll see some rather hefty price increases, especially on tech.

It does amuse me when the Democrats are described as the left. Sure, they're left of the Republicans but they're by no means a left leaning party.

Yeah, I just skimread expecting to see something new and was sorely disappointed. Anyone who's even vaguely interested in online games would likely know all that they've just "discovered".

a proven fact that every other OS is good.

Proven, really? And what Windows releases count?

3.0, 3.1, 3.11, 95, 98, 98SE, ME, 2000, XP, XP64, Vista, 8, 8.1, 10, 11? I've not included NT as it was never really used on home PCs. I've run all those over the years and never had a problem. Though 8 was a misstep, it was fine with a proper start menu modded back in. People hated XP when it came out, but when Vista came out XP was the best OS ever. Vista's problems were more that it had moved to an increased security model so a lot of software didn't work as it assumed full machine level access would be available.

Seems I've had that installed since 16th August and not noticed any issues. I wonder what hardware it affects (this is a 10900K with 32GB of DDR4). I've run pretty much every consumer version of Windows over the years since 3.1, even as far as XP-64. Never had an issue apart from the mis-step what 8 was so installing a proper start menu. I really don't understand the "skip every other version" crap. I suspect it's just from people who have no idea how to look after a computer.

What a bunch of BS! I never turn DLSS on when playing in 2k as the visual difference is so minor as to be laughable and my native 2k still runs faster.

DLSS upscales from a lower resolution to try to increase performance and look as close to how the original would have looked at the new resolution. If native 2k runs faster in every case, there's something wrong with your PC.

The article says it affects even those models that can't be overclocked. Still rocking a 10900KF here and see no reason to upgrade it yet.

It always used to be a pistol, at least on Slack. It changed to a water pistol in the last couple of years IIRC. I was quite fond of using it pointing at the exploding head emoji when people started talking crap in meetings.

*edit* seems it was changed in 2016 to the water pistol. Wow, time flies.

For some reason nobody seems capable of linking to anything that actually confirms this, and most of the google hits are to the reports citing rumours, so here goes:

https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2024/07/23/modern-warfare-3-coming-to-game-pass-july-24/

Yes, it's supposedly one of the weaker ones, but it's free to Gamepass users so stop complaining
