News Comments > MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries Announced
12. Re: MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries Announced Dec 4, 2016, 14:23 Tipsy McStagger

Mechwarrior Online is just a team death match style game. But it does have excellent controls and a great feeling of piloting a giant mech. By far the best controls and feeling out of all the mechwarrior games.

Second,
Mechwarrior online started as a single player game which they showed trailers of a city battle with an atlas then they made it into F2P money grab.
Wouldn't be surprised if in a year they say "Mechwarrior 5 canceled, mechwarrior online getting co-op mode".

Purchased a Dell small shit laptop for my missus a few months ago and it's atrociously slow considering it actually has quite a bit of ram and cpu power.. the problem is the 5400 rpm hard drive which I was trying to get a 500GB SSD but dell was asking like 700$ more for this.

Now i'm looking at it going I should have bought the SSD but maybe I'll try to do it myself and fuck up the warranty.

Procedurally generated jazz hands.

..-=ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN=-..

I pretty much thought this in ever preview of the game and thought to myself "Anything that you program in can happen, not anything"

it's just bullshit.

I recently finished Heart of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions and thus completed the game.

Was debating playing it again but decided skyrim awaits.

Anyways, Heart of Stone by itself, could be a triple A title. It is a fantastic story with fantastic characters. I loved it.

Blood and Wine had some serious heart string pulls on it but I feel like it failed to develop the antagonist properly and the intermingled relationship.

Ugh.. Anyone else finding that as you get old you have no time to actually play and finish the games that come out? Currently my game queue list just keeps growing.

This skyrim playthrough is going to take like 200 hours as well and that will take me at least 3 months since I average 2 hours a night.

Yeah, I win a ticket and $2/5/10 bucks regularly enough that it most pays for itself. I'm not heavy into the lottery. I usuall by an Ontario 49 for a buck once a week and that's a standard $2 million jackpot. I won $50 on it a few months back so that basically pays for a year of tickets right there. And I'll spend a bit more on the more expensive tickets - as you said, and probably like most everyone - when the jackpot is large enough to warrant the gamble - which in Canada is in the $30-$50 million dollar range. It never ceases to amaze me how many people you see that just spend mad bank on it buying shit loads of different tickets, scratch and wins, etc. all the time. It's like, 'So, that's your retirement plan, eh? Good luck with that.'

So when Office lottery pools go around, I always say yes to them.

I worked at this one oil site back in the day, it was a pretty large site and they called me in to do routine maintenance. Usually they have on staff guys to do this sort of thing.

When I got there, doing my site orientation and there's only one guy in the entire office. Ask him what happened to everyone and he said "They all quit after they won the lottery". The depressing look on his face said it all. He was that one guy who didn't buy into the office lottery and they won.
Since then, I've been in every lottery pool. 5$ a week isn't much.

Alberta workers win

Still trying to save face after your horrible lies?

You would have to be a fucking idiot to give these guys more money in the future. Even if they decided to implement all the features they promised over the next 2 years.

You know what they are.

There's this game, it's called mechwarrior 2, someone should really reboot that game for VR.

Best Mechwarrior game ever. Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries was also pretty awesome stand alone expansion. Yeah the graphics sucked compared to what we have today, but the music, atmosphere, story, lore and gameplay was some of the best fun I've ever had on the PC.

And what's sad, Mechwarrior online blew it out of the park with how good the controls/cockpit and feel of the game goes but the gameplay of 12 versus 12 deathmatch sucks. Too bad they didn't make that into a single player game because it would have been AWESOME.

As for VR:
I finally played Eve Valkyrie on it a few weeks ago and found out that even though I love rollercoasters and such. VR makes me so disorientated and dizzy. Jerking my head around to see opponents while doing loops in space almost made me fall over when I stood up afterwards.
Really made me question if I even want VR stuff in the future.

There's too many people dealing with high stress in their lives that a game like Farming Simulator 17 thrives.

I'm actually not sure if it's entirely possible to block all theft of information.

Updates to software/hardware means an ever changing and unpredictable points of entry.

Examples are those recent DDoS attacks using smart cameras where people easily exploited 40,000 home camera vulnerabilities to absolutely destroy businesses. I'm not even a techsec amateur but I can see how its fighting a losing battle.

Hell, Quantum computing will soon destroy all encryption as we know it.

For Vampires i added Skeleton Archers via the workshop (thats the only mod i used for them)....they are pretty balanced and very weak, although i just kept wrecking everything with auto resolve on very hard with 2stacks, it wasnt even that fun for me. I'll have to try out one of the other races, not much time as of late.

Don't use auto-resolve. It's not accurate and it also robs away from what the game is (a battle simulator!).

Basically unit number and strength stats are favored for auto resolve when in reality the morale hits during a real battle will cause the same armies to lose. I've done a bunch of never auto resolve games and its just so much more fun

I really should get into this game, now that Ive finished Shadow Warrior2 and Tyranny. Tried playing with the Vampires, since they seem so cool, but they are just not doing it for me. Any tips, suggestions to make the game more fun? (Yes I usually LOVE Total War, so no idea why this game doesn't gel for me).

I think this is by far the best Total War game to date.

Undead (Vampire Counts) don't have any artillery or much armor piercing abilities so you really have to play them with zombie throngs and flanking with vampire bats and hounds. It's a hard faction to play overall until later on when you can afford varghuls and grave guards for all them. I haven't played them since they released Vlad but apparently he's crazy overpowered but they might have nerfed him since.

Empire is the jack of all trades and can be played in a variety of different ways. I quite liked using throngs of swordsmen and then cavalry charge smashing and crossbowing them with halbrediers along the outside.

Dwarves are damn sweet, you feel crazy powerful but they have no fast movement so you basically turtle up and whittle your enemies down with Quarrelers and cannons. They have crazy moral and is very hard to break them when you have your lord beside tehm. The problem with dwarves is they cannot assassinate enemy agents in the campaign map very well because they lack an assassination character which means you get goblin big boss assassin spammed on your armies which is annoying.

Orcs are hard to play at first because you need to overwhelm your opponent with numbers and flanking. Recommendations are goblins/orc boyz default with cycling of troll charges at the start and get that waaagh up fast.

I've been enjoying the new Scorching Ray ability... Started out a bit sluggish (in part compared to crazy good early game leveling uniques for melee skills, and my lack of +spell damage early on), but it's pretty low mana cost, so throwing 3-4 support gems at it didn't cause me to be out of mana all the time...

The skill is a bit clunky at times, but when it works, I'm basically just waving it past a group of mobs over half a second, and they all start burning for 1.9s.. Rares don't always die in that sweep, but a bit of concentrated fire helps that...

I've never had so little trouble with the Lab boss though... Great concentrated damage, and I didn't insta die to a charge/projectile because of all the extra life/regen in that build.

I'm using a build based on ZiggyD's RF/Ray Inquisitor, and this is the first time I've actually gotten to play RF, because it takes so much regen and fire res investment, I would just throw it on for 2s and wonder how people can use it... Now that I'm using it effectively, it's great, both from a 'run past small mobs and they die', and the huge dmg buff to Scorching Ray : )

Still won't likely make it far enough to do Uber Lab though, but we'll see if the content progression changes coming up change any of that... If Atlas only made me spend an extra few hours in maps, I don't see the other stuff doing enough for me.

I burned myself out of the game last league again. Going to probably skip this league and play the next, I instantly thought the Ray skill would be crazy good for a Chieftain with +life regen from fire damage.

I'll probably look up ZiggyD's RF/Ray build for this league just to see what he had in mind.

How bad is the radiation on Mars?

It always makes me cringe when they talk about planet cores. The most they've ever been into our planet crust is a measly 12 Kilometers. The earth is 12,742 km in diameter.

This means they have only explored 0.2% of the earths depth. The rest is theory and scientific deduction based off seismic observation.

While I know that NASA is filled with people way smarter than myself, I can't help but think that these buzz articles are just trying to create more excitement for Mars, which isn't a bad thing.

I probably need to start getting flu shots again. I've only ever gotten them when I was in the military. I justify this to myself based on, as far as I know, I've only gotten the flu once. That, or my immune system is good enough that it never feels worse than a minor cold. But as I am getting older now... I should probably should bend to better practices...

Is this military mandatory vaccinations?
