You clearly haven't played the game. The monetization going on in the game was very minimal. Everything in the game was achievable by just playing the game and leveling up getting the same items anyone could buy with real money if they wanted to.

People like you kill me with your over stating the obvious when it suits your cause. Try lying a little more, and maybe we might believe you.

And the monetary system in the game had nothing to do with the games faults. that would be the lack of things to do and end game issues and the lack of a proper grouping system for people to do raids and Nightfall's.

Like I said, you clearly haven't played the game.

There's three issues I can see with Destiny 2.

1. A lot of the subsystems are designed around the Eververse and a constant attrition of items you earn or buy. Shader library limitations, shaders now being consumable, limits on ships and sparrows, etc... Destiny 1, from what I could see, had *tons* of collectibles for your character to grind to get and use and show off. Now a lot of that is locked behind a consumable mindset to direct you towards the Eververse. Supposedly that is changing.

2. The first DLC sucked. Like. Seriously. Sucked. It was tiny and not fun and the Infinite Forest was walled off behind missions. In the weeks after it dropped I saw a huge exodus of players.

3. Bungie has a problem communicating with the community. It's so bad it's hard to understand WTF is going on. They're trying to work on it but I can't see why the first 6 months was a "fuck those assholes" kind of attitude towards the community.

There are other issues, end game raid content was bizarre and not much fun, but with steadily increasing content that would have been minimized. The big 3- the obvious system design around Eververse, the anemic first DLC out of the gate, and the lack of communication seems really to be what killed the game off.

Here's hoping that the Warmind expansion on the 8th actually has some content.

You also missed that D2 had half the amount of things to do than D1 with pretty much exactly the same engine/graphics/enemies/game play.

You're correct that the money store isn't really that bad, I didn't get the outrage behind it. Things like player storage for shaders/upgrades/mods was supremely stupid. I should be able to carry all armor upgrades/mods without having to delete them... Collecting +5 kinetic mod for my main weapon was hard enough to get without having to delete armor mods and such to make room for it.

No end in sight for releasing half finished games...

Game play is fun, execution and content were less than half that of destiny 1 considering it was basically the exact same engine and enemies.

DLC this one for 2 years, releasing better and better content and BOOM Destiny 3 will show up with nothing again and DLC it badly..

Well, Boeing joining the re-usable rockets could be great for catapulting the space exploration race. Thanks SpaceX for being awesome and starting maybe a decade of "We're better than you!".

I'm in the minority but many of the quests are terribly written (chap 3 bank job, Shanni and Triss) and the constant false choices (chap 1 Abigail). Forced to play as a poorly written egotistical male instead of creating your own Witcher (male or female, good or bad or neutral) then learning about the world, while doing the main quest to find out what happened to the magical widget.

I mean, those would be fair criticisms if the game had been created out of nothing, but it's an adaptation of a series of books, and geralt is the main character from the books. It's called 'The' Witcher not 'A' Witcher. This is like complaining that you have to play Batman in a Batman game.

I thought the writing was pretty good, but this game was a bit of a slog to get through, especially towards the end.

You're falling for the troll bait.. These people never understand the points your trying to convey much like arguing religion.

Im just glad someone did Battletech. Finally. Truly awesme game, Im 10 hours in and I feel like I've just scratched the surface.

I GG'ed my first campaign last night after taking a work from home day (don't look at me like that, it was legit). Lost two pilots to head caps in back-to-back drops. Have to replace an entire lance worth of MechJocks is one thing, having to replace their experience is another.

Smartest thing to do is get a couple back ups and rotate them in every match to keep your experience up.

Played for a few hours last night and had an absolute blast..

For those who don't know, you should read Eck's guide. He's one of the game developers and he's undefeated in the office. So he gives you pointers. Also a lot of things that weren't explained in the tutorials.

I'm guessing you're annoyed by a lot of things in life. Because this is something so small and used so often in every media.

Battletech is getting points apparently for it's AI. That's a good sign. Glad my 100+ beta battles helped build the AI.

Also, apparently Rock, Paper, Shotgun found it boring due to pauses and animations and stuff. Plus the author sounds like he's not a particular Battletech fan.

It's a turned based tactical game.. what did he expect?

I use Stellaris as my "filler" game between games.

Currently, the biggest issue with the game is the AI is completely retarded at managing planet resources and get stuck in these weird "build tons of food" loops.

They really need to fix this.

Firewatch was just another walking simulator, I agree. But then look at the original demo of the team that Valve bought to make Portal! At least if they don't want to make some own games (HL3 confirmed!) they keep buying other teams to keep the fake image up that they are still a game developer and not just a game distributor.

This was probably the best post in this thread. Thanks for the optimistic outlook.

Personally, I love valve and what they've done for computer games.

Medical advice from a rando internet troll including a specific medicine without knowing any of the other pertinents [sp] is helpful? Sounds more harmful to me.

Telling you to check with your doctor about a recurring sinus problem is not a bad recommendation. The specific medication is just his experiences and everyone that has a brain would read it and infer that what works best for him doesn't work best for everyone and that the actual good information is that even if they get you on something it might not work at first.

I remember 15 years ago I had a horrible lung infection and I thought it was just a bad cold and tried to tough it out. Turns out I should have gone into the doctors a good week before.. after 24 hours of high dosage anti-biotics I was able to breathe again so never underestimate the power of doubt and it doesn't hurt to get it checked.

While I think they'll get lots right.... I don't have any faith in PGI ability to program AI good enough.

People say this, but I feel like you generally a game like this doesn't need AI much more advanced than "run towards the player while shooting its guns" to carry a single player campaign. You're not going to have the AI pull feints or flanking maneuvers, things like that are done with event triggers.

Like, when I read the Wing Commander I strategy guide it laid out all these detailed flowcharts of how all the AI decides its maneuvers, but in practice it didn't really feel different from any shovelware shooter where everything's programmed to just fly at you and shoot.

It's not just that, that can be done fine with events and triggers like you said.. The issue is things like weak points in armor will not be favored (simple programming), no torso twists to protect weak points (weighted averages on sides), no peak and shoot cover mechanics (most fps shooters have cover and flank that don't turn out the best but still passable). Same things like this will make the game much better and you can "difficulty" slider all these things with how fast they react.

They've watched millions of metric points on MWO and the tactics but I guarantee you from the game play videos showing everything just driving right at them.

Looks like a locust right right into him and then goes "oops" and turns around.. Can't program radial orbits for fighting? 10 minutes of gameplay back in december

Check with your doctor to see if you're suffering from chronic sinusitis. You may need to see an ENT for that. I went through that last year several times. If you get antibiotics for it make sure you get doxycycline hyclate for it. I did a course of amoxicillin and amoxicillin with clavulanic acid and they didn't do bupkiss, whereas the DH cleared it right up and I haven't had a problem since.

Why can't you post more like this.. helpful and not bitching.

I bet there's some buffer between cliff and the main grunt staff, like a few managers.

We all know cliff would be crazy toxic in his own company unless they did that. Dude is so fucking out of touch... Want to keep your employees? Couple things:
A) pay them a little more than they're worth
B) have leaders who help them grow
C) don't have a sinking ship

Don't blame other viable companies for offering those three items when you can't.
