I'll answer:
There's no time limit.
there's no reputation system so the gangs are just scripted sequences.
The game is missing some "Features" that would make it easily one of the best games ever made. I'll list them:
-Reputation system
-Kill versus non-kill system impacts
-Police system
-Sneaking (comically bad)
-Driving is just badly done code.

That being said.. side quests are fucking amazing and the main story gets fleshed out better. On every quest, click the right side panels and read the descriptions of characters and areas. The setting is amazing and the story is extremely well done as long as you pay attention to how Alt/Johnny/Saburo/Yorinobu all fall together.

Cool, thanks. Yeah, the time limit thing when The ripperdoc guy says you only have a few weeks until the construct takes over your consciousness made me think there was a time limit....but then I was able to just roam around and do whatever, it seemed like the world waited for me so I had my suspicions that wasn't a real time limit....even though there's a clock and day/night cycles.

All of what you posed I agree on early in the game. Seems like some things they could fix or patch in in the time since release, unless it was really as buggy as the internet says at release and they've spent all this time just squishing bugs.

Oh, I would love to do all of the quests....I just know myself and after 40 hours or so in the game I'll start to get bored and want to move on. So far the side quests I've done have seemed more like filler, hopefully that will change. Even the Taxi AI quest line with Cabs giving pop culture references seemed a bit out of place (like the GLaDOS cab for example) for a long term interest. Dunno, so far I'm having fun with it though, seems worth $30 in it's current state.

I think this has to do with the RED engine. CD Projekt wants to drop their in house engine for Unreal Engine. It's been speculated that it's just too onerous to train and keep people on their own engine. I'm guessing that there's some serious flaws on the engine side that makes it so patching some of those things out would be better spent on making a new game. I really hope they DO make a new cyberpunk because I honestly haven't enjoyed a game as much as this since Witcher Trilogy and Mass Effect Trilogy.

From where I am in the story, it sounds like there's a time limit, but so far I haven't see one actually exist.

The gangs don't seem to actually do anything except spawn scripted quests or random "attack on civilian" pop-up quests. I had a couple interactions in scripted scenes with gang leaders where they're all nicey-nicey with me, but then I walk out a door and their random gang members decide to attack me. Again, I've tried not to read much on the game in advance so maybe gangs will play into it more later? They're your bog standard "Guy dressed like this, uses this weapon, and is a caricature of this type of person" gang members, like GTA-V.

.although I doubt I'll finish it unless I just power through the main story and skip most of the side quests.

It feels like I missed out.

You really didn't, despite what people looking back with rose colored glasses will tell you.

BoP is lying; you did miss out, on a crystal meth level addiction that could have possibly destroyed your life.

Especially version 1.0 Everquest... magic users literally had to stare at their spellbook, in game(your screen was full of the book's page) to regenerate their mana. Healing was also so stupidly slow as to look like punishment these days. Don't even get me started on full-PK looting from Ultima Online, or the various scams/bugs/exploits that ruined the game on top of that. Go chop trees for hours, to make arrows, then get Corp Por'd instantly to death and have your house stolen. Rofl! The early MMOs were pure shit, in terms of user suffering, for no useful reason.

I've never played a game as much as I played Ultima Online for 5 years straight of my late teens. It was not good for my social life but fantastic for the adrenaline junkie fun and cheap.

The game was the perfect combination of skill set and not expensive gear on loss so you could just go have fun. You had to grind for money to afford reagents and be quick on the draw. The biggest issue was cheat programs that they ended up integrating into the game.
UOAssist it was called.. Which could Corp Por (energy bolt) people off screen as it had target lock.. that was really horrible programming. I could probably tell you what most of the spells are in their names.
In Flam
In Vas Mani
Ex Uus

Jesus it's been 20 years and I still remember too much

I have so many memories.. I played on Napa Valley server with the name kull/village idiot. Used to play with a dude name Nihm all the time as well as Righty & Lefty who were brothers and a guy named Silent Curse. I lost contact with those guys but man I spent a ridiculous amount of time with those 2.

I think the best part of the game is you could log in.. recall to a dungeon have fun then recall out and log off in 10 minutes wihtout having to commit any more time. I think most MMO's don't understand that fast travel really made that game.

The game was probably the best right before they introduced Trammel. It had actual pacts of people working together and forming friendships and enemies for certain areas of the game. You'd make friends just by hanging out in the dungeons and helping someone out/etc.

I had a GM Smith and bowyer named Puzilan which was named after one of the rogue mages. That took sooo much time but i remember it being relaxing listening to winamp while mining for hours.

I spent about a decade looking for a replacement after the game fell apart around 2002-2003. No one ever came close.

At this point, after 10 long years i've decided to ignore all my emails about Squadron 42 updates.

I wish there was a toggle for all UI elements assigned to one button. Performance is a lot better now than when I played through it at the beginning, so have everything maxed out, trying to wander around and just come across shit organically/cinematically and it's way more immersive trying to play it patiently (like most games). Red Dead 2 easily became my favorite game ever once I tuned out the main missions and started exploring the world that way (that game is just whole other levels compared to CP2077 though).

I played all the way through RDR2 and got the "Good" ending of that game. There's obvious problems with that game as well such as Tedious mechanics they put into it. Plus the long drawn out homestead simulator at the end... but I understand why they did it.

There's so many levels of detail in RDR2 that they obviously didn't need to do which makes the immersion a little more but doesn't actually change the basic take away of the game which is the story.

Pinkertons be damned and all that.

Still haven't bothered with this game yet - mostly due to the horrendous launch but also due to my ageing (but still pretty robust) GPU. When they finally drop the price to around $15, I might be tempted to finally take a look.

If you can look past the glaring issues:
-Police AI
-Sneaking being hilariously stupid
-No reputation system
-Killing versus non lethal takedowns (doesn't make any difference basically)

The game is ridiculously good. Setting is fucking crazy good, story is absolutely awesome and the game play is still pretty fun.

I recommend playing Female V... the voice actress really knocked it out of the park with emotional impact. I spent a good month thinking about the ending.

I never played threewave...

But in the spirit of talking about quake 1.. anyone remember the name of the map for Team Fortress Quake 1 where they spawned a ball in the middle of the map and 4 teams had to grab it and then go and put it into their net?

It was like Murder ball or Power Ball or something like that.

Kudus to cult of the lamb. Its really good to see indie games performing so well the past few months.

Farthest frontier also is from the makers of grim dawn. good for them, even though it is early access

Oh man, 60fps Bloodborne with fixed frame timing would be bliss.

What Souls game had a PC port problem where the frame rate was tied into weapon durability? Anyone remember that?

Like console was 30 FPS and PC was 60 FPS and weapon hits were tied into frames so double the frames = double durability lost.

Looked it up pretty quickly.. dark souls 2 which Bandai confirmed.

GGG has been hitting it out of the park content wise for this game. It's amazing how much content there is for PoE, and how different each "season" is compared to previous ones.

I have 900 hours into this game and I still feel mentally hindered on how to build a good character and how to actually play the game.

I haven't played in years.. lot has changed but overall the biggest problem with the game is it is almost too complex for how long the seasons run (i don't have 8 hours a day to hit high end game for the new seasons)

I'll reinstall Cyberpunk at some point eventually, but I did complete a playthrough on the buggy release day version. Pretty fun, I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't call it a masterpiece, personally.

The trailer for the show looks pretty good, in a somewhat generic anime sort of way. I'll watch it.

At first I was disappointed with the ending I got (the sun) but then as I thought about it and filled in the pieces I was missing by going back into the game and looking it became more evident it's fantastic.

things like Yorinobu purposely put Johnny on the engram as a fuck you to his dad. Yorinobu's hatred for his father. Why Johnny is such a piece of shit and how it all ties together with Alt and Arasaka.
