I thought this game was impossible to run offline

Well it did take them an entire year to rewrite the game engine business model, to support offline mode. So yes, it was impossible with game engine business model version 1.0

If you want to monetize it, get permission. It's pretty simple. No one's saying you can't engage in Fair Use otherwise.

Get who's permission? The game companies license music for their game. They also allow you to film their game and post videos on youtube. But the music creators are saying that their music that came along with a game aren't licensed. BS. If I made a movie using licensed music, then I allow you to take clips from my movie, there is nothing the original music licensee can/would do about it.

"Currently the problem is the resolution"

That was my whole point. And the resolution is NOT a problem. They have easy access to high rez usable view screens. Their problem is not a technical issue.

It is a MONEY issue. Same as it was back in the day. They wanted PROFIT, so they cheaped out on the displays resulting in pixelated mess. Now they are trying to find an acceptably high rez display..... for as cheap as possible.

what they should do, is deliver it with a decent high rez display.... and take a bit of a loss much like Sony did with the PS 3. Better this, than shipping a less than decent display. Sony took the loss, but not they are everywhere.

I doubt in the 90s you really could have put a decent resolution display in such a small package without huge weight issues. Today with screen technology its finally possible.

I would be willing to bet they will offer multiple models with different resolutions. No reason they can't appease all possible consumers.

No, but it being a problem with a certain batch is highly likely. MS would probably like this information so they can track down the source of that bad batch.

Really? Its a rouge like game. This is 1000 times better graphics than nethack (or 1000 times worse depending upon who you ask). Its not about the graphics anyways, its a strategy games. Would you complain that Risk board game has crappy graphics?

Yep, if it came with Wifi I'd consider it for the second TV as Wiis do make great video streaming devices. But this is a device without a purpose.

I don't know, 500GB PS3 for $149 is cheap in my book, especially as it twice that price last week.

'Cause they're not THAT cheap.

Also: Half a million bucks for my GTA Online character? I think I better make a second one to prepare.

Will they allow non-STEAM games to run on the OS?

I'm quite sure the answer is yes. Valve has stated that it will be OpenSource and that its Linux, and that they are approaching this as an open platform. So you should be able to install anything you can install in Linux right now. Will it be "integrated" into your Steam Library? Probably. Currently you can add any of your Windows installed programs into the steam launcher. I see no reason why SteamOS wouldn't allow for this as well. Only issue I see is you might not have Gamepad support for random program X.

Didn't stand a chance..

Honestly, I don't think there is a case on the market that would. At BEST you'd have a case that would send the phone flying at huge G forces that would destroy the internals.

Wow, a balanced article on paypal, I didn't know that was possible.
The big problem for paypal is that people can and do reverse funds for crowdfunding credit card payments. If a crowd funding campaign brings in 100,000 in donations and doesn't produce, paypal can be stuck with 100,000 in chargebacks and no way to reclaim the money. They are going to have to get the credit card companies to change their policies and restrict chargebacks for this type of funding first. How that's possible? I don't know. Maybe during the purchase you have a popup legal agreement that says you are making a donation and can't chargeback. The credit card companies would then need to limit chargebacks for these charges to only issues where your credit card was stolen for example.

That whole share feature was so overblown. What "Share with 10 people!" meant was that you could designate 10 people who then had the opportunity to play a time-limited demo of games you owned. One at a time. As in, if person 1 is playing the time-limited demo of Game A, persons 2-10 had to wait until person 1 was done playing Game A before they could play a demo of it. And all this was only IF the publisher agreed to it.

Is it better than what you have on Steam? Yes. But it would have been so limited as to be almost useless.

I never read anything about the time limit - disappointing and yes this does negate the feature as being useful. I certainly didn't have any expectation of concurrent usage though (and that seems reasonable).

rumor-about-xbox-one-family-sharings-downsides-has-fla-534484570

After MS ditched their DRM stuff, this information was put out by something claiming to work at MS. "When your family member accesses any of your games, they're placed into a special demo mode. This demo mode in most cases would be the full game with a 15-45 minute timer and in some cases an hour. This allowed the person to play the game, get familiar with it then make a purchase if they wanted to. "

MS execs said this was false.

Who knows...

Still though, online buying was their only option, they weren't really offering physical disc sales (which some people, like those in the military need, and it destroys disc rental systems as well) at all. It would have been wonderful if they offered this options for virtually bought games, while keeping the standard disc based games the way they were. But MS basically committed to all or nothing with this system, and everyone choose nothing.

From what I understand the "magic" is really in the graphics chip in the 360. They could do PowerPC emulation plus the real graphics chip and it might work. Will they do it? Not in a million years.

He pretended he wasn't lying, but that he thought Wyden was talking about just email data. Which at that time, they no longer gathered. Because, you know, "are you gathering ANY DATA AT ALL?" is so easily misunderstood. Also, let's be honest here, perjury is only for the common plebs. A government big shot like Clapper would never be charged with perjury.

As for your first question, Obama is truly fucking terrible. He genuinely deserves to be in the Worst Presidents of All Time discussion.

They had at this point already admitted to the phone metadata. They where asked, are you collecting data on millions. They said NO. Which contradicted the metadata they had already admitted to, so they turned around and said, oh yeah, that.. I didn't know you were talking about that.. Honestly it seems more of a blunder to me, why would you lie about something you already admitted to?

I'm confused, does this have legal backing? Could they be sued by Blizzard out of existence? It hints at Blizzards support in the kickstarter, but they really should make clear if there is or is not danger of legal issues.
