Well, there should be a secure method of identification then to make sure 18+ means 18+. I'm sure people would be able to bypass it, but it would solve a big chunk of problems with 8 year olds spending $1000 on candy crush.

This isn't a problem that needs solving... It was already solved years ago... Teach your kids what those tactics mean, and why they need to be avoided... If that fails for your kids (Worked fine for ours), don't enable purchases on your kids devices.

So you're basically wiping aside any societal rules to help those that need it? It's the law to wear a crash helmet if you ride a motorcycle, even if that's common sense to you, it might not be common sense to other people.

And how many parents out there have a better understanding of technology than their kids? You're saying that the parents have to be tech-savvy to even know that there is such a function to restrict purchases. For most families I imagine the kid asks to buy one thing for $5 once, parents say OK, the device stores CC info, kid starts racking up the bill, parents have no legal recourse.

If there was a system in place (that worked) where kids (whatever age you deem appropriate) can't do that shit, then the companies would have to refund them.

It's not a flawless idea, but I think that in general we need some regulation here. Isn't that what the whole #lootboxgate movement is all about? If people are mad at Battlefront, they should be teeming with hate towards freemium mobile games. So let's come up with answers.

I think that targeting freemium shit towards kids should be illegal, unless there's a clear, easy-to-use method of turning off all MTX until the account gets verified as an adult that can make their own decisions. Or maybe just that the account is linked to a CC with THEIR OWN NAME on it, not their parents. That with an 18+ gate.

I'm sure people would be able to bypass it, but it would solve a big chunk of problems with 8 year olds spending $1000 on candy crush. We put a man on the moon almost 50 years ago, I think we can figure this one out...

I never got how they can't figure out a voting machine that isn't hackable, or doesn't break, or can actually you know COUNT VOTES ACCURATELY.

When the ENTIRE WORLD lives and dies on a financial system that tracks every 1/100th of a cent globally without ever messing up. Some comedian (can't remember who) made the observation about going into a Casino and wondering if they care if the tally at the end of the night is +/- a few hundred... lol yeah right. They have that shit so locked down you can't even do math in your head.

anyways, my point is that if there's incentive to get a system done right, it will manifest itself.

PvZ is a great game, it's just too easy. Once you figure out how to do an optimum build order, you literally can never fail.

PvZ2 is a lot more challenging in that regard, but of course, it's absolutely infested out the ass with EA's microtransaction shit.

Isn't PvZ2 just laden with the standard "candy crush" timed lockout stuff? Like it's a free game, but you can only play a certain amount before you get locked out for 45 minutes or so, but you can pay to bypass?

For a game that plays well on a mobile device, it always worked for me cause I'd only be playing for 10-15 minutes at a time. If you wanted to binge it you'd hit the paywall pretty fast.

I don't really know how I feel about this model. On one hand it feels really insidious, but on the other I get to play a fully fleshed-out game (alot bigger and more complex than the first game) without paying a dime.

You'd think that if the ratings industry meant anything this would all be an easy fix. Any game that has these "freemium" things should be rated 18+ so that no children are spending $1000 on this dumb shit. If you're an adult, then you can make up your own damned choice. I'm all for personal responsability.

Well, thanks angry mob of gamers. I'm sure that the 2-years of DLC seasons they had planned will be massively gimped now. Good work. WE DID IT!

I like how KX's solution is "just charge $12.99 for each DLC"

Weren't microtransactions the PROBLEM?

Cause "loot boxes" isn't an issue, like I've said a dozen times, You had to roll the die to see what loot you got in DnD 40 years ago. So don't give me that shit. Chance has always played a role in gaming.

Right, and split the player base up. brilliant. Get used to $50 near-mandatory season passes coming back for good guys! WE DID IT!

Just cause they fucked up the implementation doesn't mean that funding DLC development to give to all players for free by harnessing the spending power of the 1% who want to pay for crates was an inherantly terrible idea. It was just implemented in a terrible way.

No.

Massive is easily my second fav developer next to DICE, I have a soft spot for the Swedes I guess.

Played about 4 hours of WiC last night after getting the MP fix working, goddamn that gameis still so much fun. Hope it gets a spiritual sequel someday, but they're probably working on a sequel to The Division...

Man, I thought this board was bad, scroll down on that comment thread about Respawn until the first person who doesn't bash Respawn for this move, and instead encourages them to make the MP more like TF1 than TF2, and just watch how people jump down his throat.

Last time I ever read comments on GameSpot, I don't know what I was thinking.

I got the "season pass" for D1

Only to find out it only included 2 shitty expansion packs, and left out the third "real" one that cost extra.

For D2 it seems like this first xpack is pretty garbage. Don't even know why they bother, it's just such a blatant effort to get EVERYONE on the season pass. If you really want to play D2, you pretty much have to pay $110. If not you literally get left behind with lower level caps, etc.

You can't be 100 levels above others in the DZ, there is strict level segregation. You'll never see someone at gear level 280 when you're 180. And if you don't want to compete at the highest levels, then just find slightly lower gear so you get put into lower level DZ servers.

They have had multiple servers for every 20-30 levels of gear level for almost a year now. This has been fixed for a long time.

The solution is NOT to just axe the most interesting part of the game.

Looking forward to the new Darkzone 2.0 Love that you cant be attacked if you dont go Rogue. Its about time UBI!!!

Wait, what?

Is this real?

That would completely kill this game for me...

The whole thrill of going into the DZ was that you'd always be looking over your shoulder, that anyone could betray you. It offered a gameplay experience incomparable to almost any other.

If now it's just a high level grinding zone.. then who the fuck cares...

You just answered the question I was going to ask...who the hell doesn't have/hasn't played Black Flag yet? I thought everyone would have by now. BF is definitely the best of them. If you were ever going to only play one game in the series that would be the one to play. I prefer Ezio and the Italian Renaissance myself, but BF was the most fun and most like playing out a classic pirate film. Cruising around the Caribbean - especially if you're playing in the winter - is pretty damn sweet as well.

Am i reading this right? Cutter likes the Assassins Creed franchise from the well-renowned Ubisoft shit?

I must be dreaming a nightmare!

HOW DARE SOMEONE LIKE A GAME? DON'T THEY KNOW? DON'T THEY KNOOOWWWWWW??

I think I'm the only one that enjoyed Unity. I didn't finish it, but it seemed to have a more cohesive plot than Origins. Origins is pretty great, I'm i think halfway through the game, level 22.

Yeah, they pretty much doubled the credits you earn if you do well. Also, they made it so AFK farmers get 1 credit at the end of the match, so pretty much solved both problems.

Nice to see no one gives a flying fuck as it doesn't further the narrative that DICE is evil.
