It's amazing how creative the PR people can be in trying to make more-of-the-same sound unique and interesting. Maybe a few of these studios should hire the PR folks to design the games; maybe we'll finally get something new.

On PC, not so much. Now, me and you might enjoy the voltage porn and having 7 different programs controlling the settings, but most of normal people don`t and I don`t blame them for it.

Sorry, but that's bull. I haven't "tweaked" anything on my desktop for a PC game in years. I put the DVD in (or click "Download"), install, and then click "Play." Then, as if by a miracle, the game... runs.

Folks who babble about needing to tweak settings apparently haven't gamed on a PC since the 90's. Sure, if you want to run some esoteric extreme performance build. But just playing games (at higher fidelity and frame-rate than consoles) requires nothing but a desktop icon...

Hmmm, drumming up new business, eh? I wonder if these weekends are actually expanding the base. It seems to me that anyone interested in space games either is already on board or doesn't trust CR at all. Not sure what this will accomplish...

The fact that we know it is a lie doesn't make it less of a lie. They are representing what they want the game to be, rather than what it is. There's not a lot of difference... except when the presenters don't acknowledge that what they are playing is the "vision," rather than an actual demonstration of the game. Because it's not.

Everyone has seen when a game has had to change because some feature doesn't pan out. Well, that isn't a problem on the "demos," as whatever feature doesn't have to be implemented... just scripted. But it leaves the impression with the viewer that said feature is possible and already a part of the game. It's lying about the progress. Normally, no one really cares so long as the demo represents the final gameplay fairly. But when it doesn't...

They seem to have done everything a kickstarter could do wrong:

• Play to nostalgia without recognizing that nostalgia is often impossible to live up to - check!
• Overpromise - check!
• Underbudget - check!
• Use an engine not directly designed for your needs - check!
• Hire toxic community managers (that are your employees' girlfriends) to alienate your supporters - check!
• Delay & Excuses - check!

Once people invest energy in getting to know the characters, they don't want to invest more without a substantial payoff... which neither show has managed to make worth the cost of a main character so far.

I'm confused. Is the beta ending, or are they canning the whole game?
