I hope this turns out great... I loved Homeworld 1, Cataclysm, 2, and the more recent planet based spinoff. Although all the games did have some truly annoying scripted missions, hopefully that gets avoided this time around... beautiful games though!

Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak was great, the flying units, especially the gunship, were some of the best outside of Total Annihilation. Such a feeling of weighty destruction!

Strongly recommended for those who haven't played (get past the first 3 missions which are pretty pedestrian)

According to analysis from blockchain security firm CertiK, the Beanstalk attacker used a flash loan obtained through the decentralized protocol Aave to borrow close to $1 billion in cryptocurrency assets and exchanged these for enough beans to gain a 67 percent voting stake in the project. With this supermajority stake, they were able to approve the execution of code that transferred the assets to their own wallet. The attacker then instantly repaid the flash loan, netting an $80 million profit.

Based on the duration of an Aave flash loan, the entire process took place in less than 13 seconds.

80 mil for 13 seconds work? Not bad. That must be some kind of record. And the stupidity of crypto continues unabated. Imagine that, being able to borrow a billion "dollars" with zero collateral at that. I was going to say it was in commission of a crime but actually it wasn't. The perp simply exploited a stupidly designed system. I actually have to doff my hat to them.

I like seeing these stories every day. It reminds people to not be stupid and evil and deal in crypto.

Imagine begging your investing firm to create crypto funds. "John, why did the fund lose 50% value in the past two weeks? What kind of metrics are you guys using to analyze these?" "Um...there are no analytics to use. It's all based on feelings and word of mouth. You just hope it keeps going up, because they are all backed by absolutely nothing other than hopes and prayers." "Oh."
Not that different than mortgage backed securities.

Quite different. Mortgage backed securities unwound to physical property. The real estate might have been worth a fraction of the face value, but it was an asset that did exist and arguably made a good investment, eventually.

In the words of Tony Soprano; "Buy land because God sure as hell ain't making any more of it."
