13. Re: Arma 3 Delayed Dec 13, 2012, 20:47 NamecaF

I wonder if the delay is to rework the "islands" so they're less-realistic in terms of military installations etc. at the behest of the Greeks, in order to let their guys out?

The Greeks problem with them might be that their game is seemingly (rightly or wrongly) giving away too much info about their islands and military installations - after all that was the main reason the guys from Bohemia were arrested wasn't it?

Who cares if the guy playing him sucked. The game it self looks sweet. Id rather see in game footage than some cut scene.

Dont get me wrong, ingame IS better than cutscenes. My point was, why go to the trouble and effort of hiring a film director and hype his involvement in some "cool new 7 episode super trailers" and then just show us ingame footage of some amateur playing the game? It seems to be the opposite of what they're attempting to do?

Either drop the Hollywood directors involvement and give us regular ingame footage trailers, or utilise a film director and show us a 7-episode mini-feature? Get where I'm coming from?

From someone who use to live near Hollywood, just know that Hollywood director and Hollywood drugaddict are synonymous

LOL. No doubt.

Wait I'm confused. It's after the aliens attacked. A huge dome has been built over new york (I presume to keep the black gunk from getting out). It's been years and years because the forest has encroached into the city quite significantly and somehow prophet is alive again?

I know right? WTF indeed.

Plus this trailer is shit. I was expecting something a bit more cinematic and 'awesome' considering they've gone and got this "Hollywood director" involved, but honestly its crap.

It's mostly just in-game footage of some idiot playing, making "Prophet" look all amateur and missing his targets more times than actually hitting them.

Boring.

That's how the Humble Bundles always work. Have you never bought one before? (if not, you've missed out on an incredible amount of gaming goodness).

Nope. First time. Ah well, now I know.

I was under the impression most "Humble Bundles" were just as-is and this adding-additional-games-as-it-goes-on was just something THQ were doing because they're trying to get more and more people to give them "donations".

But if this is a regular tactic all Humble Bundles do, then it seems rather strange. Why not just include all the games at the outset?

Maybe next year.

Another Hidden and Dangerous would be the shit. H&D 2 was fucking awesome! I loved that game.

I was hoping 2K Czech would be working on that next after Mafia 2 (using an upgraded version of the Mafia 2 engine).

Pretty fucking decent of them, hey?

You can be sure Activision, EA, Valve and any of the other big names would definitely NOT have done that. So major props to THQ. That's good customer focus right there. I really hope they survive.

I'm not up on how this source code stuff works. But by releasing this, does that mean if you owned the original Doom 3, then got this source code and compiled it, you could use the original Doom 3 assets and resources with the new code to effectively get Doom 3 BFG edition for free?

18. Re: Grand Theft Auto V Details Nov 9, 2012, 00:02 NamecaF

Easy fix for that. They should just add in a "free-roam" mode - separate from the story mode (maybe you have to have finished the story at least once to unlock it). That lets you spawn any and all weapons, cancel or change your wanted level, etc basically to allow you to "free roam" and wreck shit that wont affect your "story" game.

Dunno why they didnt include it in the previous GTAs really.

Of those saying "more like San Anddrasa", what did you think of GTA:IV EFLC - Ballard of Gay Tony?

When I say "More like San Andreas," I'm not referring to how the plot based missions work. I'm referring to the crazy freedom and other features it had: the hovering/rotating rocket launcher that I could get to always spawn outside the casino I owned (or ANY weapons I could get at my houses for free, none of this pay $$ every time crap), the lack of consequences (or at least smaller consequences) for setting up a traffic jam and destroying every car in site, the fact that I never got royally pissed off when I was arrested or died in San Andreas so I felt like I had the freedom to drive a motorcycle off the top of a mountain just to see the tricks and stuff I could do.

The WORLD of GTAIV (and consequently, Ballad of Gay Tony) is what was wrong. Sure, it was gorgeous and well mapped out. It felt like a living and breathing city. But it wasn't fun to live in. I felt like I had to get dozens of hours into the game before it was worth it to pull a crazy stunt simply because of the cost of death: losing all my weapons and ammo and having to pay a lot of money to buy it all again. There weren't crazy events/challenges that I could just run into in GTAIV. It just felt real to the point of not being fun after a while.

Of course, Saints Row 3 went the COMPLETE opposite direction, but in my mind it sacrificed a bit too much. Yeah, there weren't any consequences and I could do absolutely anything, but it stopped even feeling special and interesting after a while, unlike San Andreas where I still had to put in a little bit of work to find a flying vehicle or that perfect bike to do the stunt I wanted.

Perhaps you never made it that far into Wolfenstein 3D or it's just been too long since you have, but it had undead supersolders.

Perhaps you're right. I do remember the mutants in Spear Of Destiny, but I dont remember them in the original game. If they were in it, they were definitely a minor part - there were more regular human nazis than there were supernatural things in the original Wolfenstein 3D.

It wasn't until spear of destiny and then later with Return to Castle Wolfenstein that they focused on that crap. From what I remember anyway.

C'mon, two protagonists? Focusing on the SS "Paranormal Division"? This is going to be shit.

They should have stuck to the original Wolfenstein 3D premise. Lone American hero cutting a swath through hordes of regular Nazis in a massive castle. *Maybe* even Hitler in a mech-suit as a nod.

It should be Die Hard crossed with Inglorious Basterds, not some supernatural action-adventure P.O.S.

I thought Skyrim worked pretty well actually.

As to this game, premise sounds good but after seeing that trailer it doesn't really hold promise.
