I've gotta say the same.... I want to bail on Google, but I honestly only need it for license recovery and bill pay confirmations. I set up a protonmail account at one point, and Google is syncing over to it, but eh. There's a whole lot of work waiting for me, for very little ROI working on the full switch.

Not all artists, musicians, developers, writers have the luxury of giving away their hard work for free.

Which is why this person isn't giving away his work for free. He's saying he doesn't care if poor people pirate it who couldn't have bought it anyway.
It always amazes me how many ”smart” people manage to reach the first point, without being able to fire a single neuron to reach the second point.

There is a significant portion of the population who will never pay for a thing because they cannot. That number is growing rapidly, and until some rich get eaten, will continue. The developer clearly has a brain capable of recognizing that denying the poor culture because of the predatory actions of the ultra wealthy is an act of evil, and states his opinion on the matter.

Will it get the predatory middlemen out of the industry, and into the cookpots where they belong? No, but at least he’s on the correct aide of things.

I am curious as to how much market is "there" for them to acquire. I already own a PS5, but I'm one of those gamers defined by a minimum of 50%+ of their total waking hours spent involved with games (if I'm being honest, it's likely closer to 80%, but don't tell my paycheck) - keep in mind as a point of bias.

I'd think for the most part, those willing/capable of owning both, do, because PlayStation does have some good games, some games are better suited/more comfortable with the controller input and big TV (individuals who have the PCs set up to feed their big screen is a much much smaller market than PSx owners).

Some games, like GTA 6, are a good fit - it gives RockStar a stable platform against which they can work out kinks and fix bugs, before having to deal with the additional complexity of Windows / SteamOS installs, while not denying themselves the PC market (PC die hards that like GTA games will still get it when it comes out on PC, no sales lost).

I'd almost say swap XBox into the above statement(s) as desired, but it's just not the same platform the PS5 is recently. I've owned XBoxen in the past, but there's been nothing tempting me of the past few iterations.

I still use YouTube just fine - no history, no ads or ad tracking, all the BS blocked.

Absolute worst case scenario I get what I need through other extra-legal means.

Unfortunately Roll20 made the big mistake of not capitalizing on market dominance when they were first. Now, they lag far behind in features and quality, and are playing a hectic game of catch up.

With Wizards of the Coast now offering their own VTT, combined with D&D Beyond - Roll20 will not have the chance to get back out front. Their mismanagement has given launch to a few competitors with much nicer subscription offerings - though the smart folks are bailing on the subscription model for VTTs and going with Foundry VTT, which is currently top dog among GMs.

I wish I had a stake in Foundry VTT, but at least I was able to extract the thousands of $ of content I had purchased on Roll20 so I can continue to use it wherever the future takes me.
