I've long been a fan of Robert Forster's work. While he had some iffy kind of roles earlier on in his career, it really take off with Jackie Brown. I remember seeing a preview of the pilot for a Grimm Fairy Tales animated series at Phoenix Comic-Con, and he'd been cast as the Grim Reaper. He was absolutely perfect.

Another good actor gone.

If there's one game I regret being excited about more than The Old Republic, it's gotta be Firefall. The first hands-on demo at E3 was fun. The initial release was...kinda fun. But ye gods, that thing just kept getting worse and worse. Even their "relaunch" effort was just a completely hot mess. I feel bad for all the people who played this, including myself.

And something easily forgottem, MTG has a deep lore, if you remove the cards and basically convert it into a living breathing fantasy world it could be an absolutely mind-blowing RPG. But yeah, what are the chances these 2 devs of all the devs manage THAT?

If they're smart (which admittedly I've no evidence they can be on a consistent basis), they've been making use of the "Planeshift" supplements WotC put over the last year or so as a starting point to help them. Those should give them at least some sort of grounding for a standalone RPG while helping them get a handle on the lore. Again, that's if they're smart.

Certainly looks like it. I live in Arizona. Definitely got Monument Valley looking right. Phoenix proper looks a little off, though.

I gotta be honest and say I'm not sure who to root for here...the idea of yves being dethroned sure sounds appealing.

In principle you should always choose the lesser of two evils.

Yeah, but which one is the lesser evil?

It launches at about the same rate as an arthritic snail trying to do a high jump.

What MMO worth the effort of loading up doesn't have at least some means of displaying the population density on a server?

Yeah, Valve killed this one pretty quickly. The devs then put out a press release basically saying, "Valve killed our project, fuck yeah!"

Idiots.

there is also a new Novice mode if you are a Hicks, so you won't have to keep declaring your game over, man.

Bill Paxton's character was Hudson. Hicks was Michael Biehn. You can delete this post if you want!

Blue is Lt. Gorman!

Impossible. Blue has never been an asshole (least not that I've noticed).

So, just to make sure that I'm getting this right and am not having some weird pre-Thanksgiving tryptophan hallucination: Braben hates DRM, hates the inconvenience that it imposes in him, went so far as to demand its removal from the first iteration of the game, but is perfectly OK with insisting on an always-on connection for the single player game he's sold to everybody else.

The vast majority of serious gamers are online all the time.

No, they're not.

If you're equating "serious gamer" with professional MOBA players, Call of Duty binging fanboys, and EVE Online corporati, you're discounting a massive number of titles which have perfectly wonderful single player modes which do not in any way, shape, or form require a connection to the Internet, nor do they gain any sort of benefit from having such a connection in place. Trying to conflate the degree of involvement and enjoyment of games with the presence of an Internet connection is just ridiculous.

Or, you know, you could just put out the damned game first and see how things go from there.

As excited as I initially was about Shadow Of The Eternals, the more I read, the more disaffected I got. And with all of the drama surrounding Dyack, between his last go-round with this title and the shenanigans with Too Human, it's not inspiring.

I-I just want to kick Denis Dyack's ass. I want to build a machine to kick his ass. I want to build an empire to house the machine that kicks his ass!

Well, I wouldn't want to see CoH return per se, but I'd dearly love to see a new, and better, superhero MMO show up!

From your lips to God's ear, Cutter. I liked CoH, but it was an on again-off again thing. Champions Online kinda went to pot once Perfect World got hold of it. Sure, there's something deeply satisfying about looking down on a city from a perch on a skyscraper, but there has to be more to it.

If I'm going to be a superhero, let me feel like a goddamn superhero. If I'm going to be a harsh vigilante with a big arsenal and a short fuse, let me play that out. If I'm going to be a mutated freak with skin problems and weird biochemistry that makes me faster and stronger than regular humans, let me exult in that. If I'm going to be a dapper gent in a cloak with a library full of arcane spellbooks, make me believe it. Give me a personal storyline, not just a bunch of random single panels. Make my choices have consequences. Let there be "back issues" where others can see what happened, where I succeeded, where I failed. Give me friends. Give me enemies. But first, foremost, and always, make me believe that I am the hero that the city/world/galaxy/multiverse needs.

I would be thrilled unto death if it was a new Freespace. I understand some would say, "Oh they're just jumping on the space sim bandwagon because of Star Citizen!" And if they are, so what? I've missed that sense of epic space opera combat that Freespace delivered. And I want that storyline finished once and for all, dammit! Either the Shivans go down or the TVA does, and I want to know which.

Cutter, of course Full Throttle is biker porn. Most of us don't get to ride the post-apocalyptic highways in leathers and act surly to the nice people safe in their econo-boxes.

Naturally, Outlaws needs to get remade as well. And The Dig.
