I await next year when Apple will introduce a revolutionary new audio port. Audiophile grade! No latency! Just Works!
Yes, outwardly it looks a lot like a standard miniplug, to the uninitiated.

Don't worry, the companies have that angle covered too. If they can't use robots, they'll only hire overseas.

Legit question here, Is Bioshock 2 a decent game? I played Bioshock 1, 2 times through and loved it. I watched Jim Sterling go on about how much better 2 is. I have access to 2. Is it a better game then 1?

It's kinda become a trendy cult classic. Once people got over how it's not like BioShock 1, storywise, they realized that's it the best shooter of the 3. As in, it has the best combat system.

Agreed.

Bio 1 is more about the environment, the story behind rapture, and a horror fps experience. It has servicable combat, but you won't do the proverbial writing home about it.

Bio2 works in the established world and tries to make some new characters which are fine, but you feel you've been down that road before. The upside is they tweaked and improved the combat a lot, making the actual shootybang parts more enjoyable.

Played this a disturbing amount on the atari 8 bit, back when it was new.

Quite a fun little romp, but I'm not sure it needs a remaster. It still works great in emulation, and is fun.
I played it a lot during my Apple //c days. Loved it. I don't really care aobut the newer versions though. I didn't know Atari 8-bit had a port.

The Atari was actually the original version - the others were the ports. But yes, it came out on pretty much every platform of the day at some point.

It's actually fine. Run it at High, it looks great and is a good game.

Or, constantly be vigilant for a reason to be mad. You'll probably succeed.

I always get a huge boost in pretty much all games by just turning off ambient occlusion. It's rarely very useful and is very expensive to run.
I go from 80-90 Hz to 120 vsync locked, which is where I want to be. This is on a 980 non-ti, old ivy bridge CPU.

Type in "gg ez" to everyone now and you'll end up telling your fellow players such delightful phrases as:

I feel very, very small... please hold me...
It's past my bedtime. Please don't tell my mommy.
I'm wrestling with some insecurity issues in my life but thank you for playing with me.
I'm trying to be a nicer person. It's hard, but I'm trying, guys.

Yeah gg ez is such an offensive term, better censor it so we don't offend Anita Sarkeesian or something. Good to know Daddy Blizzard is making sure internet bullies can't upset me in my video games.

Either that, or maybe, Blizzard is just doing some light-hearted screwing with people on the test server.

Nah, must be some conspiracy. Probably because feminism, somehow.

NMS would have been fine if they didn't present it as a AAA title. The $60 price tag just adds insult to injury. It should have been release as a $20 early access title.

I completely agree. It's neat, it really is. But 60 bucks is top tier pricing even for an AAA title with a ton of content.

I suspect that not only would people be less harsh on it, but a ton of people would "give it a try" for 20 bucks. Possibly more than 3x the people.

I'll never understand polygon. I guess it's that my interests never intersect with theirs.

While flawed and I totally get (and agree with) the criticism, NMS is actually pretty decent and interesting, for what it is. I also agree with the very common point brought up - this isn't a 60 dollar game. 30 at release, dropping to 20 very soon after would make it something much easier to swallow.

Still, I find myself wanting to go back and lose myself in the worlds again. It's weirdly addicting and soothing.

Yes, many are saying the game is internally rendering at a lower res than the screen resolution. It looks that way on my setup as well.

Other than some of these things, I'm enjoying it. It is indeed a "very chill" game. It's a nice diversion after a clusterfrank work day.

One source of the stuttering and odd performance:
The default FPS limiter is set to 30. :/

I set it to 60 and things are much smoother, as expected. The hitching seems to have gradually gone away. But yes, when first launched its a bit of a lurchy beast. I suspect some of the NV shader caching doing first compiles might be related.

8. Re: No Man Sky Patch & Plans Aug 7, 2016, 16:17 Phasenoise

I'm curious about the game, but yes, I've played enough games which described themselves as impossibly huge to wonder how much REAL content there is.

The early elder scrolls series, with the real scale contintent. "It would take weeks just to walk across!" Of course, everything is basically the same, just repeated.
Elite Dangerous, which is a galaxy and huge. Except everything is basically the same, just repeated.
etc.

All these games would be more fun with a dramatically smaller "world" but one which was actually crafted.

NMS could be cool, but I'll just wait for a couple reviews to say "wow, it's random but they seeded it with a lot of really cool stuff to see and do" or similar. I fear it's "You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike".
