Anybody on Blues playing this game at all? It certainly looks cool, but it's also basically small team pvp, which turns toxic almost immediately, soo....

Yes it is fun and looks beautiful. Ships are varied and handle well. I think the engine is just asking for a SP mode with story but I always do... I worry a bit about the money making aspect of the game, how upgrading works, and I feel the balance is not tight enough to be a competitive e-sport type game. But definitely fun especially if you team up with a friend or two. Dreadnought to me feels similar in game design to world of warships/tanks.

re:Maddog "Is this "battle royale" mode the game style of this PUBG game everyone is talking about? Sorry, serious question. I don't play much online MP anymore."
yep, its last man standing with only one life, on a large open world map that shrinks killing those not in the safe zone. You start with nothing and scrounge your weapons and equipment from the environment or off the bodies of fallen foes. Think the movie The Hunger Games. There have been lots and lots of mods or games with this mode and it seems to be getting more popular in every incarnation. Arma 2 I think had the first mods but there are lots. I played alot of ARK's version adding dinosaurs and freak disasters to the gameplay.

There is always big propaganda on both sides and usually the answer is somewhere in between. The big tip is to follow who really wants the change and how much has been spent (money and time to get it). The people who are pushing the changes are not in this for consumers and the greater good.

LittleMe wrote on Nov 22, 2017, 03:41:
NN is corporate propaganda. You are useful idiots. Regulations often inflate prices and protect markets to exploit you the consumer. Look at what the FDA has done with drug prices for example. They want to do the same thing to you with Title II. I'm not saying an ISP like Comcast is good but I don't think Title II or strong handed socialist regulation was the answer.

An open market and competition is the much more powerful answer to be sure the Internet is free and open. You the consumer need to have the power, not the feds and not the incompetent FCC.

Now direct your anger at your local government to open up more competition to give you more choices. That would be constructive.

If it runs badly on a i5 then expect to see bad reviews, bad optimization etc.

The good news is the average gaming PC might have a chance to catch up and be able to run it well when it does come out.

This game has so many issues and there are a hundred things I wish they could fix, but damn if it isn't the most fun I've had in a game and the most value I've gotten for my money. A few friends and I play coop just with each other with good pcs, (nvidia 970s or better) so we have had a good experience with no lag and awesome visuals. If you can play with a few friends, and have good pcs, then I highly recommend. We also edited the settings to make it a little less grindy, added a few mods and then played at our pace. Im looking foward to the next generation of survival games that learn the lessons from Ark and improve.

5. Re: Conan Exiles Sales Success; Future Plans Outlined Mar 6, 2017, 23:03 clint

good to hear, Conan will be on my wishlist for later down the track.

Ive had a thousand hours of the best gaming fun in ark with friends but that game is held up alot by its lack of polish, buggy engine and ui.
I think a AAA company starting with scratch learning from what is out currently could be potentially my dream game.
My common complaint with every survival game. I dont want to look for food and water every 5 minutes or I will die. and in ARK I dont want to hang around for hours taming and gathering. With those settings adjusted my LAN group had a awesome, the best ever time in gaming. At standard settings everyone was going to quit on it.
I am all for more survival games, but the genre is very much in its early stages/

edit, subnautica is shaping up to be awesome (just add coop dammit)
the forest is great, just reduce tree cutting by 99% and make fighting enemies work, (too clumsy)

exciting times, Ive only tried a vive for 30 mins but it was enough to convince me this is not a passing gimmick.
A few more years on we will be looking at 4k screens, possibly better FOV and the computing power to do this affordably.
Most of all a good catalogue of games.
I want to jump in now but with so much changing so fast I cant afford to keep up. Im struggling to upgrade my vid card before Mass effect Andromeda hits.

News Comments > Steam Adding 10% GST in AU
18. Re: Steam Adding 10% GST in AU Feb 22, 2017, 15:19 clint

I have no problem with things being taxed, but to keep things fair are the aus gov going to go after every digital retailing thing that aussies buy from and force them to pay tax too. Third party steam keys sellers will get even more popular after this, until they get too big i guess and get noticed by the aus tax office.

I have no problem with currency conversions. My only problem with the steam store pricing is when a game is US$50 for most countries and list specifically US$70 in australia before conversion. Big publishers add extra just because they can due to aussies (in general) having more spare cash than most countries.

The 10% tax would be fine if the 'other' pricing issues were fixed and that tax reflected in gov representation so that when/if steam cheats its customers, the gov rushes in the save us and pushes fair pricing and service.

Doubt it. The game is selling very well, currently top of the charts. The market for this type of game is huge and 'assumming' the devs keep working well on it, this game could be the best in its segment. You may not like the EA system or survival games, but there is a lot of money here to be had and its a growing genre.

quite a bit like ark, but alot more lore, a bit more push to build up and conquer the world but still a immersive sandbox. It is very rpg like with leveling up with experience, finding resources, keep your character alive, earn your armor and weapons, explore the huge world. This is not a first person shooter. The more skill comment is up for argument and I would suggest you check out some youtube before investing.

Quite a lot fun with friends. hosted with 2 friends co-op for 6 hours and loved the exploration of the new world. Got our moneys worth. Heaps to do, plenty of immersion, seems to be a involving story so potentially awesome if you like these type of games. Had more fun in this than a lot of those $60+ games that came out recently and I've just started. Single player would likely get boring after a short while, and the public servers likely a hit and miss affair. But highly recommend coop with a few friends.

Reading most of the negative comments on steam, people have real issues with EA games (but bought this one), expected bug free, lag free experience on day one, couldnt run the game on their pc, or seem to hate survival games in general (yet bought this one)?? Steam is filled with lots of cranky people giving real hatred filled reviews on games that they have played for less than a hour. Imagine reviewing the first halflife before the train ride is over, or oblivion before you get out of the sewers into the world. Too many people who hate games in general but review for the world to see. /rant

intel are so far ahead of the game in r&d, but they deliberately release only small increments to squeeze out every dollar from the mass market. They push the limit a bit in the server market but there isnt much volume sales there. eg. https://youtu.be/0OKRf35O4qU?t=8m21s

just add a coop through the campaign mode and Ill be happy forever.

then a killing floor style mode

I just played alot of dying light coop recently and I feel that the doom universe would suit a story open world coop game. Especially a sequel like Doom on Earth. Damn I just want more good coop games.

Played Planet Coaster almost non stop over the weekend. I had high expectations and I was pleasantly suprised by how good it is, and by the insane level of creative detail i offers. Runs really well on my pc (i5,nv960).
You do have to be the type of person who likes creating things. I spent 3 hours just designing a kiddie roller coaster. Very powerful stuff.
check youtube for an idea of what you can create,

Con- the amount of things you can do is a little daunting, do the campaign to get it in small amounts.
Con- the camera can be a little fiddly to get used to. It is quite powerful but to get the most of it you have to have the mouse keyboard skills of an master fps player.
con- the campaigns and management are fairly slim, the fun is you doing things the way you want.
