Google just demonstrated an SHA-1 collision for the first time... so the digital security world is about to be turned on it's head anyway.
Note that was a collision against a customized source file, so it hasn't been completely broken yet. It's just got some proven cracks. Also, Google and others have been pushing since 2014 to phase out SHA-1 SSL certs, so there isn't much of it left in widespread use on webservers.

that's interesting... i had to look this one up

Ouch! Still the gameplay looked fairly interesting, and the setting looked very interesting. Looks like its only blandly interesting. Oh well. It wasn't ever going to come out for the PC anyway.

it's got a high budget so therefore getting high reviews

I hear the sequel is even more gun pornier than the first and is great.

Good for Keanu.

I went to a pre-screening of the film and wow... IT'S SO GOOD! all of you shooter fans should definitely go to see this movie right away! I would say that it's one of the best action movies i've seen in a very long time. but it went so fast that i missed some so i want to watch it a few times again. it's very light on the story, but i love the action

John Wick Chapter 2 is a continuation of the first, so it's just like the first except it's a lot lot better! just non-stop well choreographed action, with no stupid car chases. it's even got some great gun play, and maybe gun katta like Equilibrium if i remember well

just go see it!

"Nvidia’s promo games will now be tied to the GPU they’re bundled with."

this is smart... makes the games to be played as intended, and prevents people from selling the games off

iguel made ROBOCOP a bad motherfucker. RIP.

Yeah, he was great in that. Traffic too. Always liked his work, and that of his dad, Jose - of which I was just watching Cyrano de Bergerac the other day.

Weirdest coincidence ever. One time in a bar downtown they had a chalkboard in the can for people to graffiti on so they wouldn't write on the walls. I quoted Buckaroo Banzai, "No matter where you go, there you are." And as I walked back into the bar Peter Wellar himself is just sitting down at a table. Went over introduced myself and told him what happened. He agreed with was pretty weird but we had a laugh anyway. So while I never met Miguel I did meet Peter Wellar...who met Miguel.

that's really cool that you met Robocop himself!

I'm a big time Nintendo fan but I'm sitting this one out.

- Hefty price tag, no games included
- Anemic internal storage, sure its expandable but more $$$. Sure the games are on cartridges but they still need patches, DLC, etc etc.
- Very expensive peripherals, Nintendo is taking the toy approach here
- Outsourced online functionality, much of it through a smartphone app
- Paid monthly subscription for online play, not exactly a Nintendo strength in the first place
- Adding insult to injury they're offering free NES and SNES games monthly to people who subscribe...but they vanish the next month. Only Nintendo could be this stingy with 20-30 year old games.
- Even when docked Zelda is running at 900p
- 3 hour battery life (in Zelda apparently) is below even the Shield Tablet
- Confirmed launch line up is paltry yet again, Nintendo has learned nothing from its past 4 console launches apparently

By the time you add second joycon, grip, external battery for travel and some games you're looking at $600+. Oh and Nintendos clownshoes online multiplayer so probably $50+ a year for that. Pro controller for $80 hahah get the fuck out of here.

Anyways I just don't see the value there right now, big meh. Overpriced, underpowered and some frankly arrogant design decisions.

just wanted to say, i've tested the battery of the Shield tablet playing both Borderlands 2 and BL: The Pre-sequel, and for either games going from 100% -> 0% battery is only around 2 hours and even less in Wi-Fi multiplayer. that's 1 hour less than Zelda on Switch.

ASUS Demonstrates ROG Swift PG27UQ- 4K, 144 Hz, HDR, DCI-P3 and G-Sync.

The fuck is 'DCI-P3'? Guess I should read the article but I just can't be arsed at the moment...yeah, something something lazy something something darkside something piss off, mate...

=-Rigs-=

They don't explain it in the article as far as I can tell, but it's essentially a standard for a color gamut (in this case one that allows for the display of a wider gamut).

Also I know when they're putting a $2k price tag on a monitor they feel it needs a unique design but... ew.

It's way the fuck too small, especially at that price. 40-50" is the absolute perfect size for a 4k desktop monitor. Monitor manufacturers need to wise up. Can't wait to see if the new line of Samsung TVs will come in a version of that size.

Agreed! On a side note, though i'd like one of those monitors, am i wrong to think that we'll need some serious video-cards to really see the full benefits of this monitor. I know the low end limitations of gsync in terms of fps and that we can do 60 max details with high end cards. I max out the details on my xb270hu and usually play at 80 fps minimum. I want to do the same at 4k. HDR isn't widely supported so I'm strongly leaning towards enjoying 1440 for a couple more years.

fixed your quote... i also agree, 27" a bit too small for 4K. 34"+ is needed

"That's understandable because G-Sync is the significantly better tech right now and it's very desirable with enthusiasts as a result."

well that's your opinions since a lot would argue that freesync is better than gsync?

Not just HDR; sounds like you saw an OLED screen.

yeah HDR isn't gonna fix shitty black levels. fyi that's how OLED works - each pixel is its own light source. no constantly on backlight to bleed through, so when it's off, it's truly giving off no light. so yeah, probably he saw an OLED screen.

oh yea, that's probably it then... we were testing out HDR at the game company that i work for and got to see it there on a build with HDR features patched in

i'd love an OLED computer monitor with HDR one day but it's going to really mainly be a console thing if they're only going to have this HDR feature exclusively on TVs and not monitors

i saw an HDR game on an HDR TV... the blacks are so good, it's like the TV looks as if it's completely turned off on the parts of the screen that are black. when the screen is all black in the dark, i couldn't even tell if the TV was turned on except for the indicator light on the TV's logo. going from indoors to outdoors the brightness adjusts accordingly, and all the colors really pop out in HDR like a really really expensive TV.

EDIT: hopefully they make a computer monitor with HDR one day, but i don't think there are any even announced

i heard Nvidia literally paid money, like nearly a million and 2 years of development, to Gearbox/2K just to develop Shield Android TV and tablet versions of Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel... and this is for ports that i bet nobody even knows that actually exist on the market
