Glass optics for authenticity? WTF? It's a VR accessory! I won't even be able to see it while using it. It could be neon pink for all I care.

I predict a lot of stuff like this comes out and ultimately fails until a standard for this crap gets worked out. The haptic vest seems like something very easy to standardize an API for.

I'm sorry but if it was good, they'd be able to commit people like this until it can be proven that their condition is treatable.

Again: You either have to seek treatment yourself or have it court ordered. The court did not send him in for treatment. That isn't a reflection of the poorness or lack of mental health treatment in the country. It's a limitation of the legal system.

Quite literally even.. the dude was diagnosed borderline psychopathic with zero empathy and severe psychological disorder.. and they let him walk free with zero supervision? WTF? Does Canada not have a medical system that treats psychological illness?

Yes, they do. A very good one in fact. But you need to seek out treatment or have it court ordered. The latter didn't happen and I doubt a sociopath has any reason to believe they need to do the former (you know the whole "if you think you're crazy you're probably not" schtick tends to work in reverse for the real nutjobs out there).

If you played any of the other betas and hid it after it was over it will be in the hidden list.

Probably because the first one is a good game. If graphics are the only thing holding someone back from playing this, at least this gives them an introduction to it.

UI and Controls were another reason. SS1 needed this, if done right this will be something.

Somehow I doubt Night Dive Studios has the marketing budget to make this anything other than a one weekend featured game on Steam before it disappears into obscurity. It's destined to be one of those games you stumble across two years after its release and go, "Oh yeah, I was meaning to pick that up." At which point you'll buy it on sale, play it for ten minutes and then move on to the latest flavor of the month and totally forget about it.

The closed beta was fun as hell. I poured several hours of my weekend into it with a "just one more round" mentality. Changes they've made since then have put a significant dent in the fun factor. After a handful of rounds I think I'm done with it. There isn't any way to just drop in and play it and fuck around anymore. It's all been tweaked into hyper-competitive bullshit.

I just downloaded the torrent of the video. Youtube won't let me set the resolution to 4k since I only have a 2k monitor, which is strange, because I swear I've been able to do it before on other videos.

Anyway, the downloaded video runs supa-smooth. Technically, the video is playing 4k content, but only at 2k resolution, so you'd think it would take even more processing power for the downscaling.

This just makes me want this shitty game even less. Saw a bunch of z-fighting, the voice acting was terribad, the 3rd person looks annoying as fuck to play as, and the game just looks boring and not very good graphics. $50 million for what?

The 4K resolutions at 60fps are only available on Google Chrome. You can choose whatever resolution you want even if your monitor doesn't support it. All other browsers are limited to normal HD resolutions. Google tends to run trials of all the newer Youtube features through Chrome first.

My computer had no problems with it. Granted I am currently running a pretty high end rig with a 980 in it and sitting on a 1 gigabit internet connection (though sadly not one from Google). Even still it jacked my CPU usage up pretty high but it did maintain 60fps at 4K resolutions without stuttering or dying so yay for me, I guess.

This is what pisses me off about the "media/news". It's gone from reporting the news and facts, to pushing a one-sided narrative. It's happening more and more in all areas of the news, but with gaming websites it's a whole other level.

Stop censoring and twisting facts/quotes to suit your own bloody beliefs and position. Just present the facts and arguments from both sides in an unbiased way and let the readership make up it's own mind.

When was the media ever about just the facts? Every media outlet out there is pushing their own narrative and playing a cheerleader to one side of an issue or another. It's always been that way and likely always will because no one on the planet accepts facts for what they are. All of us filter everything we take in through our own prejudices, perceptions, social norms and life experiences to form what we believe as the "truth", but that's entirely subjective. No one on Earth operates only on objective fact.

This game has a well above average "you'd have to be crazy to buy this at launch" quotient. I'm more than happy waiting until it's deeply discounted and only then picking it up if it's proven to be a solid game.

With Steam sales "you'd have to be crazy to buy this at launch" applies to pretty much every title that gets released on the PC. You can pay $60 for it right when it comes out and potentially become a paying beta tester or you can wait 2-3 months and buy it, fully patched, for half or a quarter of what you'd have paid at launch. Only morons with more money than brains are jumping on AAA titles right on release day.

I did a 100$ backer pack for this a long ass time ago. I still haven't flown or loaded up their alpha stuff or anything in this game. Why? Because I like polished games not "Alphas".

Anyways, I funded this game because of a huge lack of space sims since Freespace 2. At this point, I'm so tired of hearing about this game unless it's "Gone Gold".

I'll be surprised if it ever goes Gold in the traditional sense. It sounds like they just intend to float a beta into the "real" release one day and then keep on adding to it and working on it ad infinitum until the money runs out.

Curious about the CBS offering. I didn't see a ton of series I'd be interested in, but they do offer all the TV Trek series...

Most of what they offer (except the new series) can be found on Netflix or as part of Amazon Prime. There isn't much there that is truly exclusive to their streaming service.

Even the GOTY version of BL2 doesn't have all the content that was released for it though.

Hard to believe current gen consoles dont get this. What's up?

Considering they're all x86, it's rather odd.

Anyone who pre-orders will get free access to the Shock Drop Slaughter Pit, so act fast!

Wonder how much DLC this one will have?

Well, looking at their previous, I would imagine $60-$100 worth....this is a wait for GOTY 75% off sale for me.

Original BL2 with all DLC at full retail was $130.00+

BL2 GoTY was $9.99 at sale time.

No reason to rush into this.

Even if that's so, he's promoting the practice, raising money around it, and using their copyrighted materials to do so.

So what? It's not illegal to code an emulator, even if you're pushing an OS as one. He's not distributing copyrighted material and therefore is not doing anything wrong or illegal. Frankly the existence of emulators is the only reason that some older games exist in any form at all. And I would rather have them exist than not.

Calling it "retro gaming" doesn't absolve you from the fact you're building an OS around emulators and ROMs... If Nintendo catches wind of this, I'm sure he can expect a strongly-worded letter from their lawyers.

I'm sure he's not distributing the roms with the system and therefore there isn't anything for Nintendo's lawyers (or anyone else's) to get upset over. Coding an emulator isn't illegal.

So, um, are people actually pining for this? There are games of the same era are discussed reverently even today: Wolf 3D, Dune II, Ultima Underworld, Star Control II, Alone in the Dark, etc. This game isn't among them. I'd even forgotten it existed.

I hadn't. Mostly because it was one of the most godawful games I played as a teenage gamer. And also because for some reason I have a foggy memory as it being held up as an example in the US Congress of why games needed to be rated ("Think of the children!").
