I never managed to finish 3 either. I tried several times over a couple of years but always got bored at around what I suspect was half way through.

So they're estimating $2 per month if two PCs were connected to the hot spot, streaming netflix, at all times.

This is an increase over idle. What is the increase over a router that already has 2 pcs connected streaming netflix?

Even still, I'm hard pressed to believe most of these routers will get even 10 hours a year connected, so, yeah, pennies.

Regardless, though, it should have been opt-in and should have come with a bill reduction. Want to turn your router into a hot spot? Save $2 per month on your cable modem "rental!"

Yup, I totally agree.

This is great! Beamer, Creston, and I were discussing this very thing a while back.

For you guys who've played it, do newbies have a ton to learn before we can enjoy the game/sim or can we jump right in in an easy/arcade mode to get our feet wet? Also, do I need a flight stick or can I pull it off with M/KB?

People keep saying that BF3/4 are so complex because of the 64 player servers, vehicles, and tons of weapons and that's why netcode is terrible. Why then was the netcode for both Tribes 1 and 2 so good? It had 128 player servers, many vehicles, and tons of weapons and gadgets. The ballistics are more complex in BF and there's destruction but computers are way more powerful now and our network speeds are way better as well so I would expect it to even out. Back when Tribes 2 was out, we were rocking out on 800 MHZ PIII's and 70 Kbps cable modems! Hell, I was playing Tribes on a 28.8 modem and it was accurate. I think people are just making excuses. I realize that things are a little more complex today but Tribes was very complex and that was over 10 12 years ago for T2 and more like 15 16 years for Tribes.

Edit: Another argument that comes up is the wave system which has an impact on netcode because it has to sync the waves. I can understand that but how is this a factor on maps that don't have any waves?

I love Bethesda games, but Zenimax is one of the most litigious companies. Very annoying. I hope Oculus comes out clean.

As for Occupy Google, really? There are a lot of worse companies to protest out there. Google would be way, way down the list. Worried about killer robots? Go protest General Atomics whose Reaper and Predator drones have actually killed thousands of people. Google's Boston Dynamics' robots aren't even weaponized.

Oh come on, Americans don't want to hear about drones that are doing on average 40 strikes per day (that's just Afghanistan) and killing countless innocent men, women, children, babies, pets and are destroying communities and their infrastructures. These drones count for over 1/3 (40% IIRC 33%) of America's warplanes but people would rather focus on things that aren't real yet.

I would sure like some technical details on this so that a tool can be developed to detect this on mobile devices as well as detecting the injectors that are sitting on people's computers waiting for someone to plug a mobile device in via USB.

It would be nice to have a list of MAC addresses or IP's for those command and control servers so that we can add them to our firewalls.

How many times have we seen a story like this on Bluesnews? A rumor about a gaming company comes out and shortly after, the company releases a statement denying the rumors. Then, a week or two later we find out it was entirely true. I've lost count over the years.

Yeah, but they have to deny it. Do you know what happens if they admit it?
They go bankrupt.

You want to do that at the last possible moment. As soon as you admit it, everyone treats you like you've already done it. It strains your finances even further and makes something that may only be likely now be guaranteed.

I totally understand that and was actually thinking exactly what you said as I was typing my original comment. They definitely have no choice but to hide it until the last possible moment. It's quite entertaining for us though since we see the same pattern over and over.

Yup. Depressing, really.
Crytek, though, is probably one of the few that's an outright surprise. Even 38 Greenmonster Whatever was surprising due to funding but a company many felt was probably not being managed overly well.

I hope Crytek can restructure and stay afloat. I have many fond memories from their games and would really hate to see them gone. I really enjoyed Farcry 1, especially MP.

Why should Comcast customers have to pay for the extra electric costs when passers by use said customers router? The extra traffic would certainly raise the electric bill even if only a little. The increase in electric usage would be significant when looked at across all combined routers. How are these people being compensated? Has anyone else even considered this aspect?

1) Routers pretty much use X energy, not X energy per connection
2) Most of these routers will never really be used, because they're in people's homes. Part of the reason they're there, period, is for when people go to a user, such as my parents, that have no clue what their wifi password is. When my mom hosts her book club she has to call me to ask what the password is so people can connect their tablets. If all those people, and my mom, were Comcast users, they could connect themselves

I don't think this is a great idea, but most of the uproar over things like energy and bandwith caps are entirely moot.

Well, I have to admit that you are correct. I lmao about your mom's book club. heheheee I've been there, done that many times.

I don't like saying "best ever!!!" but those jungles are pretty astonishing. Yet to try the others, but am aware of the negativity surrounding them.

Right on about the jungle. I was playing BF4 last night and was amazed that DICE has yet to allow plants to move when walk through them. In fact, I can't think of another non-Crytek game that does this.

Actually, BF4 does have this ability but it was removed from the game shortly after release with the promise that it would be reimplemented in the future. I doubt that it will ever be re-enabled since DICE removed features from BF3 in the beginning and they were also never re-enabled. Dice doesn't fix things, they put bandaids on everything.

See, in the mind of psychopaths this is how reality works. At the time DICE said, 'It's not close to ready yet.' He replies, 'I don't give a shit. Ship it now!' Several months later after the lawsuit and being raked over the coals he now recalls that it was actually unacceptable that they shipped it like that but they really had no choice. So now he paints himself as the victim in all of this. He tries to be noble by claiming responsibility for it, yet abdicates that responsibility withing the same breath...so it really wasn't his fault, now was it?

Rolleyes

They "had" to ship at console launch because the competition, CoD, would soak up all their sales.

This is no different than GM and the ignition issue, costs are weighed against profits and the business makes a decision based on the impact to its bottom line.

At least in EA's case, no one died because of the horrendous launch.

How can you be sure that nobody died?
