Yay, more obnoxiously overused environmental effects in every single battle.

Against the better judgment that usually keeps me away from buying games until they hit 50% off, I went and picked up Octopath for $40 or so. As a great lover of Final Fantasy V and VI, I'm enjoying it very much. The writing is crap, the story is crap, the voice acting is par for the course, but the music is spot on and the battles are engaging and simply fun. Can't really recommend it to anyone though, unless they already love the genre.

I still fondly remember the snowy day my four 3.5" floppies arrived in an envelope via US Mail, ordered directly from id.

And fuck Bethesda.

Skadden Arps is no joke. One of the, if not THE, top litigation firms in the US.

There is next to zero likelihood that they took this case if it was frivolous, or they didn't think they would win, or at least beat the living shit out of CIG's legal hacks in settlement negotiation.

This is not going away any time soon.

It's mindless, it's vacuous, it's vapid. The story is crap, the characters are crap, the lore is pissed upon.

But it's the most fun I've had playing a game in a long while, so who cares. Killing orcs, storming forts, avenging deaths, scaling towers, collecting stupid collectables, I can't stop doing it. I haven't paid more than "50% off" for a game in a decade. Bought the super mega-restore-the-cut content edition from GMG for $80 soon after launch in an urge to spend money. Instant regret for the first few hours, but then I got into the meat and flow of the game, and now zero regrets. It will be super cheap in a year, and probably a GOTY in two years. If you didn't buy it yet, it will be a must-buy at <$20.

I am using Cheat Engine to modify FOV, though, and that has added to my enjoyment immensely.

Aaaaaaand uninstalled. My poor nearly-at-capacity SSD and rural internet are not built for this nonsense. This is nearly as bad as Obsidian unleashing 2+ GB patches for minor Pillars of Eternity fixes.

It's a GREAT deal for $10.80 (or $12). I have bounced off of other TW games in the past, and know nothing of Warhammer, but I took the plunge on my first monthly bundle. I am addicted to this game. It's streamlined and satisfying, and most niggles are corrected by the amazing mod community. Hell, they are going to be able to use custom maps in campaign mode starting with the patch next week, that alone will increase replayability well beyond my hopes.

NMS may be dead and buried, but the Studio Wildcard settlement fund DLC is still top of the pops. Lessons still yet not learned, we get the industry we deserve.

I just wish Amazon would stop shipping Prime merchandise through the shithole that is US Postal system.

Any time you don't get your item by the "guaranteed delivery date", ask for compensation from Amazon. They will (usually) add a month of Prime to your subscription.

Seriously, can anyone (industry-informed, Rigs?) offer an opinion as to why they are only allowing official press-release screens in reviews? (RPS confirms this is the case in the postscript of their review). Is there any precedence for this? My BS meter starts at 9/10, and of course is pinned with this tidbit.

Mostly negative on Steam.

Widespread crashing even before seeing a menu.

Horrible performance, stuttering and low FPS on monster rigs.

There's a whole slew of PS4 players who got the game early. Turns out the difficulty is non-existent in this "survival" game, and it's nearly impossible to die. No difficulty slider or options, and game actually gets easier as you progress.

And that puts into the "<10 Freedom Money Units and wait for mods" category for me.

The mental gymnastics over the last two weeks on the subreddit have been hilarious for those of us with an affinity for schadenfreude. If it turns out to be a 7.1/10, that cluster of internet may collapse upon itself.

"1000%" sure sounds a lot more impressive than the actual number of "just $80000".

Not to mention she leans anti-science, anti-vaccine, pro-homeopathy, and completely bombed a reddit AMA two months ago.
