PC Games! Now you can buy them while they aren't even done!
I seriously have no clue who they're even trying to reach with this. The people interested in early access games will really most likely get them through digital distribution. Confused parents and casual gamers who still buy retail copies aren't even likely to understand what this early access stuff means, and they'll be upset when they find out the game they thought they bought is actually a barebones alpha.
Exactly. If I'm buying a game from a store I'm fully expecting a finished product. A threshold is being crossed and Uber is going to get a lot of bad press out of this (maybe a good thing?). That said, this technically is a better deal for the buyer than preordering the game and, like preorders, the publisher also makes a sale before the bad reviews come out
Last time I checked EA releases and unfinished Battlefield game every few years. At least these guys are being honest and saying its not done.
They are a small company and I'm pretty sure they need money to feed their families like the rest of us. People seem to villify companies that take the quick pay day and sign on with a big publisher, but if they try to finance themselves with advanced sales then they are being deceiving.
They will probably fool a few people into buying it thinking its a complete game, but that is not their fault. A fool and his money...
